As we step inside the packhouse I feel myself getting nervous and I'm not even sure if I know why. I know I'm a little embarrassed about running off but not greatly and I know I'm nervous about the idea of letting Kelly go but still, I feel like I'm physically shaking and Jack must sense it as he takes my hand giving me a gentle squeeze.

"I'm here with you darling no matter what." He gives me a swift kiss just as we reach Cal's door and step inside to find everyone in the same place as they were earlier.

"You ok brother?" Liam asks the moment I step inside Cal's office and his worry for me is clear to see.

"I'm ok, I'm sorry for running off," I speak to both Liam and Cal as I answer showing them both the respect they deserve as my Beta and Alpha.

"Nothing to be sorry for," Liam says.

"Your fine, dont worry," Cal says straight after and I must admit it does make me feel a little better to know that neither of them is mad at me.

"Uncle Joey, auntie Jackie, I'm sorry for running out like that, I guess it was just a shock."

"Of course it was and I wish I could have said it in an easier way but I dont think there is one." Joey looks sad and that's the last thing I want.

"I'm here now and I'm ready to talk, ready to listen."

"Ashley we dont want to take over your or Jack's role with Kelly we just want to help keep her safe," Jackie speaks this time, and I'm pretty sure that this is the most that she has ever said to me.

"Ok, so what are you thinking?" It's clear to see that they are doing this out of kindness but I'm still not quite ready to agree to anything, not yet anyway.

"Well as I said earlier we have spoken about this... a lot and what we are thinking is that we take Kelly with us to the new pack and we will keep her there with us until we are sure that she will be safe here away from Hailey. We all know that Hailey will come here looking again at some point and sure once she knows that Kelly isn't here anymore she will go looking for her but she'll never be able to find her where we are going."

He's got a point but the idea of being without Kelly for even a day is painful. "It could be months, years even before it will be safe for her to return. Are you prepared for the fact that she could be with you for a long time?" Cal asks the question that's on the tip of my tongue.

"We are Alpha. Kelly is welcome to live with us for as long as needed. We will provide for her and love her but we will also happily return her to you once it is safe."

Jackie turns her head to look straight at me. "Ashley we are not trying to take her away from you forever. She could be with us for 5 weeks or 5 years and she will never go without but she will always know that she has a home here once it's safe."

"The last time that I spoke to your dad he asked me to look after you and Kelly if anything happened to him not that he needed to ask I would always be there for you both but I think he knew that things were only going to get worse," Joey adds on to Jackie's words pain echoed across his face when he speaks of my dad.

"Ashley if Kelly goes with your aunt and uncle you do know that you won't be able to visit her right? Your mom could be watching at any time and it would be too risky that she could follow you there."

"I know." I nod agreeing as a sadness takes over all my emotions.

"But you can phone and video call whenever you want Ash, I know it may not be the same but it's something." Joey sounds sincere as he talks but I remain quiet.

"Jack, what do you think?" I link him needing a moment with him, needing his advice and opinion on this.

"I dont want her to go as much as you dont baby but if I'm being honest I think this could be the best and safest solution for her right now and I think you feel and think the same even if you don't want to admit it."

"I do but I can't imagine not seeing her. What if it's years until she can come home?"

"I wish I could say that won't happen but I can't but we can make sure we speak to her all the time and video call her and remind her every day of how much we love and miss her."

I close the link and face Joey and Jackie as Jack takes my hand in his and then pulls me out of my chair and onto his lap.

"She can come with you. I dont want her to but that's me being selfish. Her safety is the most important thing right now and the further we can get her away from Hailey the better."

"Wait... What about... Kelly, do we know where she came from?" Liam asks the question that's been burning inside me but I'm too scared to ask.

"I have been asking around but so far I've been unable to find any trace of her disappearance," Edwina answers looking slightly uncomfortable. "I believe if Hailey wanted her then there's a good chance that she killed Kelly's biological parents to have her, she would have known to be smart and cover her tracks."

"I agree." Cal nods his head towards Edwina.

"Either way it doesn't matter she is our sister regardless," Jack speaks up making me smile and nod my head agreeing with his words.

