The Delta's Daughter Chapter 366
OLIVER
For The first time since Alpha Travis had locked me away in this cell, and I must confess it was nothing less than I deserved, the sound of multiple steps rang out from down the other end of the long corridor.
The musty dank air shifted, becoming thicker. Even with my wolf as weak as he was, I felt her power. I smelled her sweet scent. Wafting through the stagnant air of the dungeons.
I smiled to myself. I didn't think Travis would do it. I didn't think he would tell her. I guess all this reveals is one; he was ready for me to die. Two; Travis was scared of disappointing his queen.
I suddenly felt nervous. My hands became clammy and started to slightly shake. My heart began to beat harder, and the thudding of my organ pulsed through my ears.
I hoped to make an escape from the life I grew up in, in Bhakhil, but my plans were foiled. I was looking for an out. A way to leave everything behind and find out who it was I really wanted to be. Unfortunately, there is no light at the end of the tunnel for someone like me.
When I heard Senko was still alive, I was already going to beg Alpha Travis for a quick death. I can't even begin to count the days of how long I have been down here. Or the number of creative ways the Alpha has tortured me.
In my sick and twisted mind, I was quite proud of his methods. The way he sliced my skin, husking it with perfection. He had left scars all over my body. New scars that hide the old ones.
Some days I welcomed the pain. A stark reminder of what I was. A monster. Some days I wished for it to be the day he ended me because the pain was too much.
On other days, the days I wasn't being sliced, diced, whipped, or shocked, I enjoyed his company. The nights he would talk for hours and ask me questions. Sometimes the information was intriguing, other times I sighed, knowing his trauma was caused by me. But he didn't understand, he wasn't telling me or doing anything to me that I hadn't experienced before.
But Senko… I remember him from very early on and he was something to be feared. The worst of the worst. The craziest and most insane. I still couldn't figure out how he had lived. I was there that night. The night Silas and Orion killed him.
So was Finnegan Artos, but I doubt he knew what happened. Orion, even though a bastard to his own son, still shielded him in some ways. That night Finnegan had been left behind while his father and Silas, mine - took care of Senko. Not to say Finnegan hadn't done his share of killing in the name of his father but, I was exposed to everything. So much more. Finnegan Artos was Orion's heir. I was just the whipping boy who climbed the ranks.
When the multiple footsteps stopped outside my cell I finally looked up, meeting the glowing green eyes of the most beautiful female I would ever have the pleasure of laying eyes on. Again.
She detested me with every fiber of her being. I could see it. Smell it. Feel it. She wanted me dead. And how could I blame her?
I didn't hate her. She was the strongest person I had ever had the pleasure of coming across. Not once did she beg or plead for her life. Not once did she cry or submit to Silas. Everyone submitted to Silas eventually.
But not her. Not the chosen one.
I hold her gaze, something only a high-ranked shifter could do. Those green orbs narrow on me, full of despise and hatred. I could sense her wolf, her powerful aura oozing out in waves toward me. A lesser wolf would cower, but I no longer had anything to fear.
As my last act in this realm, I would cut through the bullshit. Because some things should never come to pass, and Senko was that one thing.
"Your Highness." I tip my head slightly, not being able to keep the small smirk that turned the corner of my lips up at bay.
She was beautiful. Even more so now. Looking into her eyes, I almost regretted not taking her when I had the chance. I could have defiled her the same way I had done to Travis. Except Silas had wanted her to himself. He had no idea what Kira had done to her, paying Jack the bear and his men to break her.
Even then she never broke. Never cried out. Never submitted.
Lamia Langley, the delta's daughter. Now the queen of shifters. Dire & Lycan - a descendant of the demigoddess Ashe herself.
"Cut the crap, Oliver." She sneers, showing her fangs in a motion of pure hatred. "I'm here for two reasons and two reasons only. To hear what you have to say about the Blood Alchemist Senko and make sure you die and stay dead this time."
I believed her. Why wouldn't she want me dead? I did after all kill her first mate.
"The fact you are alive disgusts me. You should have died with Silas on the battlefield. Only a coward runs from a battle." She seethes. Her words spit out like venom.
It doesn't faze me though. I already know all this. However, "If I had died then, then I wouldn't be here today to tell you what I know." I sound cocky, but the ball is in my court as they would say. Right now, I am holding all the cards and they have no fucking clue.
"And what do you know?" She eyes me through the bars. Her piercing gaze burned into me, daring me, challenging me.
My wolf perked up, slowly rising to the surface. "Everything." I hiss back at her, unable to help the way my wolf rises against her challenging demeanor.
A rumble and a succession of growls fill the corridor. I look around, noticing the others for the first time. Her mate, King Mathias of the Bears, Hunji, and a female who looks like Finnegan and of course my dear Alpha Travis.
I had quite an audience.
"Then tell me so you can die in peace."
"Do you promise to give me a quick death?" I asked her, squaring my shoulders, hands folded in front of me.
