The Delta's Daughter Chapter 141

4 min 1 views

I don’t know what she said to him after that, because I ran from the palace, tears streaming down my eyes, not knowing what I did to make him hate me so much.

I was so wrapped up in my thoughts, that I wasn’t paying attention to my surroundings. I opened the door to my room to find Jasper in my bed, his face in between Eloise’s legs. “Oh, my goddess!” I cried out, clamping a hand over my mouth, not being able to look away, then realizing I was staring and clamped a hand over my eyes, backing out slowly and closing the door.

Why the heck were they in my room That is so gross! *You better change my fucking sheets* I said pissed when I established a link with El and Jasper, cutting it off before either could reply.

I was a stranger in my own home. At least that’s what it felt like.

I found myself standing on the terrace that overlooked the arena, leaning over and resting my head in my hands, elbows braced on the stone ledge. It was game day, pack members and visitors were mulling around down below. On game days, we allowed spectators to come and walk around, the arena hosted various stalls and carnival games. They could even walk around the slave barracks and see the Gladiators in their element, however only people with a certain size bank account were able to view the female slaves.

It was like taking the family to the horse tracks, you could get a first look at who you wanted to bet on, or with the women, a first look at who you wanted to pay for.

How I wish I could escape this place.

‘And where would we go’ Mora, my wolf's voice echoed in my head.

‘Somewhere, with lots of water like the ocean. Or maybe somewhere with lots of green trees’ I sighed, thinking how I had never seen the sea, or how my wolf had never felt the soft black dirt under her paws, like in the green and enchanted forests we read about in books.

My wolf hummed in my mind, liking that idea.

I had never been allowed to leave the compound of the palace, never been outside the wall that surrounded the grounds. I didn’t have a phone like other wolves I have seen using them and I had never seen a movie. I was home-schooled and led a pretty sheltered life.

I wasn’t even meant to train like the other wolves my age, but Archie, my father'S Delta, had trained me and taught me a lot in secret. That was until my father found out and had his head removed in front of the pack. He said “This is what happens when you disobey your Alpha. Let this example be a lesson.” And then he stuck his head on a spike and left him there for three days until his pets were let out to eat him.

I shudder at the memory. That was only three years ago, another reason for me to detest coming to the arena or watching the Gladiator matches. Death was a form of entertainment in our Kingdom.

It was just a reminder of what my father would, could, and has taken from me. Now he had just offered me up to Jack and his wolf Oliver. I frowned when I thought of Jack’s words, “We don’t have to deflower her to have our fun.” I wasn’t oblivious to what sex was, just because I had never done it, but I had no idea what he meant and shuddered at the possibilities of what he could have meant.

I took in a deep breath, finding my resolve to go back in and begin to dress for the opening of the games.

A light breeze picked up and I closed my eyes, relishing the feel of it across my cheeks. The scent of spice and another smell that I thought could be what I imagined as some kind of tree, floated with the tail end of the slight breeze, it was the most alluring scent I had ever smelt. Causing a sensation, like the flutter of butterflies into a flurry in my stomach.

All too quickly the scent evaporated, leaving the dry and dusty scent of the barren land that surrounded us in its absence.

My wolf perked up, pushing to the forefront of my mind, trying to pick up that scent again, I could feel her excitement at the unusual smells, and I smiled. ‘You like that too huh’

She mentally wagged her tail. I wished a simple scent could make me as happy as she seemed when she caught a whiff of it. I had to admit it was pretty tantalizing as far as fragrances go.
