Pregnant With Four Alphas' Babies: A Reverse Harem Romance Chapter 50: Pregnant with How Many Babies?

*Rose*

The nervous habit of rubbing my belly just increases as the days pass by. I’m constantly thinking about my baby. Now that I’m about ten weeks along, I have another appointment today, and I’m nervous to hear what Dr. Pendergorder, or whatever her name is, has to say.

When I made the appointment, she said we would just be checking to make sure the baby is healthy and doing some measurements.

That seems just fine on the surface… but it makes me anxious because I have to wonder… what if everything doesn’t measure correctly?

What if there is something wrong with my baby?

“It’ll be fine,” Shelby reassures me as we walk down the hallway together. “Stop worrying so much.”

“I’m sorry,” I say. “I just can’t help it.” I’ve been reading a book that I found in the library called, ‘When You’re Expecting, You Don’t Know What to Expect,’ and it has me all kinds of confused and full of doubts.

What if my baby has three heads, and instead of shifting into a wolf, it shifts into a hamster? Or a chihuahua? Or a spider monkey??

“I know it’s hard not to be worried,” Shelby admits. “But everything is going to be just fine.”

I try to believe her, but it’s hard.

We walk into the clinic, and that mean nurse from the first time I came into this place is there. She stops as she crosses my path and looks me up and down. “What the hell are you doing here?” she asks me. “Are you late for another appointment? As slow as you are, I have to guess that this one was scheduled for last month!”

My eyes double in size as I try to figure out how to answer her. I don’t want to be rude, but she’s being so awful to me!

I don’t have to say a word. “Excuse me!” Shelby interjects, stepping in front of me. “Who do you think you are, talking to the woman carrying the next heir to the throne that way?”

The nurse blinks a few times, and then her mouth drops open. “She’s the–Breeder?”

“Damn right she is!” Shelby shouts. “And do you know who I am?”

“Y-yes, ma’am,” the nurse stutters. “Th-the Beta’s wife.”

“You got that right. Now, shut your mouth before I knock the three teeth you’ve got left out from between your flapping gums!”

The nurse rushes away, and Shelby continues to stare her down until she disappears.

I almost wish she would’ve said another word because I would’ve liked to see Shelby knock the crap out of her, but then Dr. Penderghoul comes out, wearing a wide smile, and asks, “Is everything okay?”

“Everything is fine,” I tell her while Shelby takes some deep breaths. “How are you, Dr. Pencilgrasp?”

“Pendergan,” Shelby corrects me.

Ugh. I was so close that time.

The doctor pretends like she didn’t hear my slip up. “I’m good, thank you. Let’s go see how you are.”

She gestures for us to follow her, and we go into a private room where she has one of those baby checking machines sitting nearby.

“Now, for today’s examination, I’m going to need you to put on this gown. This will be an internal ultrasound, so it might be a little uncomfortable. That’s why I asked the Alphas not to come.”

I am confused. Am I supposed to swallow something? I look at the machine and see a big long wand sticking up on one side and figure that must be an antenna of some sort–an antenna shaped a little bit like one of Tristan’s toys.

“Okay,” I tell her, a little more frightened than I was before. I’ve never been good at swallowing things….

She leaves, and I change. Shelby watches. It’s not like she hasn’t seen me naked before. It still makes me uncomfortable. I do notice my tummy is a little more pronounced than usual, but I’m not sure if that’s because of the baby or the fact that I’ve been eating more–for the baby’s sake.

“Do you think I need to take off my panties?” I whisper to Shelby, once I’ve got the gown on and only my underwear.

“Uh, yeah,” she says. “It’s an internal ultrasound.”

I stare at her. “But… what does that have to do with my underwear?”

Shelby shakes her head. “Where do you think she’s gonna put that thing, hun? The machine goes in the same way the baby did! Incidentally, you do know the baby comes out the same way, too, right?”

“Yes, I know it comes out the same way,” I reply back to her snidely, but I am still confused about the wand.

It’s going to go where?

I take my panties off and sit down just in time for Dr. Pendergoon and Nurse Nancy, the nice one, to come in.

“Okay, honey, now just lay back. I’ll use this sheet to cover you, and you can put your feet in the stirrups.”

