The Delta's Daughter Chapter 151
I turned before I slipped out the door and like a child I stuck my tongue out at his back. I fucking hated him. His words were embedded in me. It hurt to hear him say he should have had me terminated.
I had no idea what I had ever done to him, for him to hate me so much.
I ran down the hall making my way back to my room when I slammed into a hard wall. I stumbled back, bracing myself to fall on my ass but a pair of hands held me up and I looked up at the person who had my arms in their hands.
I sneered when I realized it was Oliver.
“What has you in such a rush little princess” He asked with amusement, his eyes twinkling with a mischievous glint.
I was about to reply it was none of his business when his hand lifted towards my face and I flinched as he touched the swelling bruise on my cheek. A deep scowl took form on his face as his thumb gently caressed my cheek.
“Who did this” He asked sternly.
I huffed “That is none of your concern Oliver. Sir.” I said turning my face from him.
He grunted and pulled me by my arm towards my room, opening the door and pulling me inside with him, closing and locking the door behind him.
I began to shake. Had my father already given him the OK to use me as payment Seeing my turmoil, Oliver’s face softened slightly. “I won’t hurt you Tala, I promise.”
I again scoffed, not meaning to. I highly doubted he would hurt me. He was Jack's friend and I had seen how Jack treats women and just what he was capable of and I knew he was no better.
Oliver sat down on my bed looking comfortable as he looked around my bedroom. I wrapped my arms around myself, still standing in the middle of the room.
“Why do you guys insist on escorting me What does my father owe you” I spoke up confidently, even though I didn’t feel it after a few moments of silence between us. The silence was what provoked me to speak.
“Do you know what, or who we sold to your father” He asked; his hazel eyes trained on me.
I shook my head. I expected it must have been slave girls as that’s what Jack did. Sold slaves. He had known my father and Orion since He was a boy and had grown up in the world of trafficking.
I had once overheard my father talking about Jack. How he had been born a rogue and when his father died he had taken over the business at the young age of 15. So yeah, anyone who associated with Jack was just as vile in my eyes.
“I know the Gladiator slave is your mate.” Oliver declared and then sat and stretched out across my bed, folding his hands under his head, looking like he had no care in the world.
I gasped, afraid he would tell my father, and I began to fidget, trying to think of what to say, I knew he knew but I didn't think he would be so bold about his knowledge.
“Don’t worry little one, I won’t be telling your father. Or Jack for that matter. At least not today.” He casually said, still lying on the bed like it was the most natural thing ever, making himself comfy.
“Why” I whispered. Not understanding why he would keep my secret.
He raised his head to look at me and cocked an eyebrow. “Maybe you can help me if I keep your little secret. Maybe by keeping your secret, it may benefit me.” He smirked and then laid his head back down.
“Again why would you keep my secret, and how could I help you” I unfolded my arms. At this point, I was more curious about him than I was afraid.
“Come sit next to me. Lets us… chat before the games.” He patted the space on the bed next to him.
I cautiously moved towards my bed, hesitating when I got to the edge. “I won’t bite” he chuckled, “Unless you want me to”
I took a step back, the fear coming back of what he may do to me.
“Tala, sweet Tala. I promise I will not touch you like that. I just want to talk, nothing more.” He sounded sincere, but I couldn’t trust him. Even so, I stepped up to my bed and sat down next to him.
My hands were slightly shaking and clammy. Why couldn’t he just leave me alone
“Your mate,” Oliver started, “He’s what your father owes Jack for. The payment was meant to be a life for a life. He gets the king of the wolves, Jack gets the witch,”
“What” I asked, not sure if I heard him right or not. My mouth hanging open and eyes wide with shock.
Oliver chuckled again and then turned on his side, propping his head up in his hand. “Oh, you didn’t know your mate was the king of wolves Kellen Moon, I helped kill his parents and when Jack and I ran from the battle of Riocht, Jack just happened to come upon him and kidnapped him. Very clever is Jack, even if he doesn’t seem it.” I saw his eyebrows pinch together, seemingly thinking about something or someone.
“See, aside from chips and money, the one thing Jack wanted in exchange for King Kellen was Orion’s daughter, the witch.”
I looked at him confused, everyone knew about Finn his son, but his daughter This was news to me.
“The problem is, this witch was hidden away, and no one knows where except for your father and he refuses to tell us. Or he really doesn’t know where she is.” He leaned over and took my hand in his. “Tala, if you can find out where the witch is, then Jack will go away. If Jack doesn’t get his witch, then he will set his sights on you.”
“Why are you telling me all of this, Oliver. Sir” I asked sounding respectful as I did not need another confrontation today and I certainly didn't want to anger this wolf. I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to know but now I needed to. The last thing I wanted was Jack the bear to set his sights on me. A little shudder went through my body at the thought, a cold sensation creeping up my spine.
However, with the way Oliver was looking at me, with a slightly menacing smirk on his face, I knew there was more. His thumb began caressing the back of my hand, making little circles and I gulped down my nerves.
“Because my dear little princess,” His eyes now trained on me and I met his gaze without hesitation this time, hoping I looked stronger than I felt. He wanted something else from me and depending on what he wanted. it would either put me in a very good position or an even worse one.
“I have lived this life for far too long and I am afraid if I stay in this… environment, my time will be up.” He paused and took a breath. The menacing look in his eyes faded to a more sorrowful one.
“I have lived as a rogue my whole life, serving one pretentious monster after another. Now that is not to say that I am not a monster myself. Like Jack, I have done unspeakable things, things that would give you nightmares, young princess. I am tired of this life and it is time for me to disappear and I think in this continent I can do that.”
