The Delta's Daughter Chapter 131

My eyes lifted to the Alpha again, Ocean blues met misty dull grey. I held his stare, both of us curling our lips, sneering at one another. He stood, a watchful eye on me when his lips began to curve into a cruel and menacing smile. A smile, full of evil.

“Lords, Ladies and Pack, I present to you our newest Gladiators!” He began a slow clap and the crowd, as if coming out of a trance or their stupor, began to clap and cheer.

He addressed them not like an Alpha but like he was some self-proclaimed king. He reveled in the crowds' cheers, thinking they adored him and were thanking him for bringing them this bountiful entertainment.

“You are no King! You are no Alpha! You are a coward!” I roared out, pointing my blood-soaked finger at him. “A leader protects the weak in the pack; they don’t enslave them and send them to their death. Only a man who is weak and cowardly does that!”

His growl filled the stadium, hushing the onlookers, his teeth snapping at me as his wolf pushed forward brimming on the surface.

Sometimes I just didn’t know when to quit, this was one of those times. “You call yourself an Alpha, then face me, man to man, wolf to wolf. I Kellen Moon, Alpha and King of the New Moon Pack challenge you to the Alpha title!”

Gasps rang out and the look on the Alpha's face would have sent me six feet under if looks could kill. His face was red with anger and I could visibly see his body shaking with rage at the challenge. The Luna gave a small smirk, a twinkle in her otherwise lifeless eyes. She was happy I challenged him.

The Alpha stood and began slow clap once more, this time the crowd did not react. He stepped down from his chair and pointed at me.

“You are nothing.” He declared, taking another step down his silky red long over-shirt rippled with his movements. He dressed like he was holding court in an age long ago forgotten. “You are nothing but a slave! Here I make the rules and you will do well to remember that SLAVE!”

He waved his hand and the guards began to corral Ajani and the Rogue out of the arena, I stood there still seething that the thing who called himself an Alpha.

“Teach him a lesson.” He growled the command at the remaining guards that flanked me.

I felt the first bite zap through my skin, then the next, setting all my nerves on end and the third brought a burn through my muscles, then another prod of the long pole and I hit the ground, blacking out.

I blinked my eyes open, groaning with the stiffness that encased my whole body. I still felt the trembling of my muscles and the hair on my body felt like it was still standing on end.

“You live.” I heard Ajani’s voice as my blurred vision started to clear. My throat was dry and raspy, my tongue was still swollen and I tried to lick my lips.

A cup of water was brought to my lips and drank it greedily. “Fuck, I feel like I went ten rounds with Lamia.” I groaned out.

“Who is Lamia” Ajani asked, “Is he your mate” again with the questions.

“You did well young King, but next time you may want to keep your mouth shut.” Teal chuckled as I lifted my tight arms to rub my face. “A lesser wolf would have died, or at least would still be unconscious.”

A flash of memory shot through me, reminding me of the cattle prods that kept shocking me over and over again.

“Maybe next time not try to issue a challenge to Vargr, huh” I looked a Teal who wore a frown, his red eyebrows pulled together in concentration as he wiped the blood from my body with a cool cloth.

“He’s a fuckin coward.” I spat.

“That he may be, but right now you are his mercy. Another stunt like that, and he may just trigger your chip. Then what good would you be if you were dead”

“He is right. You are no good to us if you are dead.” Ajani agreed.

“What good am I to anyone stuck in here.” I laid my head back down covering my eyes, willing the burn and stiffness to leave my body.

“You killed 9 of his men, 5 of them with your bare hands and without shifting. I would say you are worth a whole lot. The other men here have been waiting for you to wake up. They want to show you their respect, young King.”

I scrunched my eyes closed listening to his words. I did nothing but survive, kill, or be killed. Today was not my day to die. But laying here it sure felt like I should have.

Finally feeling like I could move, I sat up, swinging my legs off the side of the cot and leaning my back against the rough but cold wall. “How long have I been out for” I asked thinking that they would say a day or more.

“Only a couple hours, surprisingly, the number of times they shocked you I am very surprised you are awake,” Teal said with pride in his words.

My wolf must have been able to heal me quickly. I was thankful. I looked at Ajani, more specifically his arm. His wound had been cleaned and was now bandaged. Next, I looked at the Rogue, his wounds had also been cleaned, but there was no bandage, instead, some green goopy compound had been rubbed into his wounds.

“The healers came and took care of them.” My unspoken question was answered by Teal once more.

I stood up from my cot on shaky legs, feeling like I hadn’t used them in years. I stood by the small barred window and looked out into the red sky, the sun was setting and the faint glow of the moon could be seen as the sun ducked down behind the wall and the moon rose to take its place.

I closed my eyes and thought of Lamia and Mike. Were they looking for me Had they found out where I was yet Did they know I was a million miles from home on another continent, in a strange kingdom

I then thought of my parents, something that was hard for me to do. Because every time I recalled a memory of them it was clouded and replaced with the image of their corpses. A lone tear slipped from the corner of my eye the memory of their deaths haunting me.

I prayed to the Moon Goddess to keep what was left of my loved ones safe, and then I prayed for the Slaves of the realm, now having a fraction of an idea of what they go through. Lastly, I prayed that she would present me with a solution, a solution that would help me get out of here.

I stood there for a while, long after Teal, Ajani, and Rogue had left my small area leaving me to my thoughts when they realized I was not going to engage in conversation.

I watched the red sky turn to a dusky purple as night crept in, the hot dry air turning cooler as the black sky's slunk their way in. Creeping like a menacing shadow that eventually gave way to the vast stars and the glow of the hooked moon.
