Pregnant With Four Alphas' Babies: A Reverse Harem Romance Chapter 219: A Mother's Superpower

The life of an Alpha King is never dull. There’s so much to do, so many people to see, so many things to deal with… the whole thing is just exhausting. Thankfully, there’s a perk here and there, like enjoying the company of the lovely woman who is with me right now, feeding me grapes.
Her fingers are so lovely; her nails are painted purple. It’s not usually my favorite color, but her delicate little hands sure do look enticing as they grip the fruit gracefully and bring each one individually to my mouth.
Ah, yes. Being the Alpha King certainly suits me well. I must have been completely insane to ever offer to step down for those ridiculous Alphas and the spawn of that breeder woman. Ugh, I shudder at the thought.
No need to concern myself with it anymore, though. My allies are at this very moment attending to disposing of the Alphas and those brats once and for all. I can relax and enjoy the dainty fingers of Miss… whatever her name is.
“One more down the hatch,” she says in a sing-song voice, and I smile as I open up for those luscious fingers to deliver me the delicate morsel. It’s all so fantastic, and—
“Sire?”
“Ow!”
The screech comes from the lovely woman, whose fingers I’ve bitten when I just jumped at the sudden intrusion. “What the fuck?” I bellow.
Miss Lovely is running toward the ice bucket holding her finger.
“Who the fuck told you to enter?!” This I say to the rude, lumbering idiot guard who has just run in and interrupted my intimate moment.
He bows low. “My apologies, Your Majesty,” he says. “But I have urgent news for you, Sire.”
“What kind of fucking news couldn’t wait until I’ve… had my meal?!” I ask.
The guard’s eyes remain downcast, as they should be, while he answers, “Your Majesty, there’s been an… incident regarding your vehicle.”
“My vehicle?” I ask. “Who the fuck is driving my royal car?!”
“I beg your pardon, Your Majesty,” he says. “I don’t mean your Royal Majesty’s personal vehicle. I mean a vehicle belonging to the royal fleet.”
“You interrupt me for a car accident?!” I scream at him. “We have people who deal with that sort of thing, do we not?”
“We do, Your Majesty,” he says.
I look over to the lovely young lady, and she’s crying, still holding her finger. Now I’ll have to call for another lovely young lady. I can’t stand crying.
“The vehicle in question was driven by Luna Barbara,” says the guard.
This gets my attention, and I turn to look at him. At least he’s not crying. “Is Barbara dead?” It would suck if she were dead, because I don’t know if she’s carried out her mission yet. In fact, I don’t even know exactly what her mission is. I still don’t understand why she didn’t tell me.
“Sire, Luna Barbara seems to have been… behaving contrary to the expectations of royalty,” he says.
“Oh?” I ask.
“Apparently, Luna Barbara is somehow involved in the kidnapping of the four Alphas’ pups,” he explains to me.
Kidnapping—is that what she was doing? I suppose one needs to obtain the brats before disposing of them, so that makes sense. She was taking them off to kill them. But it doesn’t seem like that went well….
“Is Barbara dead?” I ask.
The guard looks at me like I’ve lost an eyeball. “Your Majesty, you already—um, no, she’s not dead, Your Majesty, although she has been injured in the accident and was taken to Alpha Mark’s castle to be detained.”
“Detained,” I say.
“She’s in the dungeon there, Sire,” he says.
“I know what that means, you dolt!” I scream at him. “What of the pups?”
“It seems the pups are missing, Your Majesty,” he says. “Do not fear, Sire. The four Alphas are at this moment searching diligently for the future heir.”
“Shit,” I say. The man looks at me strangely again, and I realize I’ve said it out loud. “I mean, splendid,” I say. “All will be fine then.” Except that it’s not fine, because now I have to find someone trustworthy to clean up after Barbara’s mess, and probably someone to take out Barbara too so she keeps her damn mouth shut.
“Yes, Your Majesty,” he says.
The man stops speaking and stares at me for a long moment. “Oh, dismissed,” I say, waving my hand.
He bows. “Good day, Your Majesty,” he says, then he walks off.
I yell after him, “Fetch me another young lady!”
I hear him mutter something under his breath. I must be mistaken because I swear he says, “Fetch her yourself,” but that just can’t be.
The woman is missing when I look back again. Good riddance. She was a crier, anyway. I’m sure someone better will come along to feed me my grapes.
I’m surrounded by incompetence! I’ll wait until a new woman shows up. Then I need to figure out how the hell I’m going to get rid of the Alphas and those brats now.
There’s so much to do as Alpha King.

I didn’t want Rose to get out of bed, but there really is no stopping her right now. I have no idea how healthy—or not—she feels after having four pups not very long ago, but I can’t imagine she’s in top shape right now to go running after kidnappers.
At least she has us to help.
The Alphas have—reluctantly—given her their position, so we’re all piling into vehicles to head them off at the nearest highway.
Rose is staring straight ahead, a blank expression on her face.
I pat her on the hand. “We will find them, Rose,” I say.
For a split second, I see a change in expression, as if she’s about to explode into tears, but she pushes it back and restores her determined demeanor. “I know,” she says.
I can tell she doesn’t want to talk anymore, but I need to. ‘Adam,’ I say in the mind-link. ‘I’m worried.’
‘So am I, babe,’ my mate says. ‘There’s nothing else we can do for her right now except help make her feel like she’s doing something to help. I’m guessing just lying there doing nothing was more than she could take.’
‘Yeah,’ I say. ‘Any news from anyone?’
‘No,’ he says, and even in my mind, I can feel the hopelessness in his voice. ‘The Alphas are tracking the scent, though. I don’t think it’ll take long to find them.’
‘I just hope they’re okay,’ I say. ‘I… I never even got to meet them.’ I would never say that to Rose right now, but that’s how I’m feeling. I’m so glad for Adam. He’s my rock. ‘I wonder what kind of mother I’ll be.’
‘Is there something I should know, babe?’ he asks. There’s a hint of humor in his voice, even though it’s impossible to be happy at all right now.
‘No,’ I say. ‘Not yet. But someday I’d like to be a mother. Don’t you want to be a father?’
‘I do,’ he says. ‘And when the Moon Goddess feels it’s the right time, we’ll be parents too.’
‘I know,’ I say. ‘I just hope she doesn’t wait too long.’
‘I love you, babe,’ he says.
‘I love you, too.’
I look back over at Rose, and she’s looking out the window. I can see all her emotions on her face as her eyes cut through the passing forest as though she’ll be able to spot her babies even while we’re speeding past. Who knows? Maybe she can. Being a mom might be a superpower. You have this life inside you, and you feel it for months; surely there must be a powerful bond there that cannot be broken. Maybe there’s more than scent that she can use to find her babies again.
I hope I have that superpower one day soon.
Just then, there’s a sudden change in her, and she sits up straighter in her seat, practically jumping out the window.
“Stop here!” she yells toward the driver.
