The Delta's Daughter Chapter 134
MIKE
I walked out of the pack house we were staying at. We had traveled east, following my gut and wolf’s instincts, and had ended up at the Cheregwen Pack, located only a few miles from the coast and their packs docks. Cheregwen had one the largest ports for import and export trade and the Alpha, Jonathan Price had been more than accommodating.
I had been for an early morning run, Duke, my wolf needed to expel some energy and I agreed, we both still had so much pent-up adrenaline. I had hoped we would find something once we got here, but in the two days the three of us had been here, there was nothing. No gut feeling.
Even though we were still a few miles off from the ocean, I could still detect the salt that hung in the breeze that floated in from the east. The scent carried from the ocean and the smell of seafood could just be noted.
On any other given day as beautiful as today, being this close to the ocean I would have happily skipped my duties and taken a drive down the beaches and basked in the warmth of the sun, with sand between my toes, and let the sounds of the lapping waves soothe my inner turmoil.
“Mike, Beta Mike” I opened my eyes, not even realizing I had closed them when the sound of a feminine and familiar voice filled my ears.
I looked up to where the voice came from and saw a woman, around my age, with her arms crossed over her chest, making her way towards me. Her blonde hair was tied neatly in a ponytail and her Caramel-brown eyes trained on me, wide with surprise.
“Ella” I cocked my head in confusion. What was she doing here It was a long way from home.
Ella went to the high school in the New Moon Pack, she was Tawny’s main tormentor until we came back and Lamia bluntly put a stop to her and her friend's bullying.
From what I knew it wasn’t just Tawny they bullied, but a few other omega wolves and humans too. But somehow Tawny got the worst of it just because she was a were-cat. Ella had tried to lie about what happened between her and Lamia. It didn’t work out the way she had hoped. Then everything went down with Silas and we never saw her again.
Maybe her father had shipped her out here, “What are you doing here Ella” I asked what I was thinking.
“Wow it’s really good to see a familiar face” She smiled at me and I was stunned that it was genuine, with no hidden nastiness and none of her superior attitude that she used to carry, thinking she was hot shit because she was an Alpha’s daughter.
Just then a tall male walked up with a little girl in his arms, “Momma” she wailed holding her hands out to Ella, grasping for her. Her blonde hair and big round brown eyes are the replicas of Ella. I smiled.
The male was Alpha Price's son, Eric, A tall and lean wolf, also with blond hair. He walked over to Ella depositing the little girl in her arms and gave them both a kiss on the cheek before turning his attention to me, acknowledging my presence.
“Beta Mike, good to see you again. I hope my father had been welcoming.” He said with a knowing smile, his hand stretched out to shake mine.
“Of course, He has been most welcoming,” I replied letting go of his hand and my tight grip. It was no secret that his old man could be a stubborn mule and grumpy at the best of times. “He hasn’t given up his title yet I see.” Hinting that even though Eric was our age, his father was still the Alpha.
“No, not yet,” He chuckled, placing his arm around Ella. “Soon I hope.”
“So you guys are mates” I noted pointing out their marked necks.
Ella blushed and nodded “Yes. We met when my father dragged me out here for business two years ago.” The smile dropped from her face and she peered up at me “I’m not the same person Mike, I grew up. I’m a mommy now; living in the Cheregwen Pack really opened my eyes.” She then cleared her throat.
“How is Tawny” I noted the hesitation in her voice “What I did to her was wrong, I hope one day I will be given the opportunity to apologize to her in person.”
“I think she would appreciate that Ella. Tawny is a good person and like you, she has changed too. She is actually in Cambiador. I regret to say I haven’t spoken to her in quite a while.”
“So what bring you out here Beta, with the Queens 2nd in command and a bear shifter” Eric asked while giving his mate a little comforting squeeze.
“We are looking for someone. We were hoping to find a lead out here.”
“Who are you looking for” I smiled at Ella’s question, not sure if I should give her a straight answer or not.
“King Kellen.” I watched both their faces go from placid to shock in one motion a quizzical expression coming over both of them. “The King disappeared almost three weeks ago. I trust you can keep this to yourselves”
“Yes of course!” Ella replied instantaneously, shifting her little girl, who was playing with her hair, from one hip to the other. “How can we help”
I briefly explained to them the situation, and for some reason both myself, and my wolf trusted them. Usually, we wouldn’t trust anyone outside the ranked wolves from the palace with this kind of information.
“You need to speak to Jonda,” Ella told me after I was done telling them how and when Kellen had disappeared and my gut instinct to head this way. “She is from the Sea Dog Pack, but is regularly on this side of the water, if anyone knows anything, it would be her.”
“She discovered a trafficking gang not too long ago, they were running boats from our docks and we had no clue they were transporting humans and hybrids” Eric supplied, Hybrids being half shifter half-human. “We shut that shit down, but I couldn’t tell you if they moved to another port if that were it, once we got them. As Ella said, if anyone knows something it would be Jonda, she seems to know more of what’s going on at those docks than we do.”
I gave them my thanks and they gave me Jonda’s information before we parted ways. It wouldn’t hurt to ask her a few questions. It’s not like we had any other leads to go on.
*Hunji* I opened my mind, establishing a link with Hunji. *Let’s take a drive to the docks. I was given the name of someone to speak to. I was told they know a lot of what goes on down there.*
*Heading your way now, Tobias is with me.*
We took the 30min drive down to Cheregwen’s docks, the whole time Tobias was getting on Hunji’s last nerve. I couldn’t help but laugh, Tobias was brazen and full of jokes and was picking on Hunji’s driving, just to rile him up.
“Seriously, Kings Mother drives faster than you.” He goaded Hunji from the back seat.
I could see the vein in Hunji’s neck pulse with irritation. His jaw clamped shut tightly. There was nothing wrong with Hunji’s driving, Tobias was just being an ass and pushing his buttons.
“And what’s with the brooding all the time That’s so last century.” I saw the smirk on Tobias’ face. “You seriously need to get laid bro. Find yourself a nice female, give her a good pounding, work that scowl off your face…” He started pumping his arms by his waist and flexing his hips, but it was the face and grunts he made that had me in stitches.
“I swear to the Moon Goddess, Tobias, if you don’t shut your snout I will pull this car over and I will be having bear steak tonight!” Clearly annoyed by Tobias, Hunji gripped the steering wheel tight and kept his face forward, eyes on the road.
“Seriously though Hunji, why not, do you not like women, or do you bat for the home team I mean there is nothing wrong with that, I occasionally don’t mind sharing a bed with a male…”
