The Delta's Daughter Chapter 197
What would have been: Day 23 of the Games still
TALA
Kellen was angry. I could feel it and I knew some of that anger had been directed at me when I defended Oliver. His jealousy crept off of him, you could almost see it, like dark tendrils of shadows reaching out to me and twisting across my flesh. How dark his aura was, was frightening, words were unfit for the Wolf King's thoughts. Kellen stared down his men then landed his frightening eyes on Oliver. Obsidian black eyes, the only white showing was the white mark of the Knight, bright against where his pupil would sit - If you could see them.
It was an eerie sight to see and feel. I could almost taste his strength and see how hard he was trying to rein his wolf in. His wolf was magnificent. There was a painting in my mother’s room that depicted a Goddess walking with her wolf, Kellen’s wolf was the spitting image of the one I grew up seeing every day. The look of primal carnage on his face and those vines of jealousy wrapping tightly around me made me hot. Light perspiration coated my skin, as my desire heated up.
I needed to feel him. I wanted Kellen to consume me and the desire bubbling inside began to surface to an immeasurable boil.
I wrapped my arms around my mate, scenting his spice and masculine natural smell, my tongue tasting him as my senses consumed themselves in him. Bathing in his muscular and ruggedness. My body was craving him and Mora was whimpering her lust, the need for her mate to claim her was great. So when he pushed me away a little, it surprised me when the words “I want to fuck you” came flying out of my mouth.
I didn’t even care if he took me right then and there. I needed to mate him and needed it now. The ache between my legs, pulsing and hot, I was dripping with desire.
I barely registered Jasper saying I was in heat when Kellen swept me off my feet. I couldn’t keep my hands or lips off him, nipping and kissing the skin I could touch. I wanted him to touch me.
****
I woke later that morning encompassed in large strong arms, still craving my mate's touch. My hunger for him was insatiable. I felt sore between my legs, yet for someone who was a virgin less than a few hours ago, my craving had not been satisfied. The heat had died down, but I still wanted more. Recalling the memory from earlier this morning when I had demanded Kellen to fuck me again. And he had - Over and over.
I lifted my hand, my fingers going to my neck where Kellen had marked me. Little pleasurable sparks ignited when I touched the area, again, remembering the feel of his teeth sinking into me and his cock buried deep inside me. I was barely conscious after coming down from high and my own orgasm when I told him “Again.”
I smiled and relaxed back into the safety and warmth of my mate's strong hold. A place I never wanted to leave.
“Good morning gorgeous” I heard Kellen’s voice, deeper from waking up. The husky sound stirred up all those sexual desires once again.
“You mean afternoon,” I giggled and he sat up pulling me with him so I was tucked into his side.
He sniffed me, his nose delving to the crook of my neck and taking a big gulp of my scent. “You smell like a mixture of you and me, I like it.” I could feel his smile against my neck and he softly pecked the tender skin, his lips barely grazing me, but all the same, he still left me shivering in delight.
“What happens now” I asked turning into his arms and wrapping mine around his neck. His frame pushed me down until I was laying crooked beneath him, his large masculine frame leaning above me.
“Now we go home.” He smiled.
“Your home” I gulped. The truth was, I didn’t want to stay here and hoped he would say yes.
This place no longer felt like home, it never had if I truly thought about it. My mother had taken her own life, Vargr was never my real father and consequently killed the man that was. My sister had died under the influence of Orion and that was just the tip of the shit show. Poor Jasper had been lied to just as much as me. I wanted a fresh start.
“Yes, I have a kingdom I need to take care of and I have been away far too long.” His eyes studied my face with concern “I don’t want to rush you Tala,… but,”
“I understand, and I want to go with you. My place is beside you. The only place I will ever want to be.” I told him exactly what I was feeling. I didn’t want any more lies in my life. No more.
I knew I had said the right thing when his face lit up like a lantern and he beamed a wolfish smile at me making me melt over again. It was crazy to think how much I had fallen for him without even knowing him at all. The mate bond was doing its thing, pulling us together, weaving its threads around us, and bonding our souls together for life. Now that Kellen had marked me and wore my mark, I didn’t even want to think about the possibility that we would ever be apart.
Kellen bent his head, his lips pressing against mine firmly and capturing me in a slow passionate kiss. A kiss that made my heart stop and my breath catch. A kiss that had my toes curling and sent me dizzy. A kiss I found myself lost in.
All too soon he had broken away from me, leaving my lips puckered waiting for more and I pouted from the loss of him. “Where are you going” I asked sitting up as he rolled to the side and clambered out of the bed.