"That depends on what information you have. If it's useful, then I will ensure I kill you quickly. If you don't have anything worth knowing, then I'm sure anyone of us, or all of us here would be happy to slice you piece by agonizing piece." Queen Lamia means every word she says. There's no hint of a lie in her eyes, no wavering of her voice. She speaks like a true queen.
"Five years ago, a few months after a raid on one of the outlying packs, Silas and Orion killed Senko. Beat him within an inch of his life then stabbed him multiple times and slit his throat. He was as good as a human. No healing abilities that I remember. When they left his body in a deep ditch to rot, he should have stayed dead. Then your pet Alpha here," I point to Travis, "Tells me he is alive and kicking. You thought Silas and Orion were bad?" I chuckle menacingly and lean in close to the bars, my voice dropping a few octaves, "Then you ain't seen nothing yet, Princess."
"Why did they kill him?" She asks me, ignoring the warning laced in my words.
"Because creating the Crawlers wasn't enough for him. He didn't want to stop there; he didn't stop there." I waited, watching her reaction. Disappointed when the only reaction she showed was her brows pulling together. Glowing green orbs still locked on me.
"And how do you know this? Tell me everything you know; you piece of shit mutt." I feel a wave of energy pass over and through me, her command reaching my wolf, imploring us, and like me, my wolf cannot resist the command of Lamia.
I stared back at her, the silver bars separating us, preventing her from reaching through and breaking my neck.
Queen Lamia takes a step back, folding her arms. "You disgust me, you piece of shit." She tells me with a heated glare. "I want nothing more than to see you die. Your existence in this realm is a travesty. You should have died at birth, I bet your mother was so disappointed in the way you turned out. I know I would have smothered you with a pillow if something like you had come from my womb."
I know she was pushing me, enticing my wolf to lose control, she was saying what she felt. Showing how much she loathed me. I took the bait, biting back, flying forward, and grasping the silver bars. "You know nothing about me or my mother! You know nothing about how I grew up!" I sneered, with a growl, ignoring the burning of my palms as they gripped the bars tightly. "She was his whore, and I was his slave. I had no choice in the way I grew up. I fought my way through his ranks. I survived!" Saliva dripped from my lips drooling into the scruff of my beard as I lost it on her, my voice growing louder.
She had no idea what I went through. I didn't have the cushy life she and her band of merry knights had. I had a mother who was used and abused and a father who wouldn't claim me and used me as his personal slave. Beat me for no good reason, let others play with me as entertainment.
She leans in further, her face almost touching the silver bars. "Tell me what you know, why you feel the need to tell me about Senko. Do something good for once in your miserable existence!" She growled.
"Silas and Orion met Senko a long time ago. When I was a small boy." I began but was immediately cut off.
"We already know they met him in Tolba." She looked smug for just a second until I laughed.
"Oh no they knew him way before that, In fact, if my memory serves me correctly my mother told me they all met in Bhakhil. It's where my father obtained my mother. As I said, Queen Lamia, my mother was his whore, and I was raised as his slave. I climbed the ranks of his rogue army. I became his Beta because I was the only one he would ever trust, even then I was never fully trusted. I was conditioned to obey and serve, not question him." I turn my face away, quelling my anger. "It was the only way to survive him."
I cast my eyes at the rest of the crew who had come for the show, my eyes finally landing back on Queen Lamia and settling. "Orion had made a deal with Vargr, that's how he met Silas. Silas was there selling hybrids. Orion needed Silas' rogue army to rise to power, to overthrow his brother. Together they took over the second continent, They met a third man, an Alchemist on their travels, Senko.
The three of them made a pact and performed a blood calling. Orion, being the most powerful, was the leader of the group. Silas wanted to kill his father and take the throne to the werewolf kingdom. He hated his half-brother King Alexander. Orion wanted the throne of Riocht, he believed it was his right and destiny to rule the realm, not his brothers. Senko, well he didn't want to rule anything. With his gifts, he wanted to create a new race. He had a god complex, a very dangerous one.
"The three went their separate ways for a while. I couldn't tell you how old I was When Orion brought with him a young girl. Beautiful with light blonde hair and eyes that were innocent. She was about the same age as me, maybe a few years older. She too was an Alchemist. She had the gift of manipulating metal. Two years after she turned up, Senko joined them. They had reconnected in Tolba. I was young and I only saw her a few times, when Orion and Silas were in the same city. I always wondered what happened to her and her child, It wasn't until Silas died that I would see her again.
"As the years went by, Silas grew his army of Rogues and I fought to climb the ranks, a childish dream of making my father proud, thinking he would take notice of me if I was the strongest, the best. I always knew who my real father was, whether he claimed me or not.
"Senko and the female, Shayna, had worked side by side for years. Silas would take me with him when he would visit the compound." I take a deep breath, recalling my memories of growing up, sifting through the ones that are important, the things they should know.
