The Delta's Daughter Chapter 49

KELLEN

We have been at Crescent Moon for five days now. It had been 3 weeks since Lamia had been taken. Every day I felt the pain of her torture and I know Zane did too.

With the aid of Alpha Eric, his son Greg and their warriors, we have been out searching every day. We still have trackers in the field now.

We were currently sitting in the dining hall of the pack house; Mike was out searching a location with some of our warriors and Alpha Eric’s, as they knew the terrain much better. Tawny was in her room and I sat there watching Zane push food around his plate.

He didn’t look good. Thankfully, they had not violated Lamia since we had arrived here, but that did not take from the fact that they were still torturing her every day. Conri and I could feel each slash of the whip, every cut they made and each broken rib. I knew if I felt it, so could Zane. At random times of the day, one or both of us would feel the pain, sometimes it was sharp, other times it came as a dull ache.

A couple of times we have had to restrain Zane, losing his shit when they began beating her. Greg asked me how I could remain so calm. I didn’t have an answer for him. On the outside I knew I seemed reserved and collected, but on the inside, I was fighting with my wolf to let lose, wanting to tear the mother fuckers apart. But I couldn’t, not until we found them, found her. As soon as we did, it would be game on. Not one fucking person who supported and followed Silas would live. Not one.

Inside I was a raging inferno, gasping for air to be let out and inflict damage upon those who dare to hurt our girl. I was angry, angry at Silas for taking her, angry at my father for keeping him a secret, angry at Zane for letting her get kidnapped, angry at Kira for betraying us, most of all, I was angry at myself for failing to protect what’s mine. Yes, she was mated to him, I had come to terms with that, but she was still mine, I still love her. I would still have her, our bond was too strong to not love her.

We just needed that one break, one freaking break, one clue as to where she was. I knew Lamia was strong, but how much more could she take before she mentally broke? I knew she would resist as much as she could. That she would take the torture until her last dying breath, but mentally I wasn’t sure how much longer it would be before they shattered her resolve and drained her of all her strength. That is if they decide to keep her alive that long.

And as if by some miracle, like the Moon Goddess had heard our pleas and answered them in the form of Mike barreling through the door.

“Kellen, you have your block up, where’s your phone?” He panted accusingly “Been trying to reach you for fucking ages.” He barked out.

Jumping out of my chair and feeling my pockets, I realized I must have left my phone upstairs. “What’s going on?”

“We have a lead…” Everyone was on their feet before Mike could finish his sentence, all asking questions in a panic. “HUSH!” he yelled, grabbing our attention as we all stood still staring at him with bated breath “We have a rogue in the cells right now, we also got a sighting of Kira, I have a tracker following her.”

“Take me to the fucking rogue.” Zane spat, striding across the room to stand in front of Mike.

Mike just nodded his head, urging us to follow. Everyone in the room started to follow. “Stop, Zane, Kellen and I will handle this. Hunji and Tawny stay here and follow up with Chris. He is tracking Kira. Alpha Eric, please assist them. Greg, come with us and Sam, if you could please fill in Alpha Zane’s Beta and Gamma, that would be most helpful.”

I was surprised but impressed with how Mike commanded the room and took control. Then again, despite his playboy and mischievous status, he was always one to take his job seriously. His father was the best and he learnt well from him. If he wasn’t my Beta, he would make a damn good Alpha.

The four of us made our way down the cells, which were in a building adjacent to their pack house. The cells were set up like a prison. Each cell that lined either side of the long hallway we walked down bore silver bars, a mat and bucket were the only items present in them. I noticed the wall had hooks where they could chain a prisoner if needed.

We reached the end of the hallway, to find a lone rogue sitting on the mat in the corner of his cell; he was not chained, just slumped over, head between his knees.

“Get up you filthy mutt!” Mike hollered.

The prisoner lifted his head and I was surprised to see a young boy, no older than 15 maybe, as I did not detect he had his wolf yet, a look of fear in his brown eyes and his greasy brown hair was sticking up like he had run his hands through it multiple times.

Mike opened the cell and stepped in, grabbing the kid by the scruff of the neck and dragging him up to his feet to stand in front of us “Tell them what you told me.” He ordered.

The kid was shaking, hands trembling and lips quivering as he tried to form words. “I...I, He, he is a monster…” the kid lowered his eyes, not daring to look at any of us. Mike squeezed his neck harder, causing the kid to whimper.

“What’s your name kid?” I asked, starting to lose my patience.

“A-Aaron, sir” he replied with a mere whisper.

“Alright Aaron, do you know where Silas is?”

“The rogue king? Yes, yes… he is at one of our base camps a few clicks northwest of here.”

“And why would you give us this information so freely?” I commanded him to answer using my Alpha tone so he couldn’t lie.

“Because… because he is a monster, he, he took my sister…” tears welled in his eyes “He hurt her badly, she was only 13, sir. He killed her after doing unspeakable things to her.” He whimpered out.

