The Delta's Daughter Chapter 155

KELLEN

Teal left me, turning and leaving the common area without another word after telling me the person was waiting for me in the armory.

I couldn’t figure out for the life of me who would risk visiting me in the barracks at this time of night. As I made my way closer to the weapons rooms I caught the scent of Oranges and Sea salt. Conri was mentally whipping his tail around in my head, the scent of our mate driving his senses and hormones into a frenzy.

My heartbeat picked up as I drew nearer to the entrance, realization dawning on me that my mate was here. Then came the worry. This was no place for a woman. I noticed two guards standing outside the room and as I approached they nodded their heads and stepped to the side allowing me entrance.

As soon as I entered a figure in a black cloak turned to me, and my eyes met her cerulean blues. My heart beat furiously and my body began to tremble as I tracked the parting of her lips, a barely whispered gasp leaving her perfectly shaped rosebud lips. It took everything in me not to rush to her.

“Mate.” She whispered.

“Mate,” I repeated just as low, still not believing this little flame now stood in front of me… finally.

She lifted her hands and removed the hood of her cloak, revealing her long silky red hair that was pinned up. I took slow steps toward her, not wanting to scare her. I could feel her nerves rolling off of her in large waves. I was sure she could feel my apprehension just as much.

She was so beautiful. Like a beacon of light, emanating warmth that was everything good and pure like the goddess of hope. I was lost for words, just staring at my little flame, not knowing what to say, lost in the depth of her eyes, my eyes caressing every line of her dainty face, committing each soft and feminine perfectly structured line to memory.

While I tried to find words, it was she who spoke first, “I’m sorry it took so long for me to come to see you. It was not easy.” She said and looked down to the ground. The harsh accent of this kingdom sounded soft and melodic coming from her.

“Thank you for coming,” I said. I didn’t know what else to say. All I could think about was capturing her lips with mine. Taking her in my arms and breathing her in. I wanted to know what it was like to hold her, to feel her creamy skin under my fingertips, to let my hand tangle in her silky red hair.

I took in a deep breath and took a step closer to her, wanting to touch her. “You’re even more beautiful in person.” She said breathily.

I groaned, knowing I affected her just as much as she was affecting me. I felt myself blush at her words, I had never been called beautiful and I wasn’t sure I would have ever associated that word with myself.

I was only wearing the standard thin pair of white shorts the guards gave us and as she cast her eyes down my body with an appreciative look, I felt a hunger rise within. She licked her lips and I felt a stirring below.

I had no idea it was possible to want someone this much without knowing them and without ever touching them.

“Tala,” I called her name and she pulled her wandering gaze from my body and met my eyes showing her surprise that I knew her name and not even trying to conceal her lust for me.

“Kellen,” She breathed out and I groaned again. My name on her lips was like the sound of an angel, but with her fiery red hair, she looked more like a she-devil.

“You know my name” I asked, also surprised.

She gulped and nodded “Oliver told me who you are.”

An involuntary low growl crawled up and out of my chest at the very sound of that piece of shit's name. I had not forgotten how he held her arm yesterday, how he looked so comfortable standing with her.

“What is your relationship with… him” I growled out not even able to say his name. “He is not a good person.”

“I have no relationship with him, and never will if I can help it. He is Jack the bear’s friend. He is no friend of mine.” I detected hostility in her voice when she spoke of Oliver and it lessened the building inferno of rage that had begun coursing through my veins.

I was also relieved to know she had no relationship with him and seemed to detest him. I let out a breath of relief at the admission. I couldn’t guarantee my reaction if she had said anything other than what she did. She also spoke with confidence and truth.

“You have been promised to another, will you reject me” I know it didn’t come out right, but I had to ask. I needed to know and I didn’t think I would be able to handle another rejection. I still hadn’t moved passed Lamia, but with Tala standing in front of me I was beginning to realize the bond Lamia and I had felt was so minimal compared to the pull I was feeling now.

This was so awkward, if I wasn’t a slave and trapped in her so-called father’s pack I would have already broken the barrier between us and kissed her, accepted her, buried myself deep inside her, marked her, and claimed her as mine.

However, I didn’t know what her intentions were. Why she was here. Was it because she didn’t want me Or was it because she wanted me This situation was so fucked up and I was acting like a love-sick fool, like a kid who had his first crush, flustered and unconfident.

She sighed and shook her head, a deep longing setting in her features, her crystal eyes softening as they held mine. “I don’t want to reject you, Jasper and I do not want to be paired. In twenty days my father and his, Jasper's, will forcefully make us mate.” I saw her eyes fill with tears and I moved forward not liking to see her upset and I tried not to get angry at the thought of someone else claiming what was mine.

My hand came up to cup her cheek and when I made contact with her soft, smooth ivory skin, my hand jumped back as I felt the warming sparks dance across my palm. She gasped and placed her hand where mine touched looking just as shocked as I felt.

Lamia and I had felt the bond, we still do, but with Lamia the tingles were pleasurable but they were nowhere close to the feeling of when I touched Tala. The sparks were strong, warm, sensual, calming, and arousing, causing so many emotions and irrational feelings. I wanted to feel them again. Such a strong reaction compared to what I had experienced with Lamia.

I stepped closer to her, leaving but an inch of a gap between us. I can’t say it didn’t hurt when she stepped back out of my reach. My wolf growled in my head, urging me to be closer to her.

Every step I took, she took one back until she was between me and the stone table behind her. My hands came up either side of her, caging her in. The moon from above shone down through the opening in the roof, casting its glow across her.

Beauty in its purest form was all I could think of as I looked down on her. If there was ever a woman who could rule my heart, it was this fiery little goddess that I stood before. I hadn’t even kissed her, but already I knew she had the power to bring me to my knees.

I leaned in so I could breathe in her scent, barely touching her with my nose.
