The Delta's Daughter Chapter 95
KELLEN
“What? What is it?” Lamia’s voice was barely audible under the blood that was rushing through my head, between my ears.
I looked up at the Bear King, his face a deep shade of red, his silver eyes swirling and angry. Jeez, I hope to the goddess he didn’t get the same message as me, but looking at his shaking body holding Lamia close to him, I knew he had.
Shit, this was not good. I moved towards Travis, ready to put myself between him and the hulking man who was going to tear him apart any minute now. I knew he wouldn’t hurt Lamia. Or at least I was hoping he wouldn’t.
As if in slow motion, he put Lamia on her feet, and then swung around, catching Travis by the throat. My feet moved fast, but not fast enough.
His roar shook the room, dust falling from the ceiling. He had Travis pinned against the wall and I tried to intervene, only to be thrown backwards when I touched Mathias’ shoulder.
I stumbled to get up, after hitting the wall with such force.
“Would somebody please tell me what the ever living shit is going on?” Lamia screamed, placing herself between her mate and Travis, trying to pry his hand from our friend. “Mathias! Let him go! What is wrong with you?” Her green eyes began to glow, showing her wolf.
The bear king dropped Travis and turned his attention to Lamia. Anger and pain flecked through his eyes, his power radiated from him and his hand clasped around Lamia’s neck tightly now.
“Is this what you fucking do? Cheat on me behind my back? You are nothing but a fucking whore!” He roared into her face.
I felt Conri rear up, ready to defend our queen, but before I could do anything, a crack rang out in the room. Lamia’s hand had met the king’s face, hitting him with such force his head snapped to the side. Her emerald green eyes, bright with her wolf, she pulled his hand from her neck and stood up straight.
“How dare you!” She hissed while shoving him backwards. Her hand lifted to punch Mathias, but he caught it mid air, making her even angrier.
I looked at Travis who didn’t dare move a muscle as the two powerful shifters squared off. Both sets of eyes were blazing and burning into one another. The door opened, revealing Mike, Tobias and Hunji. They stopped dead in their tracks as they took in the scene.
Neither Lamia nor Mathias were backing down from each other. It was Lamia who advanced on her mate now. “Cheat on you? You dare accuse me of cheating? If I had, you would have known about it.” She seethed at him. “You’re an idiot king! A fucking idiot!”
“Then tell me why I have pictures of you and him” he pointed at Travis, before thrusting his phone at her “fucking each other!”
I palmed my face. Yes, he got the pictures too. The same ones were sent to me. I looked at Travis, who held his hands up.
She took the phone and I watched her face morph from shock, to horror and then to disgust.
“They sent me the same ones” I dared tell her.
“Who sent them?” she asked harshly, throwing the phone over to Travis, who looked equally shocked and disgusted.
I had no idea her and Travis had been fucking. But if she had cheated on her mate, he would have known, would have felt it like Zane did.
“Those are old” Lamia stated, slumping down the wall and cradling her knees. “I don’t know when they were taken, but it was before I met you” she peered up at Mathias “before I came to find my father.” She sounded defeated.
“It seems like someone is playing games with us” I said.
Mathias seemed to calm down a little, but the aura of anger was still present in the air and his face was still red and hardened. Lamia stood up, placing herself in front of the Bear King. Her hands reached out to spread on his chest as she looked up at him.
“I would never do such a thing to hurt you, my king. These are old photos, and need I remind you that we all have a past and also remind you of the party you and Tobias had after we met? While I was locked in your cells, might I add.” Her voice was calm on the surface but you could hear a little snarkyness in her undertone when she spoke to him.
He wrapped his arms around her waist and brought her close, burying his nose in her hair. “I’m sorry, I saw red.” He whispered to her, barely audible.
“You ever call me a whore, put your hands on my friends, or me in anger again, and I swear to the moon goddess I will cut your fucking balls off King. Am I understood?” For how harsh her words were, she seemed pretty calm as she pulled the Bear Kings head to hers and kissed him gently. He reciprocated by deepening the kiss, now lost in their own world, as the five of us stood there, not knowing where to place our eyes.
I cleared my throat to get their attention. “Now we have that out of the way, does anyone want to take any guesses as to who is fucking with us? And why?”
“You guys figure it out, my king and I have some making up to do.” Lamia smiled against his mouth and his low growl made her body shudder, before he lifted her to his arms and swept her right out the door.
“Holy mother of gods, I thought I was a dead man” Travis breathed out once they had left the room, to go do the dirty, I assumed.
“What the hell happened?” Hunji asked from the side of the room.
“My thoughts exactly” Mike piped up. “That is one scary dude, what the heck did you do to piss him off Travis?”
I groaned at Mike, knowing he was going to be pissed when he found out Lamia and Travis had fucked.
“He slept with our queen, that’s what he did.” Hunji laughed “I told you it was going to bite you in the ass at some point.”
“Fuck off.” Travis spat, giving Hunji a pointed glare. “It was before she met him. Besides, how the hell did someone get those images? It’s not like we were out in the open. Fuck! It’s not like anyone really knew.”
I took a glance around the men standing in Lamia’s office; Mike was red in the face, obviously angry and jealous at Travis. Hunji stood there with a slight smirk on his face, otherwise stoic as ever, and Tobias stood there wide-eyed with amusement.
Fuck. I couldn’t take this anymore. I walked over to the mini bar in the corner of the room and grabbed two bottles, not even looking at the labels and five glasses. I poured out five drinks and handed one to each of the men in the room, then picked up my own.
“To our fucked up lives.” I said, holding my glass up, then drinking down the amber liquid in one go, the rest of the guys following my lead, including Hunji, which surprised me and earned him a raised eyebrow from me, Mike and Travis.
