The Delta's Daughter Chapter 147

7 min 1 views

I cast my mind back to that day, replaying the scene at Riocht over and over again in my head, but could remember nothing out of the ordinary, or at least nothing that would have caused the chip in Finnegan to deactivate.

I closed my eyes, slowing down the scene, taking even breaths, and asking Inanna for help to recall every detail. I watched as I was stabbed with a silver knife, Shayna blowing silver dust in my face, Finn killing the man who stabbed me, then Mike killing Shayna, then throwing his sword at Finn.

I screamed 'no!', when he leaned over Finn, ready to drive his sword into Finn’s neck, Mike looked at me, his eyes almost black with white symbols in them. I replayed it again, Inanna helping me slow down the memory.

‘There’ Inanna said and showed a piece of the memory again.

Right as Mike pulled his sword from Finn, a small current traveled from his hand to the blade and as the tip left Finn, an arc of blue light sparked from the blade into Finn. Like the little jolts of lightning, I share with Mathias.

I gasped out loud at the realization, Opening my eyes wide with disbelief. And looking at my mate “I-I think I know h-how, where the volt of electricity came from!” I stammered. Mathias wound his arms around me and led me to the couch, my breathing labored as I tried to process what this could actually mean, and how it was possible for Mike to produce that much electricity from his body in such a small spark.

“That’s not all,” Xander addressed us and handed King a piece of paper with a printed photo, “Under closer examination, we found it had been stamped with this symbol. I don’t know what it has to do with Orion.”

The printed photo held the image of a blown-up stamp mark. A triangle with the initials SRP in the middle and the tiniest head of a wolf etched under it.

Suddenly my heart began to flutter, and my wolf began pacing in my head giddily. From out of nowhere a feeling of arousal and unrequited love passed through me, the emotion so strong I began to pant and squirm, tingles erupting all over my body and then I smelt him, The familiar scent of spice and pine invaded my senses.

Kellen!

I got up and tried to establish a link with him. Nothing. But his scent was strong and I began to walk towards the door ready to search him out.

“Little Wolf are you okay” Strong hands wound around me and I looked up into his beautiful Silver eyes, getting lost just for a moment when I noticed the feelings had subsided, and Kellen’s scent had vanished just as quickly as it had manifested.

“I-I,” I rubbed my temples, “I thought I smelt Kellen, I thought I could feel him.” I was confused, had I just made it up “I was going to go look for him” I confessed, not even sure why I thought he would be here.

“Maybe you need to rest, are the cubs okay” His worried gaze roamed my face, down my body, and back up again meeting my eyes with concern.

“Pups,” I countered again and giggled at him, It was a habit to correct him on this, an inside joke.

“I’m okay, it was just really strange, it felt… It felt like I had sensed a mate. His scent was so strong and this feeling of love and lust… was, they weren’t my feelings, they were his.” I hesitated to tell him, not knowing how he would react but I wanted to be honest with him. “It was consuming me, my wolf acting strange.”

I saw his jaw muscles flex, and his lips press together harshly, I could feel his annoyance through the bond and I rubbed his arm hoping to soothe him. The last thing I needed was for Arcas and him to become jealous. That wouldn’t end well for anyone.

I explained to the four men in the room what I remembered, and how Inanna was able to help slow down the memory, each of their faces mirrored the confusion and bewilderment I felt.

“What else was Finnegan able to give us” Abner asked his pale blue eyes looking at me for an answer.

“Well he told us how they were able to move the Crawlers around undetected and how they were controlled, he also told us how their army came from the other continent and the ports they would use to traffic people in and out of our lands,” I told them.

I pursed my lips, “He also told us his sister, Morgan, had been hidden away on the other continent too, he said her last known location was in Andora, but he couldn’t say where exactly. Orion kept her hidden since she was a child, using her powers to his own advantage.”

“And what powers might they be” Narrowing his eyes, Abner pressed his question with much hesitance. I could tell he wasn’t sure if he wanted to know or not.

“Sight,” Mathias provided “He said she has the gift of sight and is not a shifter. We made no promises that we would find her, but…”

“But… Once we find Kellen, I see no reason to not send a team out there to find her. She is after all your sister too.” I directed the last part towards my mate, who gave a grunt and a shrug. Not caring much for his other half-brother and sister.

As far as Mathias was concerned, they meant nothing to him. He didn’t have a relationship with them like he had with Xander. They were Orion’s children and he loathed the thought of his real father and cared nothing for anything that had to do with him, including the fact that he had another brother and younger sister.

“I think we can all agree that Orion and his woman Shayna were a hell of a lot more sinister than we originally thought,” Abner said.

“Definitely, and I think the information of these chips should be kept secret, technology like this in the wrong hands… is dangerous.” I agreed with Damon, and I could see Mathias did also.

It was unanimously agreed upon that Damon and Xander would write up a report of their finds on the inhibitor chip, but those finds would only be shared with our most trusted and our inner circle.

My thoughts went to Tawny, I would need to tell her, but right now she wasn’t sure who she trusted, not even her own mate. I sighed as I thought of what she was going through right now. I had tried to ask her to come back to MacTire or even to New Moon, but she had turned down my offer. Promising she would see me before the babies’ were due to be born.

I didn’t like her out in Cambiador on her own, but I realized this was her path to walk and she was no longer the weak little kitty I had first met. She was a fierce leader, strong, and was putting the people of the were-cat kingdom first. I couldn’t be any prouder of her.

I was thankful Mason had decided to stay with her; he was loyal and would protect her, and watch out for her. I knew he would make sure no one took her for granted, but I also knew it would be a cold day in the pits of hell before Tawny let anyone bully her again.

That thought brought a small smile to my face. However, the confusing feelings I felt earlier were still playing on my mind, I was sure they came from Kellen but how could I feel him when I couldn’t even mind-link him, or establish a connection with our wolves.

And the emotions I felt were so strong; as I said to Mathias; it was as if I had discovered a mate. Was that what happened to Kellen Had he found his mate, or was I just that emotional from the pregnancy that I was manifesting these things

‘He is getting stronger, soon.’ Inanna whispered into my mind before she went silent.

Where are you, Kellen I said silently, I promise we will find you.
