Gamma Jack

I can feel my heart beat in my ears, my pulse has spiked and for the first time in a long time, I feel scared. There have only been two times in my life where I've felt scared, the day my parents died and the day I met my mate and had a brief second of thinking that I would lose him but now as I carry this little girl away from this hell hole I feel fear.

Deep down I know that I will protect her, both I and Cal will protect Kelly with our lives but still, I feel scared, scared that somehow I'll let her down, that somehow I won't get her to safety.

Why do I feel like this? I'm a Gamma, I'm strong, and I've never failed in protecting anyone that I've needed to against anyone including an Alpha more than once but here I am scared that I won't be able to protect a little girl.

I take a deep breath and shake myself, I need to forget about these stupid thoughts and concentrate on what's important and that's getting Kelly to the van where Liam is waiting with the little girl that he got out and the puppy.

Why in the hell did they even have a puppy there? Loud snarling brings me back to reality as Kelly's hold on me tightens, she's got her arms wrapped around my neck and her legs around my waist, and she's squeezing the life out of me.

She lets out a small whimper when she hears the growls and tries to tighten her hold on me even more. "Everything's going to be ok sweetheart. I've got you," She gives me a small nod before tucking her head further into my neck, her small body is shaking with fear and that alone makes me angry and ready to tear these motherfuckers apart.

No one comes after my little sister nor do they scare her. I know she's not my sister by blood but I love her like she is, I consider her my sister and I will protect her with my life!

Cal comes to stand in front of us letting out an earth-shattering growl and I swear that the wolf that is coming for us stops for a moment and re-thinks his decision. Unfortunately for him, Cal doesn't give any second chances when it comes to someone intending to hurt him, his pack, or his family and he lunges for him shifting mid-air.

He has the wolf pinned down and his throat torn out in seconds. "I'll stay in my wolf and walk in front of you." Cal's link is quick and to the point and I know it's because he doesn't want to be blindsided and neither do i. I give him a nod before he slowly starts moving forward alert and aware of his soundings.

We make It to the tree line of the forest and start walking through all the trees, rocks, and muddly ground when another snarl comes to my ears, a wolf jumps out from behind some of the trees and fuck is he huge but I know it won't faze Cal nor will it make him back down.

Cal starts running towards the wolf as the wolf heads our way while I take my eyes off them and keep watch on our surroundings. Seconds later I hear a loud whine sounding like the death of a wolf and my head flies to where Cal was to make sure he's ok.

Thankfully he is but I also quickly notice that he's not even by the wolf that's now laying dead on the forest floor, instead, I see two other wolves and instantly recognize them as Freddy and Liam. Freddy is one of the warriors that helped get Liam and the little girl out of the cabin not too long ago. Why are they here?

Liam shifts back into his human body quickly untying shorts from around his ankle and putting them on before Kelly can see anything. "Liam how come you and Freddy are here? Where's the little girl? Where's the puppy? Are they ok?" I've developed instant mouth vomit but I can't stop myself.

"They are fine Jack dont worry. They are waiting safely in one of the vans and we've left them with Simon, Tony, Roger, Curtis, Jessica, and Opal. They are protected Jack but I couldn't stay there not knowing what was happening and if you guys were ok so we came back to make sure everything was ok and get your guys back to the van with little miss Kelly."

He slowly makes his way over to us while still panting catching his breath. "How are you doing bubblegum?" Liam gently rubs Kelly's back and for the first time since we left the cabin, she lifts her head out from my neck and looks at him.

"I'm ok but I want Ashley and daddy." Liam gives her a gentle smile but I see the moment he realizes that they ain't here.

"Where are they? He links me and I know It's because hes worried about what answer I'll give him.

"Back at the cabin, something isn't right. Ashley made me leave with Cal and Kelly, and said they were right behind us but they still haven't caught up to us, and the more minutes that pass the more worried I'm getting."