"I was a young man when Shayna gave birth to Senko's child. They fell in love you see. And together they created the inhibitor chip, the crawlers, and other concoctions that enabled Orios and Silas to control shifters with the gifts of Senko and Shayna. Except that wasn't enough for Senko, he wanted to create a new race, Orion didn't like the idea of bioengineering new shifters. He may have wanted to rule but his plans didn't include the army of Changelings Senko had in mind. Or how he was using females to grow his engineered offspring. The Crawlers were enough. They were beings that were easy to control, easy to kill. They couldn't think for themselves, which is why it was so easy for Orin to control them.
"I was there the night they killed Senko, I watched as Shayna hid her child, and Orion and Silas brutally murdered Senko. They were scared of what he could do, what he could create."
"You said they murdered Senko five years ago, who is this other child he had with Shayna?" Queen Lamia asks with an impassive tone. She didn't get it; this history lesson was important.
"Patience my dear queen, this is important for you all to know." I move to the back of my cell, keeping my feet within the strip, then crouching down, but not letting my back touch the silver-coated walls. "They killed Senko maybe five years ago, but now you say he is alive. I watched him die, watched the blood spill from his torn and beaten body. Nobody comes back from that. Except…"
"Except what?" Hunji the only wolf even close to my age, says.
I look him in the eye, the damn do-gooder. "Except those who have been touched by black magic, magic from the gods who serve the underworld."
"How do you know all this if you were with Silas?" The queen asks me, she was very observant, and hardly missed anything. She truly did want to know everything. After all, knowledge was power is what Silas always told me. I then heard the same words repeated by Orion when I served him.
I ignore the question, saving that answer for later. Maybe. "After you killed Silas, and I joined Jack and Orion, I saw things. And things I had heard, things my mother had told me before her life was taken, began to make sense. I began to investigate. I started piecing everything together. Searching for answers way beyond what I had witnessed."
"And what did you find out Oliver?" I look at her, really look at her. I had wronged these people, yet these people. Her. Were the ones that would save this realm. The only ones that could save us all from what was likely coming at the hands of Senko.
"An Epitaph." I swallowed down the words, knowing this was it, the big thing, or one of the things I was going to tell them. "I acquired a stone epitaph, which foretells of a dark witch with the gift of blood Alchemy."
I repeat what I memorized from the stone before I destroyed it. I never wanted Orion or anyone else to find it. "Upon his rebirth, he will open the gates between realms once more." There was more but they didn't need to know that just yet.
"That doesn't tell me anything." The queen huffs at me, looking uninterested. But her eyes gave her away. I can see her mulling it over, connecting the dots.
"Don't you see, Senko was behind everything. Not Orion. It was Senko and Shayna who engineered everything. Without them, there would have been no inhibitor chip. No Crawlers. No poison strong enough to take you down." I point at her. "For Silas, you were a breeder, a way to make him stronger to kill his brother, and his father if he would have been alive. For Orion you were in his way, he only needed your blood to break the curse of Riocht. And Senko? Well, I imagine he would just want your blood. Your oh-so-special blood."
The queen's eyes slant and darken, lips curling up in a snarl. "What would he have done with my blood?"
"He would have cloned you or used your essence as his life force. See, as a blood alchemist, he is able to manipulate blood, clone organic matter, and DNA, and change it to his will. With your blood, the possibilities would be limitless."
I watch as something akin to fear crosses her eyes. It's gone in a split second. But I already saw it. "He already has your blood?" I question, but in reality, by the way her body goes ridged, I already know the answer is yes.
"When you and Silas held me in the cells, I was with child." My head drops. I did not know that.
I was not only responsible for the death of her mate but also a pup she was carrying. That does not sit well with me. I may be a monster, a cruel sadistic fucker who killed without remorse. But not a child. Never a child. It made me want to puke when Silas would defile young girls or whip innocent children. They weren't strong like I was. I didn't want them to have the same life I endured at their age. But I was too weak to help them. Too weak to stop Silas.
"Senko got a hold of that, my pup's DNA. He cloned the child Alpha Zane Noir, and I would have had if, it hadn't died because of what you and Silas did to me in these very dungeons!" Her voice grew louder as she spoke, almost shouting and throwing out a very sound accusation.
I see tears in her eyes, the only sign of weakness she has ever shown. The tears are for the child she never carried to term. Wounds of old memories surface because of me. If she thinks this is easy on me then she would be wrong.
"That pup did come into existence." She shocked me with the confession "Luckily for him, Senko doesn't and never will have him."
She turns to leave, grabbing her mate's hand, "Kill him fast or slowly Travis. But do kill him this time." She looks over to the Asiarian Prince, "Stay and make sure it is done." She tells him.
"Wait!" I call out before she can get too far away. Her footsteps stall as do King Mathias's, but neither turnaround. I now look over at Hunji. "Shayna had a child with Senko, but she kept diaries."
"We have all her diaries." Waving her hand to brush me off, she takes another step forward.
"Not all of them. Not the ones she wrote while here, not the letters she wrote to her love, Farid."
The queen swings around and Hunji growls at me. The Pale haired female who I believe to be Finnegan's sister gasps.
