Finding out that not only do my uncle Joey and his mate Jackie know Edwina well but that warrior Zack and his mate Kat do too, in fact, their daughter Jane calls Edwina auntie Edwina and has done since she was little is just mind-blowing.

Having the people that we know speak well of her is a massive help but I still dont know how I feel about her wiping my memory, for her to do that she will need full control of my body and it may only last for a few minutes but for a witch as strong as Edwina a few minutes is all she needs to do pretty much anything to me and the

others.

We have been sitting here talking through everything for the last 30 minutes but it's clear to me that Cal still doesn't know what to do and I'm almost grateful for it right now as I dont think I'm ready to hear his answer and I'm definitely not ready to see Edwina do anything to my mate.

"Ok, I dont think there's any more for us to talk about right now. I need to talk to my pack members that are involved in this situation, and then we will come together again and talk, is this ok with you?" Cal asks Edwina who's quick to agree.

"You are welcome to stay here at the packhouse while you wait for our decision or if you wish to leave I will call you as soon as I have an update for you."

"If it's ok with you we will stay here?" Edwina asks.

"Of course, Zack your house is ready for you, Nora has been going in there once a week to keep it clean for you. Do you have room for Rosemary? If not we will give her a room here with us."

"We have room for Rosemary and Edwina but I'm afraid we won't have enough room for you or Jackie." Zack looks at Joey with a sad smile as he speaks

"Don't worry about us we will be fine." Joey smiles as he answers.

"We have room on our floor for Joey and Jackie," Jack answers before I can say a word and I love how he instantly makes room for my family even when we dont know them greatly.

"Ok well, that's settled. Everyone is free to leave but I will call a meeting in one hour." We all give Cal a nod before leaving his office while he heads off with his mom and dad and Liam comes with us. I hope we can get this settled today because I need a break from the constant drama and I know the others will be feeling the same way.

True to his word one hour later Cal called a meeting for all the warriors that were present at the witch attack and of course Zack, Kat, Rosemary, Edwina plus Joey, and Jackie were called to the meeting. however, little Jane was sent to help Kelly and Lacey bake with Nora, she didn't need to hear what was going to be said.

The meeting pretty much went as expected, with a lot of wolves voicing their opinions and a lot of divided opinions. Most of the warriors were torn as they wanted to help Edwina, especially after what she had done for them but one of the main problems is getting their wolves to allow a witch to control them the way she would need to.

After over an hour of talking everyone decided that they would allow Cal to make the decision for them and would support and accept whatever he decided. Now dont get me wrong it was a great outcome really as it was clear to see that we weren't going to get an anonymous vote on this any time this century but hell if it ain't a lot of pressure for Cal.

Everyone has left Cal's office and now there's only Cal, his parents, Liam, Edwina, my mate, and myself left sitting here feeling completely lost. "What are you going to do Cal?" Liam asks the question that's torturing me, I want to ask him but I'm nervous to hear his answer.

"I haven't got a clue." He grunts out.

"Before you make a decision why dont we go and speak with Coby? I'm not sure what

he's going to tell us but you never know maybe something that he says will help you make the decision." Liam's idea isn't bad plus I know both Ashley and I are eager to hear what he has to say.

"Yes, let's do that. But I'll have him brought up here rather than all of us trying to fit inside the cell with him. His eyes glaze over as he links someone to bring Coby to us and just 10 minutes later warriors Ryder and Craig come walking through the door with one handcuffed Coby.

The moment I lay eyes on Coby again I feel a storm of mixed emotions swarm my body. I'm angry at him for the hurt he has caused, angry at myself for being the person who knew him and encouraged Cal to allow him to stay here. I feel hopeful that we will get the answers we need, I'm hoping that he is more innocent than it appears right now and more than anything I'm struggling to handle all of the emotions that I am feeling at once.

Ryder and Craig walk him over to the empty chair that has been placed in the corner of the room, they cuff him to the chair with silver cuffs and stand on either side of him guarding him while I pray we get all the answers that we need from him.

He looks a little scared and worried and I dont blame him but he should feel lucky that he isn't in any pain right now, the cuffs are silver and strong enough to keep him contained but not strong enough to hurt him.