He gives me the same concerned look that I'm trying to mask myself so that Kelly doesn't notice. "How about I take miss Kelly here back to the van so she can meet little Lacey and then you can go meet Ashley and Matthew and bring them back to the van?"

I agree and go to pass Kelly to him when she lets out an ear-piercing scream while clinging to me like a bloody monkey. "No Jack, please dont leave me!"

"Hey sweetheart it's ok, you'll be with Liam, you know your safe with Liam right?" She nods her head, yes but she still doesn't lessen her grip on me.

"I know but I dont want you to leave me, Jack." Her voice is so soft and so sad that despite every bone in my body wanting to go to my mate I know I can't, I can't leave Kelly like this, and Ashley wouldn't want me to either.

"How about I go and meet your brother and dad while Jack takes you to meet little Lacey?" Liam gives Kelly a gentle smile that she is quick to return while she agrees with his idea. I mouth "Thank you" to him before he runs off the way we came with Freddy close on his heels.

Cal starts to move forward again while I follow him with a less scared Kelly and soon we reach the edge of the forest and the vans come into view. I catch sight of Tony and Jessica by one of the vans while I can hear the others chattering from wherever they are hiding.

Opal comes from behind one of the vans and drops a pair of shorts in front of Cal and he's quick to shift back into his human body while I cover Kelly's eyes with my hands making her giggle.

"Lacey come out here darling, there's a little girl out here who would like to meet you." Jessica gently calls out and within seconds the little girl I saw earlier appears from inside one of the vans.

She looks a little different now though as she has a long clean tee shirt on that goes to her ankles and her hair looks like It's been somewhat brushed, I'm glad that the warriors have tried to clean her up a little, she must feel a lot better for it.

She has her head down facing the ground while she walks toward us. She suddenly stops once she is about 2 feet away from us and slowly lifts her head and I swear the scream that leaves Kelly's mouth reaches the entire width of the forest.

Lacey's face... One side of her face is that of a little girl, the little girl that we rescued earlier however the other half of her face is that of a monster, her mouth is so wide it reaches her ear and her eye is twice the size of a normal one and looks glazed over like she's possibly blind while she had a scar that runs along the one half of her chin.

"What the fuck?" Cal growls out. Lacey looks directly at me then at Kelly and gives her a smile that comes across as more of an evil smirk before she winks then raises her hands to the sky shouting out a mix of words that I've never even heard of.

A loud crackling sound suddenly sounds out while thunder shoots across the sky. The clouds start closing in and go completely black in seconds while all the light of the day fades away and is taken over with darkness.

All my senses are heightened and a feeling of terror rushes through my body. Lacey points to Opal and I shit you not her heart gets ripped from her body and she drops to the floor despite the fact that there's no one near her.

I take a step back from Lacey while Kelly's back to gripping me tightly and Cal moves to stand in front of us once more. Lacey points to Jessica next and the same thing happens again only this time lacey lets out a laugh... Well, it's more of a cackle.

"RUN!" Cal bellows in my head but the moment I go to move I realize I can't, my feet are somehow stuck to the ground, and looking around I can see that everyone else is having the same trouble. Fuck!

"What are you doing? Who are you?" Cal shouts out to her but she doesn't answer him instead she points straight at him and a scream leaves my mouth as he falls to the ground and lands next to his own heart.

My temper quickly rises and a little girl or not I want to kill her because clearly there's more to her than we realized and she's just killed members of my family and most of all she's killed my Alpha and best friend. Before I can even react she points to every other warrior that's there and one by one they fall to the ground as do their hearts.

She turns her attention back to me and starts to raise her hand and I know she's going to point at either Kelly or me so I turn my back from her and try to run and this time I can, somehow my feet are now free and I'm running like I have the devil on my ass.

My heart is pounding while my veins burn in anger but I keep moving forward desperate to get Kelly to safety. "You can run but you can't hide" Lacey's voice sings out around the forest and suddenly she's in front of me again.

Fuck how do I get out of this... We need help... Please goddess help us...
