The Delta's Daughter Chapter 376
MIKE
I woke up to Lyrics small body sprawled across me. I hadn't even opened my eyes and could feel the enigma of sparks dancing between our skin. I cracked an eye open, her hair fanned across my shoulder, legs and arms draped over me. My arms were wound around her middle holding her in place.
I had never felt such comfort as I did laying here, with her in my arms. She shifts in her sleep slightly, her leg nudging my hard length. The friction makes my cock jolt and I groan at the thought of what it might feel like sinking into the warmth of her tight pussy.
I didn't want to move; I didn't want to let go of her, but I couldn't lay here with her leg brushing against my cock or I was going to crumble, and Duke was going to take over and take what was his.
"Lyric," I whisper. My voice was low and gravelly, still full of sleep. My hand wanders over her back, stroking her. "Lyric," I whisper again.
She stirs but only to tighten the grip her legs and arms already have on me. She buries her face against my chest deeper, her lips sliding across my pecs.
My cock strains impossibly hard and I groan in frustration.
It would take nothing for me to flip her over and have her on her back. She would be at my mercy, and I would bury myself inside her. Fuck her and make her scream and come until she couldn't take it anymore.
Goddess, I wanted to do that so badly. I squeeze my eyes shut willing my morning wood to go down. It didn't work. Instead, the image of her naked, squirming beneath me calling out my name as I made her come, came alive behind my lids.
"Fuck." I curse and try to lift her off me. But she was like a little monkey clinging on to me. "Lyric, sweetheart," I say gently nudging her.
"Yes, Beta." She mumbles with a moan in her sleep and that does me. I jerk upright, forcefully pushing her off me.
I stomp into the bathroom and slam the door, shucking my boxers and switching the shower on, climbing in beneath the freezing water.
"Shit," I grind out, taking my cock in my hand and squeezing it before giving myself a few strokes. Soon enough my hand is frantically jerking over my cock, chasing the release I so desperately need.
Duke pushes visions of Lyric into my mind of me fucking her and it's all I need to reach my peak and spill my seed. I come on a groan whispering her name as I shoot my load down the shower drain. I brace my hands against the wall and let the shrill water pour down me.
Fuck this was getting bad. I didn't know how much long I could hold out for. It sounds bad when I think about it, but in all honesty, I was highly sexual and so was my wolf. I hadn't denied my primal urge for sex for this long since I was what… fifteen?
I wasn't going to push Lyric and I sure as fuck wasn't going to cheat on her, but seriously, it was killing me. Moons, even her lips wrapped around my shaft would be something.
"Fuck!" I say out loud as I become hard again with the thought of my cock in Lyric's mouth.
I end up spending another fifteen minutes under the cold spray until I'm confident I can control the urges racking through my body. When I finally emerge, only wearing a towel, Lyric has woken and is sitting up in bed watching me as I grab my bag I left by the door.
"Everything okay?" She asks. I feel her eyes on me. I ignore her walking back into the bathroom to dress.
If I look at her, speak to her, I know my resolve will snap and I can't do that to her.
Dressed and feeling calmer I came out of the bathroom. "Get ready we need to case the joint before we go in," I say regarding the diaries and transcript of Oliver's we were to retrieve.
I leave the room to go address the warriors.

LYRIC
Mike was acting strange this morning. He practically ignored me. Wouldn't even look me in the eye. I wondered what I had done wrong, or what I had done to piss him off. I couldn't think of anything, but that didn't mean I hadn't done something I wasn't aware of doing.
He snapped at me to get ready so we could case the building I was meant to break into tonight.
I walked into my office flipping on the computer and waited for it to boot up.
A couple of seconds later the screen lit up and I typed in a passcode, opening up the system and connecting it to the main frame.
I quickly typed in the building address and searched the stored records that were imbedded in the satellites database. Easily pulling up the schematics of the building. Providing there had been no alterations in the past two and a half centuries, it looked like it would be an easy in and out job.
I memorized the layout of the building, the exits and duct blueprints. You know just in case I needed to escape through the ventilation system. It wouldn't be the first time.
I packed a go bag, opening a false wall that contained an array of weapons like miniature cross bows, knives, throwing stars and some lightweight short swords. A few smoke bombs and grabbed some more coms. Even though I could mind link with them all now, I still thought they were handy to have. You never knew when you would need them. Placing a few of the items in my rucksack.
Next, I pulled open a drawer and grabbed my spare decoder and signal jammer. The same items I used to break into the palace vault.