He looks directly into my eyes and for a moment I see Coby my friend the person to who I lost my virginity to but in the next moment, I see Coby the monster who was somehow wrapped up in the kidnapping of my sister that ultimately resulted in my dad's death and that Coby... Fuck that Coby I want to tear apart.

I feel my body start to shake with anger that I try to reign in but it's hard. I want to be clear-headed when I listen to him, I want there to be a reason for it all that doesn't involve him simply being a monster but it's hard to think like that when all I can think about is my dad's last moments and the fact that Kelly and I no longer have our dad.

I feel hands slide around my hips just seconds before I'm pulled onto Jack's lap and he gently rubs soothing circles on my back and leaves feather-light kisses on my forehead. He doesn't say a word nor do I, we dont need to, he knows how I'm feeling, and not just because he can feel it through the mate bond and I know that he's here with me and for me without me needing to say anything.

"Coby I'm sorry it has taken a few days until we have been able to talk to you but something of importance has come up." As always Cal is a good man, not many Alphas will apologize to just anyone never mind apologizing to someone who technically is a prisoner right now.

"It's no problem Alpha, I'm fully aware of the fact that Beta Liam had every right to kill me on the spot when he found me as did you when you first saw me, and I'm extremely grateful that you have allowed me to live and are willing to listen to me.

"Don't make me regret it," Cal answers him with a serious no-nonsense look.

"I won't." Coby doesn't hesitate in his answer but he has some convincing to do. Cal catches my attention and gives me a nod silently giving me the go-ahead to start this and I'm extremely grateful to him.

"How about we start at the beginning, Coby? How did my dad get out of the safe room? One minute he's linking me telling me that he's in there with Kelly and the next he's in some abandoned cabin. We all know how kelly got out but not him."

"A few days before the attack happened your dad found out that I was... involved with Hailey's plan and confronted me. I didn't even know he was at the pack so as you can imagine I was shocked, as far as anyone knew Beta Matthew was killed so when he confronted me I was more than shocked."

I watch him as he talks and I dont think he's lying so far. "He told me what really happened in the forest and that this pack saved him. I dont know how he knew about my involvement but I decided to tell him the truth and that I wasn't really on her side and after a lot of convincing he believed me and set a plan in motion."

"My dad knew... even before the attack?" He can't be serious, can he?

"Yes, he did." I try to find my next question but I can't seem to get any words out through my shock thankfully for me, my mate is there for me once more.

"If Matthew knew then why didn't he tell anyone else?" He asks Coby.

"He said he didn't want anyone else to know, he didn't want you to know Ash." He looks directly at me as he continues talking. "He said that he wanted to solve the problem on his own and that he wasn't willing to risk your life any more than it already was. He said that if the worst happened he wanted you to be ok and also he wanted you to take care of Kelly. I wanted to tell you but he made me promise not to"

"Ok, say I believe you then tell me how he got out of the safe room, tell me what the plan was?" I've finally found my voice again even if it sounds weak and unsure.

"The plan was for him to get Kelly and himself inside the safe room then he would sit close to the door while he ensured Kelly was further inside the room then when I opened the door and give the excuse to take Kelly he would sneak out behind my back hopefully without anyone seeing him."

"So he knew you were going to take Kelly?" Jack asks.

"Yes, the plan was for us to meet in the forest away from the fight and he was going to take Kelly somewhere safe until it was over and I was going to ruff myself up a little then tell Hailey that I had been ambushed and lost Kelly in the process."

"So what happened?"

"We were almost to the meeting point when Kelly suddenly freaked out, I dont remember everything she said but she mentioned something like I shouldn't have known that her dad was at the pack and that I was lying to her and she managed to run off from me. I ran after her but then everything went black, by the time I had come around Kelly was gone and the night was starting to set in. I searched for her and Beta Matthew for hours but I couldn't find them."

He looks sad and defeated as he speaks and a small part of me, a very small part feels

sorry for him right now and some of his story does appear to match what Kelly told us but still, I haven't finished with him yet.

"Coby, you say you weren't on Hailey's side in this so why do what you did? I dont understand your actions and I know I'm not the only one." Cal grunts the words out while every single person in the room agrees with him.