“You need food and I want to get shirt sorted out here and to be honest,” He looked at me lovingly, “I want to go home, Tala. I want to take you home.”
I nodded at him, feeling a little disappointed that he didn’t want to spend the day in bed with me. I also knew it must have been so hard for him, being stuck here against his will. Thinking of him being kidnapped and sold into slavery brought my thoughts to Teal and my mother and I felt the unshed tears brimming at the surface. I took a shaky breath willing them to stay where they were while I got my emotions under control.
“Baby, what’s wrong” Kellen had noticed my discomfort and came back to my side, sitting on the bed, and wrapping his arms around me. I leaned into him needing that calmness the mate bond supplied, providing me with the love and comfort I needed at that moment.
I shook my head “I’m being silly,”
“No, you are not. Tell me what’s going in that beautiful head of yours” He soothed pinching my chin lightly and raising my head so our gazes could meet.
“I understand why my mother took her own life, she had been ill for a very long time. I understand her death.” I shuddered out a breath “It still hurts but… Teal, I, he said something to me… right before he died.” And I felt the streak of wetness glide down my cheek.
Kellen swept the tear away with his thumb “What did he say” Concern etched across his face.
So I told him, verbatim because those last words of his would be forever etched in my mind “He said his name was Teal Mac-Tire and that he was the Alpha of the Sea Dog pack. What I found strange was he told me that he was a Knight of the Red Branch and that his wolf Cuchulinn would be born again to serve his King Conri. Who is King Conri” I asked searching my brain for if I had ever heard that name before.
‘He is my mate’ Mora stirred in my head and at the same time Kellen frowned and said “Conri is my wolf.”
“I never knew Teal’s family name was Mac-Tire.” He looked perplexed, a little withdrawn as if he was lost in his own thoughts.
“Does that name mean something to you”’
“It does,” he slowly nodded, still staring off into place “MacTire is a kingdom on our continent. A long story and I’m not sure it’s mine to tell.” I could see the information had slightly rattled him or at least put him in deep thought. I didn’t want to push it; I figured he would tell me in his own time. We had the rest of our lives to learn about each other and I for one was ok with that. I didn’t care how long it took us to get to know each other, as long we were together. My wolf hummed in happiness and agreement.
*****
Later that day, after showering and another round of Kellen’s glorious cock filling me up, a large number of us piled into the large seating area on the ground floor of the palace. No one wanted to go into Vargr’s office. I was surprised to see Beta Baron there, standing close to Jasper. He was looking solemn and a little afraid at the larger-than-life shifters in the room and kept sliding worried glances towards the Bear-shifter, Tobias.
“I want to leave as soon as possible,” Kellen stated, “Jasper, what do you need from us in order to get this kingdom to a place you can begin to grow and the people start trusting your leadership” I loved that he took charge just like that, diving in to get all the necessary facts so he could make a decision, and more importantly, he took into consideration the pack members.
Jasper slid a look to me “I need to pull the slaves from the mines, make an announcement that all slaves are free and I would like to give them and their families compensation.” He smiled at me. It was something we had talked about before, what we would do when he became Alpha. "Also, we need to hold some funerals for deceased pack members."
Eloise, who standing beside him also smiled, with a proud look on her face for her mate. My eyes went wide when I noticed the mark on her neck that she wasn’t trying to cover and looked at Jasper, who smiled even bigger at me and as if knowing what my expression was for, he raised his hand and pulled the collar of his shirt to the side so I could see his mark too. The thought that those two had finally completed the mating bond made me so happy I started crying.
“Tala,” Jasper said worriedly.
El went to move towards me but I waved a hand at her telling her to stay put, “I’m just so happy for you guys. I didn’t,” I swallowed hard trying to find the words “I’m just so thankful it worked out for you guys. I love you both so much!”
I felt a little silly crying in front of all these men, in front of Kellen’s men, who one day I would be their queen. It wasn’t my strongest moment.
“I think any of the slaves who had been brought by Vargr, should be offered to stay and find a place here, or be given the means to go back to where they came from,” Jasper carried on, doing me the favor of ignoring my happy tears so as not to embarrass me.
“With my son’s permission, I would like to stay on as an advisor. We have not had council members in this kingdom since before Vargr’s rein” Beta Baron supplied. I watched for Jasper's reaction when he called him son, and when Jasper didn’t flinch, just bobbed his head, I knew they would be ok. No matter what blood ran through his veins, the old Beta still considered him his son and he still considered him a father.