This job should be easy peasy compared to the palace heist.
"Beta Mike asked me to check on you, to make sure you were ready." I turned to the girl who lingered at the door frame. "Ooh wee, this is some set up!" She whistles looking around.
I smile, "Come on in," I gesture with my hand for her to enter.
I reopen the false wall and show her what have, She picks up one of the mini cross bows. "It's super light," she smiles with interest.
"Ava, is it?" She nods confirming her name as she holds the mini cross bow and with the other hand her fingers graze over the knives. She was a warrior, so she was familiar with all these weapons, until she came to a small metal canister.
"What's this?" She frowns picking one up.
"Careful," I warn and pluck it from her fingers. "This contains a highly dangerous gas to shifters," I turn it to show her the tiny switch. "You press here for three seconds then throw at the enemy. It will release a mixture of wolfsbane, nightshade and Lilly of the valley. It's designed to attack not only your spirit animal but also the human side of a shifter's body, it will render you motionless while the poison attacks your muscles and slowly kills you, by spreading to the heart and giving you a massive cardiac arrest."
"Shit, that's brutal." She says stepping back.
"If you fail to throw it in three seconds you can deactivate it by pressing down on the switch for another three seconds.
I end up putting two in my bag, just because It couldn't hurt.
"I've never heard of a gas bomb like that before." Her brows pinch together with worry.
"It's my own design," I tell her honestly. "The smoke bombs gave me the idea. Way back when, during the Lycan wars they used something similar to these. They were banned when the humans were attacked with shifter technology." I had read this in an antique article written for a paper that no longer existed.
It was amazing what I could dig up from the satellite bank I tapped into. It was the main source of my success in finding rare and lost objects.
"How do you afford all this stuff, living in a place like this?" Ava asks me.
Most people would be offended, I wasn't. "I'm sure you know who I am by now?" I scoff, rolling my eyes that land on my case of watches.
"The thief who stole the Queen's crown." I wince with how casually she says it but her shrug tells me she doesn't care.
Opening the case, I have a choice of several watches. I pick out the tungsten. It has more accessories that could be useful for tonight.
I slip the watch over my slender wrist, tucking it under the band of my black jacket. "That's how I afford all this. I obtained rare and special items for very wealthy people. Some Alphas, mostly rogues and underground lords who buy and sell on the black market." I tell Ava, not hiding the truth or the reality of how I had to survive for Zane, Lizzy, and I.
I did what needed to be done to provide and keep us safe.
I could be mistaken but the female warrior looked a little impressed. She pursed her lips and crossed her arms looking me over. A lesser wolf would be intimidated but I wasn't. I knew if push came to shove, I would wipe the floor with her even if she did have a height advantage over me.
"Well, you're one of us now, so you don't need to do that shit anymore."
I laughed. Not at her but at what she said. "Yet here we are getting ready to scout out a place I'm breaking into for the Kingdom."
"Touché." She laughs breaking her stance. "Think I can have one of these?" She holds up the mini crossbow twisting it in her wrist.
"Knock yourself out," I say, giving her permission to keep it. "There are more arrows in the second drawer down."
"Sweet!" Her eyes light up as she looks over the selection of arrows lined up. There are plain steel ones, silver ones, gold-plated ones, and my personal favorite the ones that held poison in the tips.
"Take what you need right now, we should be coming back here so I can pack up the rest of my things and take them back to New Moon."
I grab my bag, sling it over my shoulder and leave her in the room to fill her pockets, or bag in this case.
I just hoped she didn't leave the room a mess. I was so very grateful when I walked past Zane's room, through the living room and into the kitchen, that the warriors had cleaned up after themselves. Everything was back in place, and it eased my mind.
Mike is in the kitchen pouring coffee, I offer him a tight smile and he doesn't return it. Instead, he looks past me, ignoring me once more to talk with another warrior.
I don't get it. It's like one step forward and two steps back. What the fuck did I do?
I drop my bag in frustration, truly pissed now. "Hey, Beta!" I yell loudly making everyone in the room pause with the harshness of my voice, letting a little of my Alpha aura slip through. "What the fuck is your problem with me now?" I throw my hands up in the air.
"Not now Lyric," Mike says through gritted teeth, his eyes darkening with his wolf.
"No. Now." I demand. Standing my ground. I feel Note rise to the surface when Duke presents himself. She too wants to know what the heck his problem is.
The Beta ignored me and turned back to the warriors, dismissing me yet again.
