The Delta's Daughter Chapter 91
KELLEN
The Bear King was huge! And I would be lying if I said I wasn’t intimidated by his sheer size and the power rolling off him. Even my father was having a hard time not bending his knee to him, his aura was that strong.
I knew they had completed the mating process, I could smell his scent mixed with Lamia’s and I had to bite my tongue. When Mike protested his distaste for her mate, I thought the bear king was going to shift right there and then and rip Mike apart.
Mathias was her king, a bear shifter, and she looked happy about it. I think that’s what got me the most. That she looked happy about being mated to the king of bears. A fucking bear! After everything she had gone through, I thought the moon goddess was playing a nasty trick on her. And I hated to admit it but, there was no one better or stronger than him to protect her. Not even me.
I didn’t like it not one bit.
After our talks we all headed out of the conference room. Towards the pack dining hall, the kitchen staff had prepared lunch for us. Mathias and Lamia had filled us in about their mating and Odeia, who I came to know, was really Ashe. They also brought us up to date on Orion, who was Mathias’ Uncle or his real father. They think he had a major role in the attacks and probably something to do with the creatures we have been calling crawlers.
And then they had to find the lost city of Riocht?
Mike's father had said he would start looking in the library in regards to the lost city, Aunt Olivia volunteering to help along with Aunt Vivian.
The conversation around the table was light, my father and Mathias talked business, and his 2nd in command talked with Uncle Marcus. The other bear shifter, Xander, made conversation with Uncle Michael. While Lamia talked with our moms, the only one quiet was Mike.
I could feel him stewing from here. Not happy about Lamia’s mating. I knew he was still in love with her, and in most ways I was too. So I understood his feeling of being gutted, but it seemed he was taking it to a whole new level and personally.
Mike’s side-eyed dirty looks towards the bear king did not go un-noticed.
Lamia got up to leave the table, so she could make a phone call to Tawny, obviously worried about her best friend. Mathias stood to go with her, but she asked him to stay. She needed privacy. He nodded and complied but I could see he hated just the thought of her being out of his sight. He would protect her, I was sure of it.
“Do we know exactly what Orion’s intentions are?” My father asked Mathias.
“No, however, Odeia has seen a war coming and we believe he is a huge part of it. When one of our Clans was attacked, the first time we saw the Crawlers, there was a rogue wolf Lamia recognized. She called him Oliver…” A collective growl from the table erupted at the mention of his name. “… It was after that, that Orion appeared to us in Lonely City.”
“I hope to fuck you can keep her safer than her last mate from Oliver.” Mike spat venomously.
The loud scrape of a chair had us all lifting our heads towards the bear king, who now stood tall. Chest puffed out, hands clenched, eyes wide with a murderous glare aimed right towards mike. “I can take care of my own MATE, little pup!” He gritted with a tight jaw at Mike, who stood from his own chair.
“That’s what he said! And do you even know what happened to her?” His chest was heaving in anger and his face straining with a heated glare.
“I am fully aware of what happened to her. Every. Fucking. Detail.” The bear king was at his limit and their voices were escalating.
*Mike calm the fuck down man* I tried to link him but his walls were up.
“You have no idea! I was the one who pulled her out of there! I was the one who saw what those fucking monsters did to her! Those fucking bears!” He roared at the king, his temper flaring beyond control, his eyes began to change, the hazel swirling and the marks on his pupils appearing like little white beacons. “Your fucking kind almost killed her, they ruined her, they killed her…!”
The almighty roar that shook the castle walls had everyone cowering, and faster than you could blink the bear king shot over the table, claws extended and eyes wild and glowing a brilliant silver, his large hand wrapped around Mike’s throat as he held him in the air, at eye level with himself, cutting off Mikes next words. His fur began to spurt across his body ready to shift. His brother, Xander and Tobias moved towards him.
“Mat, let him go” Tobias tried to reason with him.
“What the heck is going on?” Lamia came barreling into the room, and into the king knocking him from Mike.
She growled at the king, placing herself in a protective position in front of Mike. “If you kill him, I will NEVER forgive you!” She shouted, her eyes glowing green, her wolf was on the surface. “How the hell are we meant to fight this battle if we are at each other’s throats!” she seethed, staring down the bear king as his fur and claws began to retract, still his wild eyes held anger.
He snatched Lamia by the arm and drug her out of the room and through the back doors, towards the tree line with a shifter speed faster than her. On instinct, I was out the door running towards where he dragged her. I barely heard Tobias' words as I ran towards where they disappeared, scared that he would hurt her.
“He won’t hurt her, he loves her!” Tobias’ words rang out.
I ran deep into the forest, following her scent, and halted my steps when I heard them. “I can handle the sass little wolf, but my beast and I cannot handle the disrespect. Not from him, not from you,” His harsh words reached my ears.
I peered around the tree. He had her front pinned against a tree, his large hands wrapped around her hair, yanking her head back hard.
Using one hand, he dropped his pants and then tore hers from her body. I watched him roughly shove his cock into her from behind and begin thrusting into her harshly.
“You are my fucking mate, my little wolf. Do you understand?” he snarled while pumping into her.
“Yes” she moaned.
“Say it. Let me hear you say it,” he commanded.
“Yours, Mathias’, only yours!” she moaned out between her pants.
“You belong to me. Mine to touch. Mine to fuck. Mine to pleasure. ”
“Yes my king, YES!” She began to scream as he pumped wildly into her.
I turned away, going back to the palace. I had seen enough. Heard enough. My wolf whimpered, yet again she was not ours and the memories of her and I together filled my head. The look on her face as the king took her was pure ecstasy.
A look she never had with me, one I doubted she had with Zane either.
