Pregnant With Four Alphas' Babies: A Reverse Harem Romance Chapter 112: Paranoia

*Emily*

I sit in the garden for a bit after my talk with Tristan. I don’t think that he believed a damn word I told him, and it pisses me off.

The other day, when I first got back, I thought that I might’ve actually had his ear. But now… he seems more worried about getting in there and talking to fucking Alpha Morris about their secret plan than speaking to me.

I have to wonder what it is that Alpha Morris thinks he knows that will turn this situation with Luna Barbara on its ear. He was supposed to tell me after the five minutes of awful sex we had where I took his virginity–though with that performance, I think he should still be labeled as a virgin, or at least half virgin–but he refused–laughing in my face.

I need to know what it is….

After a while, I get up off of the garden bench and head inside. I only make it about five steps when I hear a familiar tune being whistled and the clomping of footsteps.

It’s the same song Morris was whistling while we were having sex.

I believe it’s the theme of a television show. Just the sound of it makes me nauseated.

“Oh, hi there… lover,” he greets when he sees me.

My stomach turns even more, but I don’t correct him. I don’t see the point in telling him we are anything but lovers at the moment.

“Hey,” I say. “Well, I just had a conversation with your best friend. I didn’t even have to have sex with him for him to tell me about your little secret.” I roll my eyes. “It’s not even that big of a deal, you know.”

“Not a big deal?” He looks shocked. “What do you mean? Of course, it’s a big deal!”

“You think?” I ask, shrugging my shoulders. “I bet King Gene already knows about it anyway.”

“Well, he thinks he does because Alpha Tristan lied to him to try to get Luna Barbara in trouble, but King Gene doesn’t know that it’s true.”

I clear my throat, thinking I almost have him. I just need to play nonchalant for a few more minutes, and this idiot will blurt out–

“Seriously, Miss Emily! It’s a huge deal that Luna Barbara is really working with Alpha Kane to try to take over the kingdom!” He shakes his head at me. “Baby, I love you so much, but sometimes you can be dense.”

Bile rises up in the back of my throat. Baby? He loves me?

“Shut the fuck up, Alpha Morris!” I shout, coming at him. He almost trips over his own feet as he backs away from me. “You’re a fucking moron! Don’t ever call me ‘baby’ or say you love me again! And stop whistling that goddamn song! No one cares about a stupid TV show!” I wheel around on him and start to walk away.

I get a few steps down the hall, walking over to Alpha Tristan’s room, thinking I will check this theory out with him, when Morris shouts, “But wait… baby!’”

I ignore him and continue on my way, but as I am about to get to the Alpha's rooms, I notice that a door is ajar as someone is standing in front of it talking, and I pause.

“Listen, Shelby, I have to get back to the office. You’re going to have to wait for Little Adam until later.”

“Oh, there’s nothing little about you, baby.”

Again, I find myself thinking about puking as I stand there, eavesdropping on Adam and Shelby.

“I have to figure out what to do about this. We can convince King Gene to stand aside if he knows Kane is coming for the crown. He can hand it over to Tristan or one of the other Alphas.”

“But baby–”

That is enough for me. I’ve heard everything I need to, and I know who I need to talk to next.

I take off, heading toward my cousin’s office, thinking he will have to listen to me now. I’ve heard from two different people that Luna Barbara and Alpha Kane are after his head.

If he goes into hiding, I’ll have a chance to convince whoever he puts in place as temporary king that I am the one who should be the next queen. I’ll have to pretend that I will leave that stupid bitch Breeder alone, but that shouldn’t be too hard.

I am the new Emily. I have turned over a new leaf….

King Gene’s office door is open, so I make my presence known. He is slamming down the receiver on his phone and cursing.

Seems like a good time to invite myself in. “Hello, cousin.”

He takes one look at me, drops his head, and says, “Fuck me.”

“Listen, I’m going to tell you something you need to hear, and I need to make sure that I have your attention,” I announce as I walk across the room.

