The Delta's Daughter Chapter 55

LAMIA

As I held the blades, one in each hand, the blood from my palms coating the handles, a rejuvenating and authoritative energy claimed my body.

I felt my wounds begin to heal and close at a ridiculous rate. The vibrating zing of power coursed through my veins. My eyes are sharp and my breathing steady. My anger unhinged.

I stood up from the ground, not lifting my head fully, rather peering through my lashes and disheveled hair. I felt the fire burn in my eyes and wondered if they mirrored the heat I felt from them.

There he stood, across the grounds, hiding behind his fighters and a line of bears. I saw the King in the forefront of the fight taking out as many as he could in a bid to get to Silas, his brother.

Not today, my King, I thought. Today he is mine and he will suffer.

The swords in my hands glinted from the morning sun, the inscriptions on the blades were glowing a cosmic hue of green and orange as if they had come alive. My fangs protruded, piercing my lip as I snarled, my sights set on the culprit who caused the death of my mate and pup. I let out a howl full of emotions, for the death of my Alpha, for our men, for our loss, for my child. The howl; turning into a menacing and haunting growl that reverberated across the compound, bouncing off the mountain slopes and ringing through the trees, a growl that had shifters pausing on both sides, a howl that reflected a battle cry.

‘This ends today’ Inanna spoke to me, coming full force to the front. I didn’t need to acknowledge her thoughts, nor reply. She could feel my darkness, just as I could feel hers. I was empty, void of any emotion now except for blind fury.

I charged forward, throwing myself into the thick of the battle. They will all die today.

“Kill the Dire Wolf!” I heard Silas cry out his order and watched as rogue bears and wolves alike began to advance on me.

I would meet them head on. And they would meet their end.

I was unstoppable, ripping enemies from our wolves and making quick work of them as I pushed through to those protecting Silas.

My blades sliced and diced through fur and flesh, killing one after another.

The bodies began piling up. One, Two, Five, I began to lose count. Each wolf mangled, each bear severed. One after another fell before my feet in a pool of thick red secretion and limbs, not one of them stood a chance.

Finally, I found myself standing a few meters from Silas. My hate for him was growing expediently; I loathed the idea of him living and breathing. I had never felt so much hostility as I did for this sack of skin. I would make sure he could never harm another living soul again. He would never make me feel weak again.

Drenched in blood from head to toe, my swords resting against each thigh, I lifted my hand and pointed the blade towards Silas. “You coward!” I roared “Stand and fight me Silas! Today you die for all your crimes!” I yelled with such command.

I dropped my swords to my side, the tips sticking into the ground. I wanted him, just me and him. I wanted to rip him limb from limb with my bare hands.

I didn’t need a weapon to kill him. He was weak and the only reason he held me for so long was because of the concoction of drugs he pumped through me and the silver spiked cuffs.

He had tortured me, defiled me, caused me to lose my child, caused my mate's death, how many others had he killed with his psychotic ways, how many women, how many children, how many packs had suffered by his hands. He was a leech, a parasite that the world would be better off without.

He snarled at me, his eyes an ugly orange hue, as he curled his lip in distaste.

“Fucking Dire Wolf, you could have been my queen, but you chose death!” He shouted “I should have fucking killed you when I had the chance!”

He leapt forward, shifting mid air into a brown ragged wolf, a large wolf, but not one that could compare to the size of mine. In an instant, I morphed into my beast, not my wolf, standing on my hind legs. My front feet were more like hands with long claws rather than paws. I stood tall, towering above the wolves and men around me. I watched the confusion flash in Silas’s wolfs eyes as I batted him away easily. He recovered quickly and lunged for me again. This time, my claws grabbed him by the neck and lifted him high above my head.

“W-what are y-you?” He stumbled over his words.

“Your judge, jury, and executioner.” I replied, stunned. I could vocalize my thoughts in this form. In normal wolf form, we relied upon mind linking, but in the form I was in, apparently I still had use of my human vocal chords.