I took pity on the kid as the wet drops splashed on his cheeks. Conri was growling at what the kid had said about his sister.

Silas had to be taken down. What sick fuck violates a kid and kills her. The girl stood no chance. He was disgusting, a child molester, breaking the very code us shifters live by, spitting in the face of our creator, the Moon Goddess herself. He deserved much worse than death.

“That’s where we found the girls, the bear shifter and the younger one, out toward that way of our territory.” Greg informed us.

We left the cells, Greg ensuring the kid would be fed and given better clothes until we could figure out what do with him. Zane was adamant about killing him, but the kid was just as much of a victim. I know Zane wanted blood, his wolf desired to kill, like mine. However, it would do us no good to start killing innocents, rogue or not.

We needed to get more information out of him, but for now we headed to the Alphas office to start setting up search parties.

It was decided; we would split up into three teams, fanning out towards the northwest so we could cover more distance. Mike had stayed behind and asked more questions to Aaron, who was more than happy to answer them. The camp was a few miles over the hills, an area we had not searched yet, an area just outside of the Crescent moon pack boundaries.

Myself and Greg’s Beta, Sam would head up one team, Mike and Greg another, which left Zane and the Crescent moon Gamma, Derek to head up another team. We did this so we could stay in constant contact and the three packs could communicate via mind link. Hunji and Tawny were going to meet up with Chris and the other trackers who were following the lead on Kira.

We would head out at first light.

God I hope we find her. Morale was at its all-time low. We needed to find her; we needed to get her back. We need this win.

I just pray to the moon goddess that we will find her soon and she comes back to us.

I have missed her in the weeks she was here at Golden Circle and I have been missing Lamia even more these past weeks she has been kidnapped. I feel an empty hole in my heart. So much, too much has happened in the past 2 months since we found out she had been mated to Zane, since the night we turned 18.

I just wish I knew what Silas’ end game was. Was he trying to use her to breed or would he kill her? I can’t help thinking of what she is going through, what they are doing, subjecting her to too. Tears are brimming in my eyes. I refuse to cry. I need to stay strong for her.

We all departed, heading to our designated rooms for an early night after we had informed all the warriors accompanying us of the plan.

I head to Alpha Zane’s room, where I have been sleeping on the couch. Whether I like the arrogant ass or not, I feel it is my duty to protect him in the absence of his mate. It would do no good to let him kill himself if they decide to violate Lamia again. His death would only hurt her more and weaken her beyond repair. She would want me to protect him and I would do anything for her.

It would be so much easier if Zane or I could sense her, or better yet, her wolf. Then we could find her easily. But we had nothing.

Neither of our bonds to her were connecting, we couldn’t feel her. She had been hidden, her wolf subdued, not giving us any inclination of even which direction to head.

*****

For two days we searched, making camp in the low foothills at night, running in wolf form during the day, trying to catch a whiff of her scent, or any rogues, but it seemed futile.

This morning we had been running for around 3 hours, scouring trails and an old worn dirt road when we came across what looked to be an abandoned farm, deep in the middle of the woods on the edge of one of the smaller mountains in no man’s land. The small cottage looked like it had seen better days and the barn was all but falling down. I sent 3 of our warriors ahead to scout out the buildings. It didn’t look like anyone had been there in a long time and I didn’t have a sense of anyone present either. If everything checked out, we would camp here for the night.

*all clear your highness* my lead warrior, Adams voice came through the mind link. I relayed the information to Sam and we started heading down to the small compound, making our way to the cottage with the other warriors.

Adams was sitting on a bench as we approached and stood to attention once we were near.

“Your Highness, there are faint traces of rogue scents in the house and barn, there are also tire tracks over this way” he motioned, and began walking around the side of the building “The tracks seem to be a couple of days old, maybe four, five at the most.”

I hummed at the information. If the tracks were not even a week old and there were still scents present in the house, then it was possible that the rogues could return here. Had they taken lamia through here? It was so far out from Golden Circle, but it could be possible. And if Kira had been spotted not too far from Crescent Moon, then it was a huge possibility.

“Sir, we’ve got something!” A warrior, Paul, urgently hollered from inside the cottage.

I ran in, making my way in to the back of the house, to one of the three bedrooms. I didn’t know what I expected the warrior to find but the urgency in his voice had my wolf peaked and me hopeful.

I scrunched my eyebrows as I stood at the entrance to the small bedroom, my eyes darting around at the small bed and dirty mattress in the middle of the room to the white dresser with a single lamp. I cast my eyes back to the bed and that’s when I noticed the silver-coated shackles attached to the floor coming from under the rusty white frame of the bed.

“Sir” he said, gaining my attention, his hand stretched out to me, palm open.