Dear Moon Goddess, I hope you got this one right, this time. For her sakes, I silently prayed. I suppose a small piece of me still hoped she would have been my queen, would have returned to my side. That she would have chosen me.
Who am I kidding? A large part had hoped, and with that thought came a mournful and pityful howl from my wolf, one I felt down to my very core.
I will always love her, just like Mike does.

MIKE
I had poked the bear, in the literal sense. I just couldn’t help it. How could the moon goddess do this to her? How could Lamia be OK, being mated to him, a bear shifter?
I rubbed my throat, and coughed at the still lingering tight feeling of having my neck squeezed in strangulation. I thought I was a goner until Lamia came bursting in, knocking the king out the way and standing in front of me, protecting me from her mate.
I watched Kellen run out after them, taking a deep breath into my lungs, my head still fuzzy from the lack of oxygen.
“Come on Casanova,” Tobias lifted me from the floor, where I still slumped, trying to regain my composure. “You are lucky he loves her, otherwise I think he would have ripped your head off.” He chuckled. I just scowled at him. “He hasn’t lost control like that since he met her. You must have really ruffled his fur”
“It takes either one stupid fuck, or one brave idiot, to challenge a god like that” Xander mused with amusement in his voice.
“A what?” Kellen gasped as he reentered the dining hall. Thank the gods it was just us and no other pack members were around.
“He’s not just a shifter; he’s a demi-god. His beast is the reincarnated spirit of Arcas.” Xander deadpanned.
A fucking god!
“Umm, you do know Lamia has the blood of the gods running through her veins, right?” He looked at all of us in turn, his brown eyes settling on her parents.
“Yes, we know what she is, but his lineage is news to us,” Uncle Marcus claimed; a perplexed look on his face as he ran his hands through his hair.
“It makes sense why our daughter is mated him” Aunt Vivian piped up; she had been quiet throughout the whole fiasco until now.
Tobias clapped a hand on my shoulder, “Beta, why don’t you show me where you stock the good stuff? I don’t know about you, but I could do with a drink.” A smug smile danced across his mouth.
“Yah,” I nodded, The humiliation of what happened only just grasping at me. “I think I could do with more than one.” I admitted.
Kellen, Tobias, Xander and I left the parents and headed towards the first floor games room, which had a fully stocked bar. Kellen pulled out a couple of bottles and began pouring drinks. He hadn’t said much. A dubious and tentative look filled his features. I could see the cogs turning in his head. He was processing, being the calculative person he is, I knew he had to process everything first before he could or would make a statement.
“You were there for their mating ceremony?” Kellen asked Xander when he handed him his drink. Three fingers of whisky.
“I was” He smiled broadly, like an excited child. “I watched the whole thing!” The excitement in his voice had Tobias raising a brow at him.
“Tell me everything” Kellen said, in a ‘no bullshit’ commanding tone.
“Watching them fuck was weird…” Tobias and I collectively spat our drinks out.
“You watched them fuck?” Tobias asked, stunned.
“Well yah, it was this whole ritual thing, they painted their bodies, chanted some ancient shit, they began fucking, and then they glowed when the moon peaked. He marked her and then she marked him and then we left, after the two of them got everyone all horny and shit.” He said it like it was no big deal.
“It’s the prophecy. Ashe, or Odiea, told her over two years ago, that this would happen, that there was another she would be mated with. Someone stronger than all the rest.”
I put my hand over my heart, rubbing the newly formed mark on my chest. I watched as Kellen did the same.
“The four knights” I whispered, looking at my friend and soon to be king. He nodded his head.
“This explains why my wolf went wild. The pain, it must have been when she marked him.” He said to me.
“Yah well why the fuck did I get hit with lightening? And what the hell happened to Hunji?” I asked Kellen, like he had the answers. “Who is the fourth?”
“I think it might be the Hunter Rhett, from what Travis said on the phone this morning.” Kellen seemed to think as he spoke, ruffling his hair with his hands and letting out a big puff of air.
A minute later, Lamia wandered into the room and stood by Kellen, eying me. She reeked of him and she was wearing a different pair of pants.
“You OK?” her eyes roaming my form, inspecting me for injuries.
“Yah” I answered, embarrassed. “Where is your… Mate?” I hesitantly asked, looking at the door she came through.
“He is with our fathers.” She took a sip from Kellen’s glass. “We are leaving this evening. Heading back to MacTire, I need to be there.” She stated.
“Another ride in ‘Birdie’?” Xander clapped his hands together. “I knew you would love it” he laughed.
“No Xander, I will be driving with Mathias. ALONE” she stated with resolve in her voice. “We are stopping at Golden Circle on the way.” Her voice dropped to almost a whisper.
My eyes saddened for her. She hadn’t told her mate everything. I know this now, looking at her. Seeing the sadness in her eyes, I knew, I knew she was going to tell her mate, or show him, about her Zander.
“You and Tobias can meet us there if that’s how you want to travel.” Lamia said, looking directly at Xander, then turning to me and Kellen, “I need you two to come to MacTire also,” her lips stretching into a big smile, a conniving one. “And I think you should go with these two, in ‘Birdie’” She all but laughed, stifling it with her hand.
“NO. Fuck no!” Kellen said.
“YES!” I cried out “Come on man, a freaking helicopter!”
“A death trap is what it is!” He countered me.
“Kellen, come on man, what a frickin way to arrive! I wonder if we could get Travis into it?” I laughed at the thought.
“That is exactly why you two need to be there. I don’t think Travis is going to handle two bear shifters landing a flying contraption in our territory. I have no idea how he will react to me being mated to a bear shifter as it is.” She grimaced at the latter.