I reached out with my other clawed hand and ripped his arm from his body, his blood curdling scream silencing the battle field as on lookers from both sides stared in shock. I could not decipher if they were shocked by the appearance of my form or the fact I was literally going to rip him limb from limb. Maybe both?

I only took a quick glance at the onlookers before I reached out and tore his other arm off, the blood spraying across my face and snout. His agonizing cries rang in my ears.

“Lamia! Enough!” I heard a familiar voice call out to me.

I looked over my shoulder to see my father and Kellen approaching me. It was my father who had spoken. I ignored him and turned back to Silas, whose neck I still held and his legs dangled beneath him. I threw him on the floor in the pool of his own blood next his dismembered arms. Pressing my large hind paw on his torso and chest, I reached for a leg, twisting and pulling until it had been separated like his arms.

“Lamia! Please!” I heard my father cry out again, along with the sounds of people throwing up.

I looked down at Silas again, he was coughing up blood. The fucker was still alive. I would not leave him with a breath of air.

I shifted back into my human form, my foot still securely on Silas. His eyes had faded and blood smeared his lips as he coughed again, spluttering, the red liquid oozing from his mouth and spilling from his torn ligaments. I tilted my head at him and looked at his torn and dismembered body. I wouldn’t be happy until I watched the life drain from his eyes though.

I leaned down close to him so he could hear me.

“You stupid sick fuck, you thought you could defeat me? Look at you now…” I sneered “All because you wanted to take a crown from a just King, all because you wanted power. Now you have nothing, you are nothing. Your time in this realm is over. Your biggest mistake was killing my unborn pup and mate. May the goddess deliver your twisted soul to the depths of hell and you and your wolf never be reborn!” With that, I reached for his head, taking his jaw in one hand and hair in the other, I ripped his head from his shoulders, the tearing flesh making a sickening sound as it separated.

Looking up and around, I found all aghast and wide, shocked eyes on me. The battle had ceased, come to a full stop as every shifter focused on me.

When I spoke, it wasn’t just my voice, but my wolves also. There was a commanding presence and authorative tone in my voice coupled with a ghostly echo. It was me, but it was all of me and something else.

I held Silas’ head high in the air. “Here me now!” I bellowed across the deadly silent mass of shifters.

I lifted my head and spoke to every shifter there. “Your rogue king is DEAD!” the venom dripped with my words “Kneel before me and show your loyalty and you may live to see tomorrow!”

I watched as shifters dropped to their knees baring their necks in submission. It wasn’t just the rogue shifters but also some of the Kings Warriors and fighters from other packs. Leaving me slightly confused.

“I, Alpha Lamia Langley, The royal Delta’s Daughter, here by claim this territory as MINE! As far as the eye can see, this land now belongs to me! Who dares to challenge me for the right to claim this land?” I shouted to every living body present, my eyes still on the King as he walked forward.

I lowered the severed head of the rogue king and dropped it next to his mutilated body.

Would the King challenge me? I hope not. I could not kill my king, my uncle, I did not want to. When he finally reached me, he stood next to me, his face showed pity and sadness, yet his eyes held an expression close to pride.

“I, King Alexander, King of the werewolves, stand by and support Alpha Lamia’s claim. This territory is outside of the wolf kingdom and is now under her rule!” He stated. “She has killed the rogue king and she will keep what she kills. This is the law, this is our way.” He finished.

I felt a huge breath of relief leave my lungs. He supported me; he did not want to challenge me. At that moment, I felt my legs become weak. The adrenalin that I had been running off of and the burst of raw energy my wolf supplied had depleted, and was leaving me feeling exhausted.

*Kellen, I need you. Take me out of here quickly* I linked the prince and almost immediately felt his strong arms wrap around me protectively and at just the right moment, when I felt my legs starting to give.

*I got you babe, I got you, always.* he replied.

*Help me walk out of here* I asked, I did not want to lose face and the pain in my chest from the loss of my mate and the snapping of the bond was coming back full force.

“Take all rogues as prisoners. Lock them up in the castle dungeons. Women, children and elders are to be taken into the largest room in the castle and will be processed.” I began speaking quickly before all my energy was zapped.

