The Delta's Daughter Chapter 372
LYRIC
The next morning, I woke up earlier than usual. I think I was still on a high from what transpired between Beta Mike and I last night.
I still couldn't believe how receptive I was to him and his touch. This time, I wasn't scared or apprehensive about what he would expect.
I never knew being touched in that way could be so… So thrilling. And tiring. I had no idea having an orgasm as hard as I came could zap the energy right out of you. It was so much different than when I explored myself. So much so, that I wouldn't be opposed to it happening again.
This thought and the actions of the beta from last night had me wearing a rare smile. A goofy one at that.
I watched myself, and examined myself, as I brushed my long hair in the mirror after getting out of the shower. The goofy smile was still on my face. I peered closer trying to remember the last time I had worn a smile as genuine as the one on my face. Except for when it came to Zane, I really couldn't remember.
That was a sad thought.
But still, my lips were lifted and the high of last night was still on my mind. I didn't dare let myself think too much about it. If I did then I would remember just how he felt touching me. Then I would be all flustered and my tummy would start annoyingly fluttering and my core pulsing, wanting his hands back on me again.
"Zane! What in the wide realm are you doing?" I looked in horror at my son's room, mouth gaping open like a fish and eyes blown wide. The smile dropped from my face instantly.
I had come to get him ready for daycare. Only to open the door and find the room a total disaster. And when I say disaster, sheets were torn to shreds, small claw marks down the wall, and toys chewed up and spit out. Clothes were strewn from one end of the room to the other.
I see tears fill Zane's eyes. It breaks my heart to see him this sad, but it also breaks my heart to see a beautiful room destroyed in this manner. Things that didn't even belong to us. Everything was provided by the King and Queen.
"I'm sorry momma." He swipes at a tear. "I couldn't stop him." My shoulders drop and my heart aches to see him like this, so forlorn.
I walk over to him and crouch down in front of my pup. He has a towel wrapped around him, which is also torn. "What happened Zane? Because I know this isn't like you." I ask carefully trying to let him know I'm not really mad. Not when I can clearly see this was his wolf, and not him.
"Dacia said we could play, and he wanted to come out and play." His little lip trembled, and his icy eyes stared at me with remorse.
"Why would Dacia do this?" I still can't believe his wolf would do this. Then again, we were in unchartered territory when it came to Zane and his wolf. He's three, almost four. Not one shifter I know, or have heard of, including werebears, has ever gotten their spirit animal as young as him.
"Because he wanted to go for a run last night. I told him no, Mommy. I did!" He began to sob. "But he wanted out and got out and he did this."
I believed him. Of course.
I inhaled deeply and let it out just as slowly. "Well, we can figure this out later. Let's get you ready for daycare." I told him. But when I wander over to his drawers, everything is torn. I go to his closet and even his little shoes have teeth marks on them.
Five minutes later I determined that Zane does not have one stitch of clothing that hasn't been ripped in one fashion or another. He had absolutely nothing to wear. Now I understand why he had a towel wrapped around him.
A sharp gasp sounds from behind me, and I turn to see Lizzy in the doorway with the same look on her face as I had when first glancing upon the mountain of a mess.
I shake my head, "It was his wolf."
"I can see that but why?"
"He wanted to go out and run. I told him no." Zane pipes up to inform Lizzy of the reason why. But I don't think he can explain his wolf's reason for the destructive damage. Just that he did it.
"Okay sweetheart," I resolve to the fact that he will not be going to daycare today and I will not be going down for training.
The problem was, I had no money. Everything I had was still back at our place. That's when I remembered I had given Lizzy the envelope of money. "Lizzy do you still have..."
"Say no more Lyri, let me go get the envelope." She interrupts me and hastily walks out of Zane's room.
I tell her "Thank you," once she has come back. All the cash is still in there. It was plenty, but I had left a lot of things back at our home in the boroughs. "I'll be back shortly. It shouldn't take me too long to find a store and be back. Until then…" I take a look at the mess of the room, "…Just feed him and I will clean all this up when I come back." I sigh shaking my head.
"I'm sorry Mommy."
"It's okay baby these things happen. I'm not mad at you. I am pretty mad at Dacia though. I will be having words with him and this mess he made." I ruffle his mass of dark hair and then plant a kiss on his cheek. "Be good for Lizzy while I'm gone, Ya?"
Zane nods and I pat Lizzy's shoulder on the way out the room.
I headed across the hall to the Beta suite where I know the former Beta Michael Pike and Olivia still live. Ready to knock on the door and ask where the closest place to buy clothes is and ask who I should report the damage to the room to. And how much it was going to cost me for all the repairs?
