The Delta's Daughter Chapter 145

6 min 1 views

Each muscle flexed as he strode toward me. I couldn’t pull my eyes from him, I just wanted to touch him, to reach out and feel him, just one touch.

When his head lifted, our eyes met, and I shuddered with desire. I was lost in the depths of his deep blue eyes. A warm sensation, building up in my abdomen had me clenching my thighs.

My breath stuttered at those blue eyes, so bright against his tanned skin and light brown hair. Take me now, my body hummed.

From my side, I felt Oliver shift his stance. His head craned around and then he looked at me. A knowing look in his eye, he looked at the Gladiator, then back at me.

A smug grin crept up from the corners of his mouth, and he bounced on the balls of his feet. Just once. I shuddered at his posture and that menacing look he now held on his face.

He knew.

He knew the Gladiator Wolf was my mate.

I took a side glance at Jack who was talking with a man next to him. He hadn’t noticed a thing. Thank goddess.

Mora was screaming ‘MATE’ over and over in my head, desperately wanting to claim her mate. I clamped my lips together, the word at the tip of my tongue, the need to say it out loud, was overwhelming.

I felt Oliver shudder next to me before he went rigged. I looked up, his eyes were wide and mouth in a tight line, lips pressed firmly together.

Was that fear The emotion in his eyes was gone before I could be sure.

I looked into the Gladiator's godly eyes again, wanting nothing more than to feel his breath on my skin, for those large hands to hold me and envelope me in his exotic scent of spice and I don’t know what the other masculine scent was, but it was divinely calming.

I gave a slight shake of my head. Please don’t say it, I silently urged him.

My father would kill him on sight. Especially as he had just announced my pairing and my mate was a slave.

I saw his face fall when I shook my head, the look of rejection in his eyes, right before Teal nudged him and he turned his back on me, walking away back to the Gladiator barracks.

My heart pounded furiously at his retreating figure and Mora cried out for her mate. He thought I was rejecting him, and a tear slid from my eye. I would never reject my mate, but I couldn’t let anyone know I had found my fated.

The need to find a way out of my pairing with Jasper had suddenly become more prominent than it was an hour ago. Now I needed to figure out how free my mate also. A sense of hopelessness came across me, now my chest fluttered for a different reason. The heat of the sun and the force of the bond made me light-headed, a dizzy spell taking over me and before I could brace myself, my legs gave out and my body crumpled.

It was too much.

I braced for impact but a pair of strong hands grasped me under my arms and hauled me up before I could hit the stone steps. I looked at my savior, Oliver. He had a concerned look on his face and gently brought me to my feet.

His actions were unexpected, but even more unexpected was the worried and troubled look he gave me.

“Hold yourself up princess; do not let them see your weakness.” Oliver’s harshly whispered words filtered into my ear. My eyes were still on the retreating figure of my mate. He turned around giving me one last glance before he disappeared back into the Gladiator barracks.

I wanted to cry out, but Oliver pinched the sensitive skin under my arm, A hard look on his face when I turned to him, his stern eyes imploring what he just said. ‘Do not let them see your weakness’ I repeated to myself.

The rest of the events that took place for the opening of the games were a blur, my mind on one thing only. The Gladiator Wolf.

I was so relieved when my father excused me and told me to take my mother back to her room as the celebration was coming to an end.

The visiting Alphas and higher ranks would be moving to the main palace hall where a banquet was set up. After the banquet, the induction of the female slaves would begin. I wanted to get my mother settled and drugged up before the events began.

I prayed that Jasper would not have to take part in the slave induction, I also knew he may not have a choice and was thankful that El and he had not marked each other. Otherwise, the discomfort or pain she would feel could be so much worse.

Another drug my sister had concocted, at the request of our father, was an herbal concoction that made a male lustful, driving his wolf with the urge to mate. I had seen it used, the male would grow hard, even without the owner being aroused his dick would stand to attention, and his wolf would want to mate.

This is what they planned to use on Jasper when they wanted us to couple. I would be given a dose of belladonna and a little wolfsbane to make my wolf compliant. Therefore allowing me to be receptive to Jasper, and him forced to mate with me whether he wanted to or not.

I hated my sister for being a smarty-pants and hated her even more for being given the gift of an alchemist. Her death was of no consequence to me, I thought I would shed a tear, but in the past few years, she had become a bitch. Selfish and power-hungry, just like my father. She deserved to die after the monstrosities she and Orion had created.

I took my mother to her room, her maid had left her some food, and she nibbled at it before lying down on her bed. She hadn’t said a word to me. Today was a great day as she knew what her mate would be doing tonight and I think she welcomed the meds, knowing if she didn’t have them she could very well die tonight.

I strapped her down on the bed because even though the medication would subdue her and leave her unconscious, her wolf could still wake and claw her own heart out. She laid down her head tilted towards the window and her eyes glazed.

I took the first needle and injected her. Once the liquid had been pushed into her she turned to me. The effects of the drug began taking hold immediately.

“Tala, my beautiful girl,” She whispered, her eyes becoming heavy, and her body relaxing. She would be out in mere seconds. “Vargr is not your father.” She again whispered and her eyes closed.

“Mum!” I said shaking her lightly, “What do you mean he isn’t my father” but she was out, the drugs doing what they were designed to do.

Was she confused What did she mean he isn’t my father
