The Delta's Daughter Chapter 167
TALA
I couldn’t believe I marked him, I didn’t regret it, but I was definitely mad at my wolf. Mora had seen her opportunity to push through and take over and she took it. Lost in bliss when my orgasm started to rip through me, she took advantage of my vulnerable state, coming to the forefront and marking her mate.
I didn’t even know my mate, Kellen, only what Oliver had told me. Yet I had all these feelings for him, feelings that I didn’t understand, or at least understand where they were coming from.
‘The mate bond’ Mora’s voice filled my head for the first time in a long time. After marking Kellen I was feeling her presence more than ever.
‘How can I feel so strongly about someone I don’t know I don’t even know his age, or if he has siblings, What his favorite food is, or color,” I began ranting to her.
‘All in due time, we can get to know these things. Our mate was made for us. We will love everything about him’ My wolf spoke, her words having a calming effect on me. Telling me there was time.
“Jasper,” I called out to him, just as we had reached the back of the palace. I was still feeling guilty about what I had done, knowing this could be a huge hindrance. “I marked Kellen,” I admitted to him, feeling my cheeks heat with embarrassment.
“You did what” He whisper yelled at me. “Please tell me you didn’t” He gave me a pleading look and brushed his hand through his hair with frustration.
“I wish I could, but I did.” His attitude was making me feel uncomfortable.
“For fucks sake Tala, not only did you mark a slave, but now you are going to go into heat!” He was pacing back and forth and I began wringing my hands together.
“I didn’t mean to! My wolf… I understand how you and El feel. I didn’t know the pull of the bond could be this… potent.” I tried to defend myself.
“Fuck Tala,” Jasper groaned, “You could go into heat at any time between now and the full moon. Every unmated male will smell you and your mate is not free to protect you.” He stopped pacing and turned to face me giving me a look of pity. “Tala, it’s ok. We will work with it, we just have to move faster and if we can’t, then we will have to hide you. I’m not even sure if your masking spray will cover the scent of a she-wolf in heat.” He explained seeming a little calmer, but still agitated.
I had really messed shit up. And it was only dawning on me now, how badly things could go. If I went into heat without my mate… It was open season on me if I couldn’t find a secure location to hide myself and my scent.
“It’s ok Tala, we will figure it out.” Jasper tried to reassure me, embracing me in a comforting hug. “It’s late get inside before someone sees you.” He hooked his finger under my chin, forcing me to look up at him “Everything will work out, don’t fret. You are stronger than this. Now go.” He said and released me.
We went our separate ways and snuck in through kitchens and was just about to open the door to head up the back stairs when a voice in the dark startled me.
“A little late for a stroll don’t you think, Princess” I whirled around to where the voice came from and Oliver stepped out from the shadows.
“Are you spying on me now Oliver” I accused him and he just chuckled.
“Do you have what I want” He asked, crossing the room with arms crossed, his light brown hazel eyes holding a slight orange glow to them. His predatory gaze made me feel uncomfortable.
“I have a map of the mines,” I stated.
“And the other thing” He cocked his head waiting for an answer.
“I don’t have information on that. Not yet. But you won’t be getting the map until I get what I need from you. Do I have to remind you that it isn’t the end of the week yet” I bravely spoke, holding myself as tall as I could.
Oliver took steps towards me and I stood proud refusing to back down or away. Looming over me and invading my personal space he scented my neck in an intimate way, making me shiver with disgust at how close he was.
“I won’t hurt you,” He whispered next to my ear “I promise.”
I didn’t dare move but when I felt his tongue gently lick my neck, my hand came up ready to lay a hard slap on his face. Oliver caught my hand and chuckled “Now, now princess, I just wanted to know how close you and the Prince had gotten. Not as close as I was thinking, still, too close.”
He let go of my hand and took a step back. “Princess, I want out of here and fast. Are you aware there is a power struggle going on on this continent Your father has declared war on several other packs. Each kingdom has internal wars. All I wanted to do was get away from the fighting, yet Jack seems to have dragged me into another war that I want no part of.”
“So you will abandon your friend” I asked a little confused.
“Yes. I told you I want out. I have lived as a rogue far too long and I am done with taking orders. The diamonds from the Mine will set me up nicely as I have told you. That’s all I want, to be able to disappear and live out the rest of my life in luxury. No wars, no rogue kings, no Orion’s, and no King of the Wolves.” He said backing up a little more.
“Did you know I was the one who gave the order for Kellen’s parents to be killed” I looked at him in shock, no wonder Kellen loathed him, his hate was deeper than just Jack and Oliver selling him into slavery. “I bet he didn’t tell you I was also the one to orchestrate the kidnapping of his little queen Held her for weeks, months, watched Jack and his friends violate her over and over again.”
“You are a vile wolf, Oliver!” I spat at him.
He clicked his tongue at me, “Tsk, tsk, little princess. Now, do you see why I need to disappear If Kellen gets free he will kill me, if I stay by Jack's side he will drag me through another war and it is not always three times the charm, especially for a wolf like me.”
“Why are you telling me this Oliver” I narrowed my eyes at him, watching his face closely, trying to determine his angle.
