“The fucking Breeder had her babies?” I repeat to the servant who has just barged into my bathroom to give me this news. I am taking a soak in my garden tub, and the scents of roses, lilacs, and other flowers are wafting around me. I had found it soothing until a few moments ago when this idiot barged in.

“Yes, she did,” he says, swallowing hard as he tries not to look directly at me. He’s probably afraid he’ll see my wee wee and never feel like a real man again. “We just got word from the castle, sir.”

“What castle?” I ask. “You know a talking castle?”

I see him swallow again and wonder if he has something stuck in his throat. “No, sir. I mean… we got word from the spy you sent to Alpha Mark’s castle, sir. He said that the breeder gave birth to four babies a little while ago, and that the Breeder herself almost died, but their doctor was able to bring her back.”

I mull that information over. “The Breeder almost died of natural causes?” We almost got lucky enough to have the stupid bitch die on her own, but now I’ll have to kill her.

“That’s right. But she lived, thanks to the doctor, a Dr. Travesty.” He gives a sharp nod.

“You’re right. It is a doctor travesty that she was able to save her. Who was the doctor?”

“Dr. Travesty,” he says.

“I agree wholeheartedly,” I concur. “But what was her name?”

“Travesty, sir,” he says again.

Now, I am starting to get irritated. “I do realize that it would’ve been better if the Breeder had died and the doctor hadn’t saved her. That’s why I’m asking who it was! So I can make sure they pay for committing this travesty against me. So, just tell me already! Who was the doctor who committed this travesty?”

“Yes, sir.” His eyes are wide, and he keeps shuffling his feet, like I’m making him nervous.

“Yes, sir–what?” I scream, my hands splashing down in the water, causing some to spill over.

“Sir, it was Dr. Travesty. She saved the Breeder.”

“Who saved the Breeder? Dr. who?”

“Dr. Travesty, sir!”

“Oh, all right then, don’t fucking tell me!” I exclaim. “Go and fetch that man who used to work at Alpha Mark’s castle. What’s his name? Never mind. You probably don’t know and we’ll keep going in circles. Go!”

He turns around and takes off out of my bathroom like he’s just seen something scary, and I have to imagine that it was my wee wee. It can be very intimidating because of its size.

Even though I’m not halfway done enjoying my soak, I decide it’s time to get out so that I can speak to my new Beta about this situation. He already knows that he’s been assigned to kill the Breeder, but if he knows she’s had her pups already, things might change a bit for him. It would’ve been better for him to have killed her before they crawled out of her womb. Now, he’ll have to kill them all individually, and that will be harder. While I imagine those pups won’t be able to defend themselves very well, their Alpha fathers will be a tougher group to cut down.

I put on my robe and go out into my living quarters. When I open my closet doors, I do so quickly and have a look around, half expecting Luna Barbara to be there, but she’s not. I am alone. I pick out a nice outfit to put on and am about to get dressed when there’s a knock at the door.

Muttering under my breath about interruptions, I go to see who it is.

“You wanted to see me, Your Majesty?” a scrawny man with thick glasses and not much hair asks me. I feel sorry for him. He’s so ugly. But then, not everyone can be as handsome as I am.

“Yes, you're the man from Alpha Mark’s pack, aren’t you?” I don’t invite him inside. He can stand in the hallway.

“That’s right, sir. Melvin.”

“No, I’m King Gene!” I tell him, shaking my head. Everyone is so fucking stupid today. “What kind of a dumbass name is Melvin?”

He clears his throat. “No, Sir. That’s my name.”

“Oh. Well, anyway, I was just trying to figure out what happened with that Breeder at Mark’s castle. I heard she almost died but then she was brought back to life by the pack doctor. Travesty.”

“Yes, that’s her,” he replies with a nod.

I furrow my brows at him. “That’s who?”

“The doctor. Travesty.”

“Yes, it is a travesty. I’d be much happier if she’d died. But she didn’t. So I want to make sure that she is killed as well as the doctor. So… do you know her name?”

“The doctor?” he asks me.

“Yes!” I’m starting to lose my patience again.

“Travesty,” he says with a nod.

Taking a deep breath, I say, “I’m not asking for your opinion about the situation! I simply want to know her name!”

“But that is her name,” he replies.

“What is her name? Butt?”

“But what?”

“I don’t know!” I shout at him. “Just tell me the doctor’s fucking name!”

Beads of sweat pop up on his forehead as he looks at me behind those thick frames. “Dr. Travesty, sir. That’s her name. That’s what her name is.”

“Her name is That?” I ask, finally starting to think I understand.

“Yes. That’s right,” he says, looking slightly less frightened.

“Well, why didn’t you say That to begin with?” I ask him.

He shakes his head slowly. “I’m sorry, sir. I thought I did say that.”

“All right, all right,” I tell him, waving him away. I’m done with him now. No need to continue to shout at him. “You can go. But next time, be more clear, won’t you?”

“Yes, sir. I’m sorry about that.” He takes a few steps away from me, backing down the hallway.

“I’m sorry about That, too.” And I truly am. “That really is a travesty.”

He says nothing, but I see his brows furrow, and rather than going through it again, I shut the door.

Through the mind-link, I contact my new Beta. ‘Listen, I’m giving you a new assignment,’ I tell him. ‘When you go to kill the Breeder and her pups, you’ll need to add another person to the list. The doctor who delivered the pups.’

A second later, his voice fills my head. ‘Which doctor is that?’

‘Precisely.’
