The Delta's Daughter Chapter 165
KELLEN
I waited, somewhat patiently for Tala and Jasper, pacing the small room. The guards brought me to some kind of small structure that only housed a bathroom and living room. The guard said they called it their lounge where they could grab a coffee, or a few hours of kip in between making the rounds.
The small building was at the far end of the south wall just after the female slave quarters. There were two desks on either side of the room, a couch sat in the middle accompanied by one leather chair and a small table, facing the window. The room was well lit by lamps and the only other door led to the bathroom.
The main door opened and as soon as it did, my breath hitched when my eyes met with Talas. Pulling back her hood she then flung herself into my waiting arms and I breathed her in. Instantly feeling a calming warmth wash over me and settle my wolf. Goddess I had missed her presence already.
Her little arms wrapped around my waist, holding on like I was her lifeline.
I pulled back after having my fill, my eyes scanning her, making sure she was ok. I was ready to breathe a sigh of relief until my eyes landed on the faded bruise around her neck. The handmark was obviously a man’s by the size of it.
“I’m okay,” she whispered, her voice full of guilt because I had seen it. Conri began growling in my head and I had to shove him back as he shook with rage within me, my heart began to race with anger.
‘Calm down, Conri!’ I chastised my wolf. He didn’t like that he couldn’t protect his mate and neither did I but we were not in a position to do anything about it right now. Hopefully, that would change soon.
I placed a kiss on her head, tasting the sweet saltiness of her skin.
“You need to be careful little flame; I don’t want you putting yourself in a position where you can get hurt. Please, Tala, don’t give him and Jack any reason to hurt you.” I was worried for her safety and didn’t want her putting herself in a vulnerable position it was too dangerous and I could take it if something happened to her. Especially as I couldn't protect my woman.
“I’ll try.” She said squeezing her arms around me tighter. I heard the young Beta make a scoffing sound behind her.
“She has never been able to keep herself out of trouble.” He laughed “That’s like asking a fish not to swim.” He said while plopping down onto the chair.
I led Tala to the couch where I sat, pulling her onto my lap so I hold her. I was going to keep her as close to me as possible for as long as I could.
“Jasper, shut up!” She groaned at him throwing him a glare.
For the next forty-five minutes, we discussed their plan and what they had already put in place. I was impressed that they had already got the ball rolling and had put a lot of effort into the initial planning and outline. We went over some more details, Jasper had provided a map of the palace grounds and Tala had already been able to obtain a map of the mines.
But nobody had a clue of the whereabouts of the witch Jack was after. Or even who she was.
Jasper explained I would know which guards were allies as they would discretely make a symbol of a cross with their pinkies when they came across me. This way they would identify themselves to me. Their plan to include the maids of the palace was a good idea, this way when the time came; they could help us get in and out of the castle undetected. And Tala was going to target families who had been victims of Vargr and who had family members enslaved to work the mines.
As they told me this, I couldn’t help but think how bad off this kingdom was under his rule. He didn’t just kidnap and enslave hybrids and shifters, but he enslaved his own people. The word tyrant was too soft, no, he was a dictator with an authoritarian attitude that fed his overdeveloped ego.
The Alpha wolf was a piece of shit. In my Kingdom he would have been tried for his crimes long ago and executed for crimes against humanity, a law we upheld to the last letter, not just to protect humans but to protect shifters against leaders like Vargr.
“How do I, or one of you get in contact with either Queen Lamia or the Royal Moon Pack” I asked when they finished telling me about the plan they already set in motion. It was a waiting game, but if I could get a hold of Lamia or one of the other three Knights’, I know they would be here as fast as possible and this nightmare would be over.
They would bring an army with them and Vargr would be eliminated, although his army was large it didn’t stand a chance against my Elite warriors or Lamia’s for that matter. I had full confidence in our armies. If I could get this dang chip out of the back of my neck that would be even better, then I could use my power and command his army to stand down, by letting my wolf out.
“Do either of you have one of these inhibitor chips” I asked while I was thinking about it, interrupting their discussion on how best to contact my friends.
“You’re what” Jasper asked, seeming confused by my question.
Tala, on the other hand, had a look of hopelessness while she wrung her hands tightly “No we don’t, he is our Alpha so there is no need to chip us.” She sighed. “The only way I know of, to deactivate those chips are; one – my father dies and his link to the chips dies along with him. However, that does not guarantee that if he dies you won’t. Two, you take a huge electrical shock to your system and it shorts the chip out. That is also providing you and your wolf could survive the amount of electrical current you would need to fry it.”
Jasper gave a low whistle, “fuck that’s brutal!” He exclaimed, “And you have one of those in you” He asked me pointing to my neck.
I nodded. Yep, I sure did and I didn’t like my choices of how I could deactivate it.
“How do you know about this Tala” Jasper asked her.
She squirmed on my lap, turning to face Jasper and the friction of her ass rubbing against my cock through the thin material instantly caused a reaction.
“Shayna explained to me once, said I might need to know how they work one day. We weren’t best friends and most of the time we didn’t like each other, but she did try to protect me in some ways.” She explained.
“As far as contacting your friends, let me see what we can do. Very few people here have phones, they mostly rely on landlines or mind-linking. It is another way for Vargr to control us. He doesn’t want the rest of the continent knowing what he gets up to and is paranoid about spies and his mines.” Jasper talked through his thoughts, his eyes still on my neck after learning what had been attached to me.
