It feels strange going back to Castle Dark Forest, and it’s going to feel even weirder being there again. It’s been so long since I first arrived there for the stupid contest… well, I guess without that contest, I would have never met my Alphas, so I suppose I won’t call it stupid anymore.

I wouldn’t mind staying in Mark’s castle forever… or Tristan’s, or Eli’s, or Reece’s, and I tell my Alphas as much, but they all assure me we’ll visit all of them often. The kingdom is used to having Castle Dark Forest be the home of the Alpha King, and I agree that it’s probably best that we live there.

Still… it’s going to be odd being there, remembering King Gene trying to kill me, among other things that happened there.

“Are you okay, little flower?” Tristan reaches out his hand and wraps it around my fingers. The calming feel of him instantly washes away my fears.

“It’s okay to be nervous about coming here,” says Reece, who is sitting across from me in the vehicle. It’s sort of a cross between a van and an SUV, and the back seats face each other. “If you find yourself too uncomfortable here, we’ll leave.”

I shake my head. “I’m okay, especially since we left Gene behind.”

I am relieved about that. Eustace really liked Mark’s castle and the suite he was in, so he asked to stay there. It turns out there are plenty of pups living there and in the surrounding area, so Gene will keep being a poopy diaper maid far away from my little ones.

And that’s fine by me.

We pass through the gates, and I’m relieved to find that I’m not feeling nervous at all. Things feel different now. I’m the queen of this kingdom now, and my four Alphas are Alpha Kings, and my little ones are two princesses and two princes, one of which is heir to the throne. It’s a lot different than being brought here in a train full of young women ready to pull my hair out because they want to eliminate the competition to have an Alpha’s baby.

And it’s a hell of a long way from any sewage plant.

I’m certainly greeted differently, with servants everywhere making way as we all get out of the vehicle to carry all the babies inside.

I step out, turn around, and see for the first time what a huge entourage we’ve brought with us. Most of these cars are full of warriors who fought in the war, and they’re finally returning home. The courtyard is full of women and children running toward their mates to welcome them. It’s making for an amazing scene.

Adam and Shelby step out of the castle and walk over. They’d left yesterday so they could get here before the rest of us. The first thing Shelby does is hold up her arms so she can hold one of the babies. I smile and hand over Reeva, who I happen to be holding.

But Shelby looks different, and I can’t really place it. She looks… super happy. She’s always happy, but this is different. I’m just about to say something when Adam speaks up, talking to my Alphas.

“I’ll understand if you need us to vacate the Beta quarters,” he says.

“What?!” I ask. “Why?

“Well, all the Alpha Kings have their own Betas, so the Beta position is more than filled,” Adam says.

I look at my Alphas with a desperate plea in my eyes. I don’t want Shelby to leave.

Tristan is the first to speak. “Did you seriously think that? Come on, man. Are you kidding me?”

Adam looks confused.

Mark shakes his head. “There’s no way we’re letting you retire that easily,” he says, in a bit of a teasing tone.

“I’m sorry we didn’t speak to you earlier,” says Reece. “We didn’t know you felt that way. We need you here.”

Adam’s face starts to brighten up as Eli chimes in. “You know this place like the back of your hand. You know everyone who does business with this castle and this kingdom. You have relationships with all the vendors, and you’ve been running this place for years while that idiot Gene was neglecting his duties.”

Mark nods. “We were hoping that you’d stay and be Chief Advisor Beta to the Alpha Kings,” he says.

Adam’s eyes go wide. “Is that… do you… I mean, is that even a thing?”

“It is now, buddy,” says Tristan. “But it’s a mouthful. Maybe we’ll just call you the Chief Beta.”

He puts up his hand and messes up Adam’s hair, and we all start laughing.

I smile at Shelby, feeling so happy that she’s going to stay here. I know that Kelly needs to be with her mate, so I’m dealing with that, but I don’t want Shelby to move away, too.

But she has a funny look on her face. “Well, but—”

Adam walks over to her and wraps his arm around her shoulders. They look at each other with wide smiles.

