"You killed the Alpha, baby?" There's no way I just heard that right surely.

"Hmm yep." He looks shy as he answers but my emotions are torn. On the one hand, I'm insanely proud of him for killing an Alpha as they are incredibly hard to kill. Usually, the only ones to kill an Alpha are another Alpha or maybe a Beta so for a Gamma to do that is insane and incredible.

However, on the other hand, I'm fucking furious that he went up against an Alpha knowing that there was a good chance that he could have been killed.

"Fuck, why the hell did you put yourself up against an Alpha Ash? Do you have a death wish?" My voice is rising with my anger but I can't control it. "You should never have done that. What if he had killed you huh? What then?"

"I had no choice, Jack!" His eyebrows scrunch up the more pissed he gets and I may be angry with him right now but even so, I still find the look on his face cute as fuck. "He was coming after me and Britney. It was me or her and I wasn't about to let him hurt her!"

Fuck he was protecting Britney, now I'm even more proud of him. "And as much as that was the right thing to do you still put yourself up against an Alpha!" I'm still screaming and still unable to control it. I could have lost him!

"You better take that tone down a notch or two Jack or so help me!" His sassy tone is a major turn-on even if this isn't the time for it, clearly, my dick doesn't care. "I don't regret it so get over it!" He slams his foot down hard on the ground while the other hand lands on his hip and he's all sass and all attitude and fucking sexy as hell!

I swear this guy is going to be the death of me! I take a few deep breaths while a smirk slowly forms on my face at how adorable he is when he stands up to me. "That aside I am insanely proud of you darling. It's unheard of for a Gamma to kill an Alpha but if there was ever one to do it, it would be you."

"Britney, are you ok sweetheart?" I turn to her and feel instant worry, the poor girl is not in good shape. A low growl leaves Alpha Colton's mouth and I know it's because I called her sweetheart.

"You have nothing to worry about Colton, Jack means it only in a friendly way trust me," Britney speaks quietly but we can still hear her.

"He's a male and your beautiful, there's no way it's just friendly!" He growls out while he gives me the stink eye.

"And he's gay babe. Ashley is his mate." She has a slight smirk on her face as she points to Ashley who makes a point of tucking himself into my side.

"Oh, my bad sorry, I didn't realize." Alpha Colton apologizes to us both but were both quick to shoo it off.

"No hard feelings." I smile his way. "Britney, how are you?" I ask again leaving out the sweetheart which I know Alpha Colton notices as he smirks my way.

"I'm hurting but I don't think anything is broken. I'll be fine in a day or two." That's what I wanted to hear.

"Who's next in line for the Alpha role?" Cal shouts out to the crowd that's slowly gathered around us. A tall guy steps forward, he's almost the size of Cal and insanely muscular.

"I am or should I say was Alpha Talon's Beta so I guess that's me." He doesn't look impressed by the news, to be honest, but he still stands up to the plate.

"Ok, what's your name?"

"It's Jessie."

"Ok, Jessie are you willing to take on the Alpha title?"

"Yes, I will." Again he doesn't seem happy but continues to stand up to his responsibility even though I have a feeling he won't be doing it for long. Something tells me he's going to be handing that title over to someone else soon.

"Ok, would anyone here like to challenge Jessie for the Alpha title?" Cal's Alpha tone bounces out across the whole forest and echos in every corner.

No one makes a sound. The forest is so quiet that I swear I can hear crickets. Cal waits a few seconds and then starts to count down.

"5... 4... 3... 2... 1... ok I'm taking this to mean that no one wishes to fight for this title."

"Not surprised." I hear Jessie say and if I heard him then I know the others around me did too.

"Jessie, you don't have to take the title, you know that right?" Cal takes a step towards him as he speaks.

"I do Alpha Calvin, I do." he looks like saying those words are his worst nightmare but unless he refuses the title there's nothing Cal can do.

"Are you sure?" I know Cal can sense the same thing as me. Jessie nods his head but doesn't speak a word.

"Ok, Jessie. What's your full name and the name of your pack?"

"Jessie Walters and the pack is called the midnight moon pack." Shit, I've heard a few rumors about that pack and none of them are good.

"Ok then. Jessie Walters, do you accept the position of the Alpha to the midnight moon pack?"

"I do."

"Will you always put the needs of your pack and members before your own?"

"I will."

"Will you lay your life down for your pack members if needed?"

"I will."

"Ok with that said I Alpha Calvin in the presence of Alpha Colton announce you, Jessie Walters, as the new Alpha of the midnight moon pack. Congratulations!" Cal booms out while Jessie just about manages to smile.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't confused by his reaction. Millions of wolves would do anything to have an Alpha title especially wolves that are next in line like Jessie was. However, there's a reason for Jessie accepting the title and something tells me that it's not for selfish reasons.

"Ok, Alpha Jessie I have another question for you. Is this war over? Or would you like to continue? I'd rather we stop and talk this through but if you feel the need to carry on your previous Alpha's fight then so be it."

"No Alpha Calvin. I have no wish to carry this fight on. Honestly, I didn't want to be a part of it earlier either. I've heard many stories about your pack and I struggled to believe that the story was true. I had a feeling that there was a reason for you taking the little girl and I still stand by my opinion."

Cal goes on to explain the situation to Alpha Jessie and you can see that he believes every word and if anything he's angry at the situation like we were rather than angry at us. "Fuck! I told him not to do this but he didn't listen and now he's paid for it. He's dead when he didn't need to die!" Alpha Jessie gets angrier as he speaks, but it's clear it's directed at the previous Alpha, not us.

"If you don't mind I will take my men and leave you be. I will make sure all my men know the true story and if you need any assistance in this matter please feel free to reach out to us. I will give you my number."

"Thank you, Alpha Jessie, I appreciate the offer and if you'd like to contact us maybe we can have a meeting and see if there's any room for us to have a working relationship. The more packs we have behind us the stronger we are."

"I agree." Alpha Jessie nods as he speaks before he shakes Cal's hand then Liam's, Ashley's, and mine. He has a brief conversation with Alpha Colton but I can't hear what they are saying before he rounds up his men and starts to move through the dead bodies and collect his deceased members and heads for the forest the way they came.

As the last of the men fade away into the forest Alpha Colton stands up while holding Britney in his arms and walks over to stand next to us while both his pack and ours move in closer to us.

"What now?" Liam asks.

"Wait... shit... fuck!" Ashley spits out.

"What's wrong baby?" I tighten my hold on him as I feel him tense up.
