Ashley

My mind is so fogged over with pain and anger that I don't even pay attention to where I am going and then the moment that I do finally bring my attention back to the present I realize that I am in the middle of a forest but I don't have a clue where it is or where I am. I look around but nothing looks familiar. It doesn't help that as far as the parklands go Jack has only shown me the immediate facilities and the swirly river, we've not ventured out any further and I've also never been in this area for any pack business before either so I'm at a complete loss.

"Well, what the fuck are we going to do now?" Alfie wines in my head.

"I haven't got a fucking clue!"

"Well, we need to do something because standing around here isn't going to help us!"

"Well, no shit twat bag!" I roll my eyes at his obvious comment before looking around and trying to figure out where the fuck I can go from here. I keep walking for a while passing loads of trees and overgrown grass but still, I can't see anyone out here, man or wolf, surely I didn't come that far out I don't think I've been gone too long.

"I can smell something... I think there's a wolf nearby!" Alfie's perky voice startles me but also gives me a great deal of hope, that wolf's sense of smell is outstanding.

"Do you know where it's coming from?"

"No, but it's defiantly getting stronger!" I continue to move forwards but I take a slower place constantly taking in everything around me until finally, I see movement in the trees that are close by but suddenly I feel confused.

On one hand, I'm relieved that someone has found me and that I'm no longer lost but on the other hand I don't know where I am and there's a chance that I've left the parklands and that the wolf that's heading my way is out to hurt me. There's also the fact that if this is someone from my mates' pack then that means that they will get me back to my mate and that means I have to face up to what happened, to what I saw and I don't think I'm ready for that yet. Alfie lets out a strange sound, it's a mixture of a growl and a whimper and I'm confused as to why, that is until I look up and soon realize why the wolf that was heading towards us is now standing right in front of us.

The wolf is tall and large and defiantly of a high ranking. Fuck! Before I can do anything the wolf starts shifting into its human form and I pray with all I have that it's someone from Jack's pack. I know I'm worried about facing Jack right now but I'm more worried about ending up at the hands of another pack and another Alpha. Luckily for me my panic and worry are instantly forgotten as I see Beta Liam appear in front of me and I could cry with relief.

"Hey, Ashley. I've been looking everywhere for you. How have you ended up this far out?" He gives me a gentle smile as he walks towards one of the tree trunks and pulls something out. I soon realize that it's a pair of shorts as he puts them on but why were there shorts in the tree trunk? And how did he know that they were there? "I honestly don't have a fucking clue but boy am I glad to see you!" I laugh as I feel myself completely relax and I realize just how quickly I have come to completely trust Liam. He gives me a warm smile before stepping closer to me.

"Your lucky another few feet and you would have been out of our parklands."

"Shit, honestly I was starting to think that I already was. I haven't seen anyone out here."

"A Rogue got on the parklands so a few of the warriors were chasing him but they should be back at their posts anytime soon." He looks around at how quiet the place is and the look of concern is clear on his face. I don't think he's impressed at the lack of guards here right now. "I'm going to link Jack to let him know that I've found you as he's going out of his mind with worry and then we'll head back ok?" I give him a small smile and nod but the moment his eye glaze over from him linking my mate I lose my smile and the gut-wrenching feeling immediately hits me.

My mind takes me back to the bedroom, to seeing that guy in my mates' bed and its hurts, it fucking hurts! "Ashley, you ok?" I come back to reality and realize that Liam has been calling me but I've been completely lost. "Yeah sorry, I'm ok." I'm not, I'm not ok! "Hey look Jack told me about what happened and I'm sorry that you had to see that but nothing is going on between Jack and Luke."

"Luke." The name leaves my lips as bile travels up my throat. I look up at Liam but something seems off and he quickly knows that I've noticed. "But something has gone on between them right?"

"It's not my place to say." He looks towards the ground as he sighs and that's all I need to see. "But if it wasn't true then you would have said so, the same as you just told me that nothing is going on with them now."

"Jack will explain it to you but I promise that nothing is going on with them, since the

moment that Jack laid eyes on you, well hell I've never seen him like this, you are his whole world Ash please don't doubt that. In fact, he wanted to rip Luke's head off for being in his bed and I had to remind him that it wasn't a good idea." He laughs as he comes to the end and I soon find myself joining him.

"Maybe I shouldn't have run off so quickly, I just... Well I don't know I just saw him there and saw his clothes on the floor and it felt like my heart was breaking and I couldn't handle it, I was weak and I run!" Liam steps up to me and wraps one of his hands around my shoulder giving me a gentle squeeze and a bright friendly smile.

"I don't know many people who wouldn't have done the same, either that or would have ripped their head off and that really wouldn't help anything." He's right I know he is but still, I can't help but feel weak for running, and as much as it kills me to admit it a part of me did doubt my mate and for that, I'm completely ashamed of myself.

I've seen how Jack looks at me, how he acts with me and it's a shame on my part that I doubted him even for a second but still, I need to know what happened with him and Luke, still I need to hear it from his mouth. Liam starts guiding me through the forest letting me know that Jack is not far away and despite my mixed emotions I can't wait to see him, I know it's not been that long since I left the packhouse but in all honestly it feels like it's been forever and I hate it, I miss him! "Jack's in the forest with the guards and the Rogue that they found, he's asking If I can take you to him, do you mind?"

"No that's fine." We walk for what feels like forever light chatter filling up the silence that would otherwise surround us and it's crazy how quickly we are getting to know each other and it's crazier how much we get on.

Finally, after a long walk, we start to hear a voice in the distance and soon Alfie starts purring in my head as he picks up on Jack's scent. "Mate!" He yelps out, his tongue lolling out of his mouth and I can't help but chuckle out in my mind. After a few more steps we turn a corner by a massive oak tree and the backs of figures begin to appear in front of me. Liam has me follow him around them until we come to stand in front of them and my mate's scent fastly hits me as he steps up close to me and I'm not sure if I want to cry from how stupid I feel over my reaction earlier or melt right on this very spot from how hot he looks.

I look up at his face and my smile is quickly removed from my face once I see the look of anger on his, he looks pissed, seriously pissed and I don't know if it's from me running off or something else but either way I don't fucking like it. "Ash, do you know this Rogue?" Huh! He takes my hand and pulls me over towards some of the warriors, the sparks shoot straight through my fingers and up my arm but I try to ignore it and focus on the situation at hand.

He suddenly stops and it takes all I have to stop myself from bumping into the back of him when I hear a familiar voice that completely freezes me to the spot. No, it can't be... Can it? Jack steps aside and the Rogue that they are holding in place looks up at me and smiles. Oh, chicken shit it is!