“What? Just because I don’t, doesn’t mean I can’t or won’t” he smirked. “You kids are going to be the death of me, I feel like a babysitter.”
“No shit,” Tobias said, reaching for the bottle and began pouring another round.
I went and sat in Lamia’s chair, leaning back. I pressed play on the video that was on her screen and scrunched my nose as I watched a man turn into one of those Crawler things. I couldn’t help but grumble at how fucked up things were at the minute and sighed deeply when the thought that Lamia was, yet again, in the middle of this new threat.
“Somebody please make sense of all this shit for me.” I said to no one in particular and ran a hand through my hair in frustration.
“Travis, where is Rhett?”
“He is in Avon Wilts, overseeing the uniforms Lamia is having manufactured. Why, what’s up?” He replied with a question.
“Good, if he is out there, then have him go check out the locations of these co-ordinates, Lamia was sent over email.” I told him, it was a start. If Rhett could figure out what these places were, we might have a clue as to where to start.
“What co-ordinates? What email?” That was Tobias. I turned the laptop around and pressed play again, the man’s screams filling the room once more. “Gods be damned! That’s sick as shit.”
“Yah it is, and at the bottom there were 5 sets of co-ordinates that pinpointed these places on the map.” I switched screens and showed them all.
“I will have Rhett investigate but I will tell him to observe and report only,” Travis said and looked at Hunji for affirmation, who just nodded his head back at Travis.
“The other thing we need to figure out, is what it means to be a Knight of the Queen. I know we have rolls to play, but even that is unclear right now.” I sighed.
It seemed like once we had one thing figured out, a new problem would arise and we were no closer to finding Riocht, or figuring out what the enemy had up his sleeve.
I had never heard of this Orion guy. Apparently, he is Mathias’ real father, but I did know if Oliver was involved it would not be good.

Sometime later in the evening, after we had all eaten dinner and Lamia and Mathias had still yet to be seen after everything went down in her office, we were sitting in one of the parlors when Xander came walking in, a scowl on his face.
“Brother, where have you been? You missed all the fun!” Tobias joked with a twinkle in his eye. He was sitting on one of the cream sofas, his arms spread across the back and feet kicked up on the coffee table, looking like he didn’t have a care in the world.
Xander glanced at him with daggers, his eyes dark and face looking defeated. “I was trying to woo my mate.” He snapped.
I didn’t know Xander very well, but he didn’t seem like the kind of person who got angry often, unlike his brother, Mathias, who always seemed like he had a chip on his shoulder, unless he was around Lamia. Earlier this afternoon, being the exception. Xander was closer to our age, only being a few, maybe 3 years older than us. Whereas the king and Tobias were in their late 20’s, twenty-eight I think, and Hunji was 32 now.
“Who is your mate?” Travis sat up curiously.
“Josiah told me her name is Ria. I went to speak to her but she ran away, like literally turned and ran from me!” His exasperated voice was full of hurt and his light golden brown eyes turned darker. He slumped onto the couch next to Tobias and huffed out.
Travis began laughing and slapped his knee. “Ria? Ria?” He repeated, still laughing. “She won’t feel the mate bond, and she is not a fan of shifters, at least not like that.”
“And why the fuck not?” Xander asked, clearly upset and rightly so.
“Because she is a Hunter, not quite human but not a shifter either. Rhett is going to kill you.” Travis laughed again, then his smile dropped and he looked Xander dead in the eyes. “Does Lamia know?” all joking gone, now he was serious.
“Can we even consider Rhett a Hunter after what happened?” Hunji changed the subject.
“What happened to Rhett to make you say that Hunji?” That was Mike, who had been very quiet since the incident earlier and the revelation that Travis and Lamia had been knocking boots.
“The night we all got our marks, Josiah was with Rhett, said Rhett grew fangs and claws, but he has no wolf.” I snapped my head up to look at Hunji, my eyes darting from him to Travis.
“Whaaaat, no? Seriously?” Mike's words held the same surprise and confusion as I felt. That was unheard of. Yet, in the past three years there have been a lot of things happening that were unheard of, so I really shouldn’t be surprised.
I wondered if life would ever be simple again, when we would be able to start enjoying the simple things life had to offer. Not all this guessing, ancient prophecies, and fighting enemies. One year, that’s all I ask for, one year of peace and happiness.
I had tuned out the bantering of the guys and brought my wandering mind back to the men in the room. Taking in each one of them, we all had a role to play in the god’s game. I just wish I knew what that role was.
I had always been able to take things in my stride, but lately I have been feeling the pressure build up more and more. Agitating my wolf and making him cranky. I wondered if it had anything to do with the mark I received that night and then I started to remember what I had done to Vanessa.
Thankfully, the she-wolf was healing, after my wolf almost killed her, but she never wanted to see me again. I couldn’t blame her, I tore her almost apart, and I still had no idea why. That night, even Hunji’s wolf went crazy and almost killed a little girl and Travis.
I felt a pinch in my chest at the thought and went to stand up when suddenly the pinch began to burn, turning into a stabbing pain. I felt a bond snap and staggered, the loss brought me tumbling to my knees.
“Mother!” I cried out and grasped for Mike, my eyes wide with shock. My mother had just died; I felt the snap of the bond. No, this couldn’t be right, No!
I began feeling pack links break, one after another sending stabbing pains through my head and behind my eyes.
It dawned on me, the New Moon pack was under attack. Conri, my wolf began to howl mournfully, his agonizing howls contributing to the pain of the loss I was feeling.
“Argghh, Kellen! What’s, what…” I heard Mike’s anguished words as I tried to look at him, all I felt was heartbreak and a burning sensation in my stomach. This was not a normal bond snapping.
My mother has died. She was gone. And I could feel my father, the kings, pain.