“Um… we might need to move out of that suite after all,” he says.

I look at Shelby. “Shelby… why?”

She looks like she’s about to burst, and she finally spits it out. “Because I’m pregnant!”

My eyes go wide, and I want to grab her and jump up and down, but I don’t want to squish Reeva, so I do a milder equivalent of that, which involves one arm and bouncing more than jumping. I can’t get the smile off my face. “I’m so happy for you two!”

“Congratulations, Chief Beta,” says Mark. He shakes Adam’s hand, and the others follow suit.

“If you need more space, we can knock out some walls, or we can find you another suite,” says Reece. “I think I remember seeing some good rooms on the east side that looked vacant.”

“We’ve filled one suite on the east side,” says Adam. “Retired Alpha King Edward and Former Queen Marcella are residing there.”

“Oh,” says Eli. “How are they doing?”

“They’re much better than before,” Adam says. “They’re together. Edward has his wits about him now that he’s not locked away in a prison without his mate. He’s all-in on you four being Alpha Kings until the boy is ready to take over. His wife still has some issues, but her mental health is improving now that she’s with her mate as well.”

“That’s good to hear,” I say. “I’ll have to go visit her. She’s the only former queen I know. Maybe she can help me with a few things.”

“Good idea, little flower,” says Tristan.

“We’d better get these little ones inside and settled,” says Mark. “Queen Rose, please lead the way!”

“With pleasure!” I say.

Seven Months Later…

I step out of the room where I just put down the tiniest bundle of joy in the castle—Shelby and Adam’s little newborn boy. It’s been tough being on the assistant side of a birth, and I’m exhausted. It only makes me appreciate all the nurses and everyone else who helped with my quadruple birth even more than I did before.

I stroll into our giant Alpha King suite, which is big enough to have separate rooms for me, all my Alphas, and all our little pups. I’m greeted by all four of my Alphas in the living room area, each one with their respective son or daughter.

The children look so big. We’ve been planning for a major first birthday party in a couple of months, but I put that on hold when Shelby went into labor. I have a lot of help, so I’m sure we’ll be ready regardless.

I had wanted to collapse into my bed before I walked through the door, but now I’m energized. All four of my pups are in different stages of walking, crawling, pulling themselves up on everything, or just scooting along. I’m not rushing anyone. They’ll all develop at their own pace.

The most energetic one is Tristan’s little Trisha, who just might be capable of running the kingdom on her own one day. She’s still so little, but I can imagine her talking her brothers into letting her rule the kingdom before either of them step up to the throne. The idea makes me smile.

To think that she was the last one missing and the hardest to find… I put that idea out of my head. That’s all in the past now. Today, we’re all together and have a bright future.

I can tell my Alphas were discussing kingdom business, which is almost a constant subject now. They run ideas by me all the time. I love how they want me to take a leading role in running the kingdom as well.

“We need your input,” Mark always says. “Half of these wars and conflicts wouldn’t happen in the first place if the Queen had gone into the issue first with compassion and negotiating skills. We want life to be fair for everyone in our kingdom, and you’re an important part of that.”

My cheeks go warm at the thought.

I sit with my Alphas, and we play with the babies as we discuss the latest issues troubling the kingdom, after I report on Shelby and Adam and their little pup, of course. They’ve named him Aiden, and he’s just adorable.

As we’re chatting, I think about everything that’s led me to this place, these wonderful Alphas, and these beautiful children. It’s been a long journey full of so much heartache and pain, but the love I have now is worth every second of suffering.

Every one of my Alphas is a kind, generous, caring man who is also brave, strong, and driven by high morals. Alone they could lead any kingdom, but together, they are going to make this a place where families can thrive.

Every one of my babies is precious and beautiful, and their individual personalities shine through so much that I am confident for all their futures.

“Are you okay, darlin’?” asks Reece.

“I’m perfect,” I say.

A lone tear has formed in the corner of my eye, but it’s not for sadness at all. I’m just overflowing with gratitude to the Moon Goddess for giving me such a beautiful life as Queen with my four Alpha Kings.