"When will you leave?" I hope I get some time with her before she goes.

"We need to head back to our pack to gather all our stuff and then we can come back for her so is 2 days ok with you?"

"Yes absolutely! I was worried you were going to take her today."

"We were going to suggest that but we can see that you need some time to say goodbye. We have a long journey to the new pack so adding on a couple more hours to come back for her really is no bother." Joey answers me while Jackie nods agreeing with him.

"Thank you we appreciate it," Jack says to them.

"I'm glad you found your mate, Ash. Your dad told me all about Jack and it's clear to see that he was right. it's clear to see that you are loved and looked after here but in keeping my word to your dad I do need to say that you always have a home with us."

Jack's growl bounces off the walls as he squeezes the life out of me causing everyone in the room to laugh. "Don't worry I know it will never be needed but I just had to say it to keep my promise to my brother."

"I know and I'm sorry Taz didn't like hearing you talk of my mate living anywhere but with us." Joey nods in understanding while smiling wide.

Gamma Jack

Seeing the heartbreak on my mate's face over the idea of losing Kelly was soul-destroying and honestly, I was feeling it myself, Kelly feels as much my sister as she is Ashley's and I can't imagine not seeing her cheeky little face every day.

But the reality is that her safety needs to come first and while every single member of the pack would lay down their lives to protect her, nothing will stop Hailey from constantly coming after her and even if sending her to live with Joey and Jackie is that last thing that we want to do we all know its the right decision and I'm glad that we have made it I really am but I pray that she doesn't have to be gone too long.

"Now that you have settled the matter with Kelly which I am glad of I would like to move on to the last problem that we have." Edwina interrupts my thoughts and a sinking feeling quickly foams in the pit of my stomach.

"Ok tell us what's going on Edwina," Cal tells her while we all settle back in for another round of problem-solving. "It's in regard to the attack that some of my witches put upon some members of your pack. First I want to tell you how sorry I am about that situation."

"The witches that attacked us may have been a part of your coven but you saved us and have helped us with Hailey so as far as I'm concerned it's over, in fact, we owe you a debt, and if you ever need anything you know where we are."

"Thank you Alpha Calvin and speaking of needing anything, that leads me to part of why I came here, I need your help in regards to the witches that were at the attack."

"I'm not sure what we can do to help but we are willing to try," Cal answers her while everyone in the room nods their heads agreeing with him.

"Well you see aside from being the mother to my coven I also help some fellow witch friends of mine, together we help protect witches that have been harmed by partners or are helping us with someone who has done wrong."

"Like a witness protection kind of thing?" Liam asks.

"yes, I suppose you could call it that."

"Ok, so how can we help?" I'm not sure what she wants from us in this situation

"Well you see the problem that I have is that several of the women that were there that night shouldn't have been, two of them are part of a serious investigation that is underway and are not supposed to be out of their safe house at all right now but Hailey told them all that I had requested to see them and that they may need to help protect me from danger."

"And that's why as soon as Hailey started attacking us they all joined in?" Liam has quickly caught up.

"Yes, that's right but now they have been seen in public, and I'm worried about the wrong people finding out that they have been seen and encouraging any of your pack members into telling them where they last saw them, considering one of those witches is supposed to be dead I'm sure you can see my struggle here?"

If the way she has worded this is any indication of the kind of people that she is hiding them, witches, from then I'm going to say that they are not very nice people.

"I'm not saying your wolves would put them in harm's way intentionally but the people that we are protecting them from are dangerous. The two ladies that I'm mainly talking about, the ones that shouldn't be out of their safe house... well we are hiding them from a very powerful warlock and if he finds out who's hiding them.. well the whole coven can consider themselves dead!"

"Fuck!" Liam grunts.

"I'm sorry to hear about this we all are but I still dont understand how we can help you here Edwina?"

"There is one thing that can be done to help us Alpha but I'm not sure if you or your pack members are going to like it but it's the only thing that I can think of doing to keep them a secret.

"And what's that?"

"I want to wipe the memory of the witch attack from the minds of all the members that were there that day."