Fuck this shit. I slam my fist down hard on the counter, "I'm talking to you!" I yell even louder "Don't you dare fucking ignore me!"
All the air wooshes out of my lungs as I'm slammed against the wall. Thick and heavy fingers coil around my neck. I look up at the attacker, my mate, to see his eyes black as coal with a white cross centered where his pupils should be.
He leans in close, mouth brushing the lobe of my ear. "Don't ever disrespect me like that again, little thief. Sass me again with that pretty little mouth and I will bend you over and fuck you into submission." He seethes.
I shouldn't find it hot, but I can't help the way the sparks make me heat up and crave for him to do just that. Surprising myself with the thought.
I don't give myself away, instead, I pull my head back, his hand gripping my neck tighter "And I won't hesitate to rip your dick off and knock it in the dirt." I strain the whispered words.
As much as he is affecting me and arousing me, he is also pissing me off with his dominating act.
"You have no idea how hard I am trying to control my wolf. Myself. Even just looking at you is pushing the limits of my self-restraint." He pushes his hips forward so I can feel the very large bulge in his pants.
Oh! So that's why he is ignoring me because he can't control his urges? "You could have told me," I say fighting to keep my breath even and against the strain of his hand.
Moons why is this turning me on so much? My eyes flit from his only to see the warriors standing there watching the show. All with a look of shock on their faces. Trying to figure out if they should interject or not.
"Beta," Ava finally says when Mike doesn't release his grip.
"Know your place warrior." He spits out with agitation. Not once taking his eyes off me.
I could see his wolf was still in control and he wasn't letting up. My neck was beginning to hurt, and I was finding it difficult to breathe. His other hand slams against the wall beside my head, making my eyes jerk back to his.
"Don't push me, little thief." He sneers, curling his lip up and showing a fang.
I raise my hand slowly and cup his jaw, letting my thumb stroke over his cheekbone. His hand eases off, but he doesn't remove it. Heat blazes between us as your eyes are locked and his bore into me with intensity.
I keep stroking his face until I watch the blackness of his orbs dull and return to the kind hazel ones I adore.
Mike lets go of me and stomps from the room without a word. I finally I can draw in breath.
'That was intense as fuck!" Note says, now drawing back herself.
I wanted to run after Mike but decided to leave him to cool off. It was probably the better idea.
Was that truly his reason for the cold shoulder this morning? All because he wanted me and didn't think he could control himself or Duke.
If that was the case, that was wild!
I should be mad as hell. My wolf should be mad at the way he handled us. But we weren't for some odd reason.
I rubbed my neck, telling Ava I was fine when she asked. My head was swimming with thoughts. Was it that hard for him to not claim his mate, that he would rather ignore me than have to look at me because it might break his resolve?
I just couldn't wrap my head around it.
My neck would heal, but I wasn't so sure about my ego. He was ready to punish me in front of his unit. He physically manhandled me.
'You did challenge him.' Note laughs in my mind. The wolf actually laughs at me.
'Yeah, well, I don't like being ignored by him.' I tell her, shocking myself with the confession.
Not long after the little incident, we are packed up and back on the road. Except this time, I find myself riding with Ava and another warrior Tim.
*You can't ignore me all day * I link Mike who is in the car ahead of us. I know I'm pushing it, but we had to work together tonight.
*I couldn't ignore you if I tried. You're all I think about.* Is his reply before he cuts the link.
Is that true, is he always thinking about me?
We finally arrive at the location, our car and Mike's car are parked across the road, and the other warriors park down the street out of sight.
We sit here for hours watching the people come in and out.
The first and second floor is home to a nightclub. The third floor is where the lock boxes are securely kept within the bank. The fourth-floor houses numerous offices and the fifth floor, if I remember correctly from word of mouth, is where Garrison stays when he is here.
Garrison was a notorious bear shifter, who killed first and didn't care about asking questions. He mostly employed stealthy little ninja werecats, his heavy hitters were rogue bear shifters and the occasional werewolf.
The sun went down, and the moon settled above us, shrouded by the overcast of clouds. The temperature had dropped, and I could smell snow in the air.
*Showtime. And it looks like it's a full house tonight.* Mike's voice filters through my mind as he connects to me and the warriors. *Lyric, switch places with Pete in my car. You and I will go in together.*
That was not a good idea. *I can get the job done faster if I go in by myself.* I reply not just to him but the open link to the warriors too.
*Just get in my fucking car.* He snaps back.
