The Delta's Daughter Chapter 132

LAMIA

Mathias walked into the Clan Mansion, Xander and Abner close behind him. The smell of blood permeated the air and clung to Mathias covering up his scent of aged black rum and vanilla. I crinkled my nose at the offending metallic and stale scent and my stomach churned. Certain smells would set me off and it was a tossup of whether I would be ‘tossing’ up my stomach or not.

“Did he say anything” I asked Mathias as he bent to kiss me.

“No.” Was his one-word answer. I looked into his Silver eyes holding them for a moment.

“Did you give him a chance to say anything” I asked then raised my hand to cover my nose, the scent of blood making my insides gurgle and had me gulping the thick saliva that sat at the bottom of my throat.

They were meant to be interrogating Finnegan, who had been sitting in the same cells my father and I had once been housed in. Although, I had a feeling they had just been working him over and not even asking him any questions, or giving him a chance to answer anything they asked.

Mathias held a deep-seated hatred for his brother Finnegan, even if he did save my life at the battle of Riocht. I’m not sure where the hatred stems from if it was just because Finnegan had been considered Orion’s first-hand man or because he had put his hands on me the first time we saw him. Maybe it had something to do with him being his brother. I don’t know, but if we were going to get anything out of Finnegan, they had to stop beating the shit out of him.

“Where’s Ria” Xander asked, his honey-brown eyes wandering around the large sitting room like he expected her to jump out at any second, declaring ‘here I am!’

“You need to mark that girl so you can mind-link her.” I say pointing a knowing finger at him “Besides, she is with your mother, she took on a tour of the Clan territory, hoping she will fall in love with the Kodiak Kingdom and never want to leave.” I smile at the thought. Amitola, Xander and Mathias's mother, was so excited that Ria would be coming here that she made an itinerary of things they could do with each other.

“I want to speak with Finnegan,” I stated loudly. If they weren’t going to get answers from him, maybe I could.

“Absolutely NOT!” Mathias growled out. “He tried to kill you!”

“He also saved my life, King!” I argued back at him.

“There is no way I am letting my pregnant mate near his sorry ass!” I could see the veins in his neck and forehead pulsing. He was being overprotective and unreasonable.

“I remember you were going to kill me at one point too!” I made him recall my time in the dungeons and then the time he had been drinking from a bottle of rum that had been laced, altering his mind. Travis and Rhett were still running an investigation as to how that had happened and still trying to find Orion’s sleeper cells, spies, whatever you want to call them. Not just at MacTire but also at the New Moon Royal Pack.

Rhett had been working closely with Tyron, who would eventually be the new Delta in the Royal Pack. If, no, when Kellen was found. Another reason Finnegan needed to be questioned not beaten. He may know something about Kellen’s disappearance.

At this point, Mike and I would take anything, no matter how small or insignificant the lead. I felt so useless and couldn’t help but wonder if this was how they all felt when I had been kidnapped.

I hadn’t felt any of Kellen’s pain since those first days he had disappeared and I wasn’t sure if that was a good sign or not. I knew he was alive. I could sense it, rather my wolf could sense it. Every day, several times a day I would try to reach out to him, but every time I was met with a block like he had put a permanent wall up to block anyone mind-linking him.

It had been almost three weeks now. Mike, Hunji, and Tobias had not found any leads. The trail is as cold as the day he went missing. I felt tears gather in my eyes and bit them back. I had to be strong for Kellen, yet these damn hormones made it hard to control any emotion.

Where are you, Kellen