“Beta Baron, my only father, was as much as a victim as the Gladiators. Not only had he been subjected to an inhibitor like the Gladiators, but he was also under the influence of Vargr’s commands and a cheating mate. He has enlightened me about much since Vargr died and the chips became inactive. He will be staying and acting as a Gamma as we begin to bring this kingdom back to a place the people can be proud of. There is much to accomplish and in time, I believe we will win back the trust of the people of Bhakhil.”
I was so proud of Jasper and I really wanted to believe that Baron was a good person and any wrongdoing he committed was down to Vargr’s influence.
“We also have another issue,” Beta Baron looked at Jasper with concern and with hope in his eyes when he regarded Kellen. “King Panja of Asiarian was mobilizing his troops as of last week. After news of Orion’s death, kingdoms have begun to start fighting. There was a gap left with his absence and now larger kingdoms are looking to take over and claim even more territory and cities. Panja is particularly interested in our mines,”
A scoff came from the dark wolf, Hunji “The old man was always a greedy bastard. Are they not still the richest kingdom this side of the water” He asked, but I don’t think he was looking for a reply. Beta Baron's remark had physically upset him and his eyes had become impossibly darker and I could see the vein in his forehead throbbing.
“Yes, and he also had the largest army. Our army is big and trained well, but we will lose if it comes to war. The only reason he had not attacked before was because of Orion. He feared Orion like everyone else.” Beta Baron explained.
“He also has many children, refusing to complete the mate bond and keeps many mistresses.” I looked at Jasper shocked. How could someone deny the mate bond for so long and keep a harem of women in front of her I had never met King Panja, and I hoped I wouldn’t.
After discussions about the future of Bhakhil and me announcing that I would be handing over 50% of the mines to Jasper and Eloise so they would have the funds to put into the pack, Jasper, Cameron, and El left to go make announcements. One of the announcements was that the Gladiator Games, effective immediately would cease. Instead, a celebration would be held on the full moon to solidify a new beginning and a new Alpha and Luna.
I was a little sorry I wouldn’t be here to witness Bhakhil’s new beginning. However, I was more than excited that I would get to travel and see the outside world through my own eyes instead of through the pages of a book. That and I was anxious to see my mates home, my new home.
“I think we should leave tomorrow, it seems as though this Jasper has things under control and we won’t be needed. We could leave a few of our Elite warriors to help train the army, in case this other king does come looking for a fight.” That was Kellen’s Beta, Mike. A handsome and large male, he seemed to have charisma surrounding him and a face that said he could be a handful but was a kind and playful person.
“You just want to get back to your little obsession.” The large man who was a bear shifter said while laughing at the Royal Beta.
“Obsession” Kellen laughed but looked at Mike quizzically.
“Yep, Mike fell on his knees, literally for the Sea Dog pack Alphas, sister. Pretty sure he almost cried when he left her at the docs.” The bear shifter laughed some more.
“Shut it, Tobias,” Mike warned the bear shifter whose name I just learned and then turned to Kellen with a serious look “Her name is Jonda and she is coming home with us.”
Kellen stared at his Beta, their eyes locked like they were having a private conversation. I was right when the Beta looked at me, stunned. “Well, I’ll be damned!” He chuckled “It really is a small realm.”
It took me by surprise when the large wolf shifter named Hunji spoke again, hearing his voice for the second time. His deep voice, somewhat husky, matched his outer persona. Dark, quiet but dangerously handsome, his tanned skin, onyx eyes, and long hair made him look like one of King Panja’s Royal commanders. Intimidating, wild, and savage. “I will not be returning with you, King Kellen.” His voice almost commanded the room.
“Why not” Kellen asked him with a frown, those beautiful blue eyes darkening.
“Queen Lamia sent me on a mission. After finding you, I have been tasked with a quest to go looking for Finnegan’s sister, supposedly she has been locked up for years because of her witch background. Her last known location was somewhere close to Andora.” He remarked and I jumped up from my seat on Kellen’s lap.
“The witch The witch is Finnegan’s sister” I said with a little too much excitement because I actually knew something they didn’t. This was all too much, “Jack wanted the location of a witch, and I gave Oliver one of my sister’s diaries that told him the location, or at least the last known location of the witch. It was part of the original deal we made. Jewels and the location of the witch and he would help me. She recorded everything, but the diary didn’t mention a specific location, just that she was in Andora and no name was mentioned either. I don’t think Orion let anyone near her or wanted anyone to know who she was.” I explained to them.
“Why is everyone after this witch What is so important about her” I was curious; I had heard of witches, we even had some shifters in our pack that had ancestors that were witches. Witches were healers, sometimes they had intuition and could manipulate plants and herbs, otherwise, there was nothing more to them, and they were essentially humans.