“Emily, get out of here. I already told you, you have a week to do whatever it is you think you need to do to convince me to make you queen. You’re wasting your precious time. You’ve only got six days left.”

“What I have to say is more important than that, King Gene. It involves your safety. I have heard that Barbara is working with Kane!”

He rolls his eyes at me and scoffs, a maniacal giggle slipping from between his chapped lips. “That again? I’ve heard that one already, Emily, and I don’t believe it! Why, just an hour ago, I called Luna Barbara in here and asked her if she was working with Kane, and she told me no.”

I stare at him, waiting for him to tell me some further proof, but that’s it. That’s all he’s got.

Her word… against everyone else’s.

“She’s lying to you, cousin!” I exclaim. “If she was trying to kill you, do you think she’d announce it on the evening news? Listen, you need to go into hiding! He knows exactly where you are, and he has an assassin in your building, one he tricked you into inviting here!”

“I invited her because I wanted to!” he shouts back at me.

I shake my head. “That’s what he wants you to believe! Maybe he’s controlling your mind, slipping thoughts into your dreams! You don’t even have any foil on your head!”

King Gene reaches up and places a hand on his head. “Foil?”

I look up at the ceiling, and my eyes trace all around the room. “You never know what methods he’ll use!”

He opens his mouth and then closes it. “I don’t know, Emily. Let’s get the Alphas in here and see what they think.”

“Well, I don’t know how you’ll have a meeting without Kane knowing,” I say with a humph.

“What? You think he can see into my office?” Gene spins around, looking for some sort of a sign of infiltration.

“It won’t be obvious. You’d better get some foil!”

His eyes are wide as he stares back at me.

A few moments later, a maid rushes in with a roll of aluminum foil. Quickly, my cousin tears off a piece and wraps it around his head, including his face.

“Well, that’s a good way to suffocate,” I mumble. I consider just letting him pass out, maybe actually die, but I decide against it. “Let me help you.” I bite back the word “idiot.” I make him a little hat of tin foil, and he puts it on his head.

“You have to wear one, too!” he says.

I refuse to do any such thing. “Alpha Kane can’t hear me!” I insist.

“Why not?” Gene folds his arms, looking ridiculous. I have sculpted a long pointy top to his hat that looks a bit like Stephen’s floppy penis, but bigger.

“Because… I have a vagina,” I tell him.

His eyebrows knit together, and I just nod.

“You wanted to see us, sir–what the hell?” Tristan stops mid-sentence when he comes through the door, followed by all three of the other Alphas. Mark looks a little under the weather. I’ve heard that Barbara tried to kill him–or something. “What’s that on your head, King Gene?”

“Shhhh!” Gene hushes, grabbing pieces of aluminum foil for all four of them. Without speaking, he directs them all to make similar hats. They look at me, and I shrug. It’s clear the king wants them to do it, and none of them feel like arguing, so a moment later, they all have foil penis hats, and I am trying not to laugh.

“Why don’t you have on a tin foil hat, Emily?” Mark asks me.

“Because she has a vagina, you moron!” Gene yells at him. “Now, listen up! I have heard that Alpha Kane is working with Barbara, and they are trying to kill me! Emily says he can hear every word I say!”

“And your every thought,” I chime in.

“Unless you have a floppy-looking dildo on your head made out of reflective material?” Tristan says, unamused.

“What do dodo birds have to do with anything?” Gene asks. “Listen, she thinks I should go into temporary hiding and let one of you idiots be king for a while!”

All of them light up at this prospect. “I didn’t say just any of you, though,” I remind them. “I think Tristan is the man for the job.”

He arches an eyebrow at me.

“What do you think, Alpha Tristan?” King Gene asks. “Do you have it in you to run things while we send our armies out to squash Kane?”

Tristan salutes the king. “I swear on my life as an Alpha, I will not disappoint you, sir.”

I try not to laugh. It’s a little hard to take him seriously when he’s wearing a big schlong on the top of his head.

But when Gene says, “Fine. Then… I’ve got to figure out where to hide,” I know the score this round is Emily one, King Gene the idiot, zero.