I looked around, spotting the person I needed; he was not far from me. “Hunji!” I beckoned him over to me.

“My Queen” he said while bowing to me.

“You are now my commander; those who are here under force may have the option of staying to build a better life. The rest stay locked up until their sentence is decided. I will leave you in charge to organize. Keep Tawny with you and a hand full of Golden Circle warriors.”

“Yes, my Queen, I know what needs to be done and will not fail you.”

I gave him a weak smile before I turned to Kellen's side, whose arm was still tight around my waist. I gave him a small nod before we began to walk away.

“Get me the fuck out of here, Kellen”, I repeated the same words I had said to Mike only a short time before.

I sobbed trying to hide my agony and tears that were threatening to fall. I remember stumbling right before I was swept into his arms and passed out. I was drained of energy, drained of emotions, drained of feelings, just completely and utterly drained.

OLIVER

When I shot the arrow hidden amongst the trees and low lying bushes, I was aiming for her, but at the last minute their bodies shifted and my silver arrow punctured straight through his back and pierced his heart.

His death was instantaneous.

I thought killing her mate would weaken her and it did, but only for a short time.

She rose to her feet and let out a howl that had me fighting with my wolf to not submit and fall to my knees. When she shifted into the biggest wolf I had ever seen and stood on her hind legs like a Lycan, I could hardly tare my eyes away.

She was not just a Dire Wolf, she was more, more than we knew. She easily defeated Silas and began tearing his arms off. Bile rose in my throat at the sickening scene and sounds as his muscles and skin were ripped, although he did not deserve any less.

What had we released? What did I help create? A monster, a powerful monster, is all I could think. She would come for us all.

She would come for us all.

“Come Beta, this war is lost. Silas will meet his end. He was just a pawn in our true king’s quest for the throne.” I looked at the owner of the deep voice, a rogue were-bear, named Jack. “Come, live to fight another day, there is no sense in us dying for a lost cause. There are more battles to prepare for. This is not over, it is just the beginning," he said.

I nodded. My revenge on the royal family would have to wait for another day. I turned my back as the Dire Wolf held my father's, the rogue king's head high in the air and claimed the territory of MacTire. I was trying not to shake with fear at the thought of what we had unleashed.

“She will come for us all.” I whispered, repeating my thoughts aloud to no one in particular. I took a last look back and saw her glowing green eyes, an inferno burned in her orbs, her naked body drenched in the blood of our men, making her look God like. That growing fear began ringing through me all the more, vibrating through my bones like a warning of what's to come.

“Maybe” Jack said. How he could not be afraid of what he just saw was beyond me.

“Do you not fear what she is?” I asked as we walked further into the tree line and further away from the battlefield.

“She is not the scariest thing out there. Just wait until you meet our real King.” He smirked at me and walked ahead.

Not ‘the scariest’ I found that hard to believe, this girl just took out at least 50 rogue shifters without even shifting, without batting an eyelash. I understood now why Silas and Kira had wanted her heavily sedated. If we hadn’t used up the entire drug I would have shot her with it again.

“Where are we heading?” I asked. Deciding I should keep my concerns to myself. I was finding it hard to believe there was something more powerful than her out there.

“South, we are needed there; you will be in charge of the rogue wolves we have gathered. If the King believes you are fit, he will make you the Alpha rogue.” Jack replied with an unbothered tone to his voice as he strode ahead.

My eyebrows shot up, Alpha rogue? I did not question him; instead I trudged behind him, keeping my thoughts to myself again. I figured that was best.

“Your all right for a wolf Ollie” Jack chuckled like a kid.

I hated the nickname ‘Ollie’ so I silently seethed. I could just walk away and go rogue on my own, but I didn’t want to become feral, plus to say I wasn’t curious about this ‘true king’ would be a lie. I was intrigued. So, for now, I will blindly follow. And if this leads to helping me get my revenge on the royal family and bringing them to their knees. All the better.

They executed my mother, who was innocent, her only crime being a rogue.

They should meet the same fate, it would only be fair.