I staggered slightly, taken back by the necklace he held in his hand. I slowly reached for it, like it was a mirage, as if it would disappear once I touched the object. My fingers gently caressed the bear claw pendant. The necklace Mike had given to Lamia.

She was here. She had been here.

They had brought her here and held her here at one point. Hope filled me at the thought that we were closer to finding her.

I had Sam relay the information and our location to Derek their gamma, so Zane could be informed. Sam told me they would be heading this way and would meet up with us tomorrow. They had found nothing in the area they had been searching and so far, this was the best lead.

“We will make camp here tonight, but in the woods. I don’t want this location tainted. In the mean time, let’s take a good look around. Make sure our scents are covered up in case anyone decides to come back here.” I ordered.

I wondered how Mike and Alpha Greg were faring and if Hunji and Tawny had any luck meeting up with Chris and any new info on Kira. I just hoped that if they came in contact with her they wouldn’t kill her right off the bat. Tawny was visibly upset, and rightly so, when she found out the extent of Lamia’s abuse at the hands of Silas. And Hunji, well, for a calm man who barely showed emotion towards anyone or anything, let’s just say I have seen how protective he can be of Lamia and I wondered if his cool as a cumber persona would hold steady if Kira was put in front of him. I could imagine her traitorous act would be the thing to push him over the edge.

I sent Mike a link, failing to keep the emotions and hope from my voice. *Mike, she was here, we found the necklace you gave her, she was fucking here Mike.*

*Shit Kel, That’s something. We will get her buddy, we will get her. We all want her home*His voice was hopeful but still held a melancholy of emotions.

I picked out three warriors, Adams, Paul and Jeff. I would be sending them to follow the direction of the tire tracks to see how far they could track them and if they could find out where they led to, or at least get us a good direction. The remaining 7 warriors, Sam and I would wait here for Zane and Derek’s team to join us before we made a move and figured out our next plan of action.

So far it looked like we would be catching up with the three-man team I sent to track the tire marks once they arrived. Mike and his team would meet up with us further along the trail.

We had no phone service out here, so we could only rely on linking if we were still in range. However, I opened my mind up to Lamia, in hopes that I could reach her. Our link had no bounds but I assumed she had been sedated or drugged as I had not been able to connect with her since she had been taken.

*Lamia, Lams baby, If you can hear me, we are coming for you. Stay strong baby, we will find you.*

I waited for a reply, but nothing. I hoped somehow she could hear me.

OLIVER (rogue)

King Silas had done everything to break the fucking bitch. I clenched my fist, letting my wolf surface and narrowed my eyes on Kira.

“She is fucking marked. I thought you said she would not be marked until her Luna ceremony!” I gritted my teeth and slammed my fist on the desk, heaving with turmoil.

“Silas will not stand for this, her mate should be dead by now. He should have felt her betrayal and clawed out his own heart. Her mark has not faded one bit!” I hollered at her.

Kira began to walk to my desk, her hips swaying side to side. Taking up residence in front of me and leaning against the desk, she parted her legs and scooted to sit on the rough surface, giving me a view of her woman hood under that short skirt, she ran her hand up the inside of her thigh and smirked.

“Oh but Lord Oliver, we can easily remove that mark, Silas needn’t fear” She chuckled at the end of her sentence. I waited patiently for her to tell me how. My eyes burned into hers. I was being patient but not for long. If she knew what was good for her she would divulge exactly how we could remove the mark.

Fingers trailing even higher, up in between her legs “All the King has to do is fuck her. Her mate will feel it and will soon claw his own heart out. Once he is dead, he can claim her as his own. Simple.” She shrugged her shoulders as if it was common knowledge.

“What do you think has been happening to her down there? That they have a fucking picnic every time he visits her?” I spat at her.

“Ahh but does he know on a full moon her mate bond can be broken if she has not marked him?”

Smart little fucking whore, I thought to myself, scratching my chin as I took in her suggestion. My wolf side was drooling at the thought of sinking ourselves into her, biting and marking her. He craved power as much as I did; he drove me forward in my quest for the royals death as well as my father.

The Dire Wolf was not my priority though, the prospect of mating and marking her excited me. However, if Silas could not break her and knock her up, then Silas would have to kill her. We couldn’t have her running around interfering with our plans. The true goal being, was to take the throne of the wolves, to rule all wolves. To make Alexander suffer, he was a weak king, too soft on our kind; he preferred peace with other shifters instead of going to war and making sure we were the superior race.

Receiving a mind link from one of my men that the dire wolf was awake, I pushed Kira away and stood up adjusting my tight pants as I made my way to the dungeons. It was going to be fun having the mate tear his chest out, and if her idea didn’t work, then I could still have my entertainment and enjoy every minute of it.

“Oliver…” Kira called after me. “Let me arrange her nightly visit tonight. Let Silas rest and why don’t you join me in my chambers for the evening?” She suggested, pouting her lips while looking over her shoulder at me.

I nodded before I walked out.