Just as I was about to knock on the door to their suite, the door opened.
"Mike!" I was taken by surprise when my mate answered the door looking fine as shit in a pair of black slacks and a navy-blue button-up shirt.
My eyes raked over him, mouth-watering as they took in the stubbled jawline, short messy hair, and those damn beautiful hazel eyes.
When his face lit up giving me a dazzling smile, I swear my knees shook a little. I only saw him last night, but I swear he had gotten more handsome. Maybe it was just the smile. I hadn't really seen him smile either. It was a beautiful sight and made me want to see him smile like this all time.
I hoped it was because of me.
"Lyric!" Mike's brows rose, mirroring my surprise. "You missed me already little thief?" He added using that annoying nickname, leaning against the door as his own eyes roamed over me appreciably.
I stumbled over my words, looking down at the leggings and plain grey t-shirt I was wearing. I was planning on going to training but ended up missing it because of Zane's wolf. "Um - well," I gulped.
Why was it so hard to tear my eyes from him?
"There was an incident with Zane this morning," Mike's smile dropped, and a frown replaced his charismatic smile.
"Is he okay?" I could hear the concern in his voice and see it in his eyes.
"He's fine," I said raising my hands, then quieter I said, "He shifted at some point last night. His wolf tore the room up."
Mike rubs a hand over his face, now looking thoughtful, "What happened? Why?"
I shake my head, my long hair spilling over my shoulder, "Not sure yet. But I was coming to ask your mom where I could go buy clothes for him. Everything was ruined." I sigh, "And I do mean the whole room." It was embarrassing to tell him we ruined the accommodations they had given us. I didn't want him to think my son was unruly. This really was an oddity for Zane, a first for both of us.
"He told me Dacia wanted to be let out and forced the shift," I told him honestly. I didn't want to hide anything, especially as they were keeping him safe here. And especially as they know where, or I should say who, little Zane really is and came from.
"Hmm" Mike looks thoughtful and it's a moment before he speaks, his eyes glaze over and when he's back he says, "Give me two hours and I will take you and Zane into town for more necessities. Meet me downstairs in the main foyer."
"O-okay. You don't have to." I'm puzzled because I know how much work he has to do, and we are leaving the day after tomorrow to go to the boroughs and to see Miko.
It's at that moment Note stirs in my mind, tail wagging and tongue hanging out at the prospect of spending more time with her mate.
"No problem," He replies, lifting his hand and rubbing my arm. The sparks are immediate, and I feel my face flush with heat from his contact, only to recall how much I enjoyed his hands on me, in me, last night. "I would like to spend time with you both. Zane is a good kid. Cute too. Plus, I think I know how to help him with his little wolf problem." He winks.
Moons, this male is charming when he isn't all serious. I just want to melt into a puddle right now.
Deciding to accept his help, I agree to meet him in the foyer in a little while. "I still need…"
"I will have my mom scrounge something up for Zane and have her drop it by."
"Thank you," I tell him sincerely. Gosh, what a difference to when we first met. Now that I'm not behind bars.

MIKE
The first order of business this morning was a team meeting and a video call with Hunji and Morgan. We were trying to stay updated and keep everyone in the loop as much as possible. Aside from the day to day running of the New Moon kingdom, this business with Senko and now Oliver was a top priority.
Oliver had willingly given Lamia the location where he had hidden Shayna's diaries and the translation to the epitaph. Lyric had already disclosed what was on the tablet before, however, Lamia wanted to see the translation Oliver had for herself.
The location happened to be close to where Lyric and I would be going. Only a few hours from where she lived.
The only problem was they were secured in a bank, located in a high security building, which required an encryption key and Oliver's fingerprint. It seemed that Mathias was right, we would need a thief and I knew just the girl for the job.
It was a strange coincidence that it happened to be Lyric who acquired the piece of history for Oliver. Everything was interconnected. As was that Senko had another child, a girl, a half-sister to Kolby Crimson. We were unsure if she was a Grimalkin like Crimson, or not. Oliver was unable to provide that information or who she really was, stating he only thought her name was something along the lines of Petrina.
We had no idea if this other child of Senko's was working with him or if she was in the wind. Because we knew so little about her, it was decided that she would not be a focus of our investigation as to where Senko was hiding. And that our resources could be better used in other areas.
"Morgan, were you able to get a read on Oliver, or have you had any visions that could be useful?" Kellen asks as the meeting draws to a close.
