The Delta's Daughter Chapter 157

MIKE

For the past couple of days, we had been working with Jonda who was able to get us access to the cameras that were active on the docks. We went back to the day Kellen had disappeared but we found nothing of use. It was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I have to admit I did enjoy my brief time around Jonda and if the circumstances were different I may have actually tried to hook up with her. The timing was wrong but I would take the little looks we would exchange with each other. The little lustful glances we shared would always leave me wanting more. Maybe after we had found Kellen I could pursue this profound Obsession I was developing for her.

If I was completely honest with myself, the more time we searched the more it seemed he had truly disappeared and I feared that one day his body would turn up and we would never know what really happened to him.

I knew he was still alive, neither I nor my wolf, Duke, had felt a disconnection from our King, but still, it didn’t lessen the feeling of hopelessness. For the umpteenth time, I was starting to lose faith again.

We were still staying at the Cheregwen Pack House; Alpha Price had welcomed us and allowed us to use his facilities as we needed. His son Eric had accompanied us to the docks a few times and helped us question some of the regulars and the more frequent captains whose boats shipped cargo to and from different ports and kingdoms.

It was strange to think Ella would become a Luna one day, and it was more strange to see her have an active role in the pack. Even stranger was noting how much she had changed, she was kind and supportive of all pack members and showed compassion to the Omega wolves and servants of the pack house. So different from when she was in school, the bully had become someone the humans and lesser wolves admired and looked up to.

It just goes to show that people could change and that people could become a better version of themselves. I liked to think Lamia had something to do with Ella changing and I hoped she had, or maybe it was because she was no longer under her father’s thumb

I was packing my stuff away, haphazardly stuffing clothes into my bag. We had exhausted our resources here and the three of us decided it was time to move on. We were going to head north to a smaller coastal town where boats would dock with shipments sometimes.

Hunji and Travis were both doing the same as me in their rooms, we figured we would head out this afternoon believing there was nothing more to find here. My wolf had not said a peep nor was I getting any kind of vibe from him so I figured he also thought this town was a lost cause.

I checked the room one more time, making sure I hadn’t left anything behind before I walked out and headed down to the main foyer where Tobias and Hunji were already waiting for me, talking to Alpha Price.

“It was a pleasure to finally meet you Hunji, I have heard many things about you, your reputation precedes you. Please give my good wishes to the young Queen.” Alpha Price was saying to Hunji and shaking his hand.

The older Alpha turned to me as I walked up to them, “Ahh Beta Mike, Please come back and visit us! I will soon be handing the reins over to Eric and Ella and I hope you will come to celebrate the passing of the title.” He said smiling.

“If you send the invite, I certainly hope we can make it,” I said sincerely, “I thank you for your kindness and hospitality Alpha Price. Please let me know if you find anything that might be helpful while searching for… The king.” I said letting my words trail off. If we didn’t find Kellen soon, I would have to be named successor, and truth be told I did not want to be king. I just wanted my friend back to take his rightful place.

My phone began to ring as I shook the Alpha’s hand, I pulled it out of my back pocket and saw Jonda’s name come up. I smiled, thinking she was probably calling to say goodbye. I had kept it professional with her, with minimal flirting, I was here on a mission and even though my desires were to take her to bed and have her screaming my name, I refrained. Another time, another place, I thought as I answered my phone.

“Jonda…” I said answering with a wide grin. “No, we are still here… Yah of course we will make our way there now… Ok, see you soon.” I hung up and looked at Hunji then Tobias.

“Change of plans, Jonda said she had something she wanted us to come see and to head down to the docs before we left,” I told them, watching Hunji's eyebrows pull in tight and Tobias raise an eyebrow.

“She didn’t say what it was” Tobias inquired.

“Nope just said ‘I’ve something I want you to take a look at' and to head by her office.” Tobias started laughing at me and both Hunji and I gave him a puzzled look, wondering what he found funny,

“She wants you to take a look at something” Tobias waggled his eyebrows at me.

“Grow the fuck up Tobias!” Hunji scolded him. I think after the last two weeks Hunji had really had enough of Tobias and his jokes or innuendos and he was losing patience with the Bear shifter fast.

“You know, you two are going to have to figure out how to get along seeing as you will both be serving the King and Queen of shifters and living in the same palace,” I said half teasing half being serious. They would truly, need to find some common ground, or I could see Hunji killing Tobias and then King killing Hunji. I grimaced, because if King killed Hunji then Lamia would kill King….

I gave up on my train of thought. “Come on you two, I swear I feel like the parent sometimes, not the younger sibling they way two bicker.”

We finished saying goodbye to Alpha Price then climbed in the car and made our 30min journey to the docks to meet up with Jonda. I had to admit, I was glad I was seeing her one last time. I don’t know what it is about that girl, but she had me in knots every time I saw her.