"No," she shakes her head and looks at her mate, Hunji. "I haven't had any visions for a while." I banked that piece of information away for later. A seer's ability shouldn't just dry up without any reason or cause.
"However, we have been able to determine that Oliver is telling the truth. We now know that Silas and my father had known Senko for much longer than originally thought. And we also know that Shayna had birthed a child with Senko." Morgan looks at Tala through the monitor, offering her a sympathetic smile.
This was news to Tala. She had no idea her older sister had a child, that she herself was an aunt. She was trying to hide her emotions. Remaining professional. The glassy look that came over her eyes gave her away. One sister had a child she knew nothing about with Senko. The other was pregnant and still unconscious due to whatever shit Senko had done to her.
"We are beginning to understand why Orion hid Morgan away for so long. Also, Oliver eluded that the letters and diaries he stole and kept hidden contained information that Shayna related to Farid. Apparently, Shayna asked Oliver to send the letters. Instead, he read them and hid them. They never made it into Farid's hands. Oliver said, and I quote 'I hid them for the greater good. I am the least of your problems right now '." Hunji's voice was strained and his eyes dark as he spoke of Oliver.
I will contact my brother, maybe he knows something that he didn't think was relevant before." Hunji declares.
Rostam, Hunji's older brother had been crowned King of Asiarian. This was after Hunji declined the throne and stepped down so he could remain by Lamia's side. Farid and his other brother had plotted to kill Hunji when he was younger, in turn, Hunji ended up killing Farid when he was on his quest to find Morgan and she was taken by Farid.
"There is one thing I told Queen Lamia," Morgan interrupts, "It's not so much a vision but a feeling." I waited to hear what Morgan had to say as she was smart, had total recall of anything she read, and seemed to be a very powerful witch who hadn't even scratched the surface of what she could potentially do.
Morgan carries on, voicing her thoughts, "An Alchemist is someone who can manipulate an element. Shayna could manipulate metals. Senko can manipulate blood. I can manipulate the earth, like plants, flowers, trees, etc. Because of my lineage, I am considered a true witch of old magic. I also have other gifts that you know about. I can communicate with the dead as well as raise them. I think there is more to Senko than just blood magic. I can feel the presence of dark magic, not like the presence of magic when I was in Mint, but something stronger, darker. Oliver believes he should be dead. Watched him die with his own eyes. The question is if he managed to live then how? And if he did indeed come back from the dead, then I feel like he came back as something else. Something more. And going off what you described, he has increased powers. This notion or thought is very scary. But I don't want to speculate until we have more facts."
"What Morgan is trying to say, is that we should be very careful and right now Lamia has a single goal in mind to track him down and take him out," Hunji tells us, his golden eyes looking thoughtful as he speaks.
"Maybe Finn has more information, but he seems to think Oliver holds all the answers. However, whoever this shadow witch is, whatever he is, it has Oliver rattled." Morgan states glancing at Tala again.
The meeting ran longer than I anticipated as we came around to talking about Travis and what he had disclosed to Lamia. I could help but think that his second voice, the parasite as he called it, was somehow in relation to what was happening to me. Lamia had saved both our lives. Brought us both back from the brink of death, or actual death.
I sent Lyric a quick mind link to let her know I was running late and when I finally made it down to the foyer, I stilled and held my breath as she stood there with little Zane's hand in hers.
Her hair was loose, flowing down her back past her perfectly curved ass. She wore a pair of tight jeans and a purple sweater, two coats thrown over her arm as she waited for me.
Lyric looked up catching my eye and a blush crept across her cheeks. Her thick lips twisted up into a smile. That smile had me groaning as my pants became a little tighter at the thought of…
"Beta!" Zane called out, breaking free from his mother's hand and rushing toward me.
The kid's smile melted my heart.
Unlike his mothers who gave a completely different reaction. I would need another cold shower if she kept looking at me with those big doe brown eyes like she was ready to eat me up.
"Hey, buddy!" I smile pushing dirty thoughts to the back of my mind as I scoop up the boy and carry him back to Lyric. "You ready to hit the town?"
"Yes! Mommy said you are going to show us around. Although I don't think I deserve a treat because Dacia was a bad wolf." His little lips pout and I chuckle.
"Hey, my wolf can be very naughty sometimes," I reply looking directly at Lyric hoping she gets the subtle innuendo. Besides, later I'm going to see if can help Dacia expel some of that wolfy energy."
"Really?" He asks wide-eyed now.
"Yep." I look to Lyric, "Ready to go beautiful?"
Again, she blushes but nods, and I lead the way out to the car.