Oh…. that’s where–holy shit! That thing is big! And I thought the Alphas were big!

It takes me a few seconds to get used to the cold piece of plastic, but I am trying to focus on the screen as the doctor moves the wand around making little noises in the back of her throat.

Then, the nurse starts gasping, and I am terrified.

“Is everything okay?” Shelby asks her.

Dr. Pendergama clears her throat. “Uh, Rose, dear… have we talked about the possibility of multiple babies?”

“Well…” I begin, not sure how to answer, “you’ve been lovely, but I’m afraid I’ll be leaving the castle after I have this one, so I’m afraid I’ll have to find another doctor if I ever get pregnant again.”

Both Dr. Pendergara and the nurse laugh. “No, dear, I mean… this time. Multiple babies this time.”

“Wh-what?” I ask as she moves the wand around a little. I am confused….

“I see twins, dear. Only… not just one set of twins. Two sets of twins. Two in each of your uterine horns.” Dr. Pendergarish has a very serious look on her face, and though I want to laugh, I think she is serious.

“I’m not very good at math,” I begin, “but… are you telling me… I’ll be having… f-f-four babies?”

“That’s right,” she says. “Four babies.”

I feel all of the color drain out of my face. “Dr. Pencilcase,” I say, “is that because I had sex with four men? Are they each a different Alpha’s baby?”

That makes everyone erupt in laughter, and I feel like an idiot.

“No, no dear. Chances are, they all have the same father. We won’t be able to tell that for quite some time, but we can check in a few more weeks to see if we can get a DNA sample to tell who the father is. I mean, the chances of having one set of heteropaternal superfecundation twins, let alone two, is almost one in four hundred. I’m sure having two sets would be… closer to one in a million.”

“So you’re saying there’s a chance?” Shelby asks.

Dr. Pendogarage shrugs. “I mean… there’s always a chance. But other than the fact that there are four of them, they all look to be in great health and are measuring just slightly smaller than where we expect them to be for a single birth. I’d say they’re all doing well given the circumstances.”

I can’t say much of anything throughout the rest of the examination. I don’t know what to say or do or even what to think. I am stuck on that superfecun… agilisticexpialidoscious word she’s said as well as the quantity of babies she’s mentioned.

I’m going to have four babies!

I’m going to lose four babies….

To Emily.

When the appointment is done, I walk in near silence back to my room and sit down in my reading chair.

“I know you’re shocked,” Shelby begins. “I’ll make you some tea.”

No words come from my mouth. She makes me some tea and hands it to me, but I don’t drink it.

“Honey, you’ll feel better if you drink some of that chamomile,” Shelby prompts.

I take a few sips and then set it aside. I don’t feel better. I feel lost.

“Why don’t we go for a walk outside, out in the sunshine? That will help,” Shelby suggests.

Maybe she’s right. I should probably walk around while I can still see my feet.

We head outside and walk through the garden. Shelby points out different flowers, and I think about my babies. Will they be all girls? All boys? Two of each? One girl and three boys? She’d have plenty of brothers to keep her safe. One boy and three girls? He’d probably have to fight them off from doing his makeup and hair.

I hear a snooty voice coming from the other side of the flowers. “Soon enough, that big-nosed buffoon will be the size of a barge!” Emily laughs along with her friends.

I stop in my tracks. The last thing I need right now is a confrontation with Emily.

“I’m gonna knock her block off!” Shelby exclaims, getting ready to go around the flowers and teach her a lesson. I grab her arm.

“No, Shelby. Leave her be,” I insist. “I don’t want to fight.”

“She can’t talk to you like that!” Shelby protests.

I am about to say something when a familiar scent catches my nose, and I turn to see Tristan walking through the garden. I’d know his scent anywhere–pine trees and the forest after a rain. I smile just seeing him. I haven’t spent much time with the Alphas lately, and I miss them.

He sees me, and his face lights up, and then I am running to him.

He catches me in his arms and asks, “What’s the matter, little flower?” just as Emily comes around the corner. Assuming it’s her who has made me upset, he says, “Don’t worry. That stupid bitch can’t hurt you while I’m around.”

I can’t talk. I’m too emotional, but I know she’s said something else about me because they all burst into laughter.

All I can think about is how in the world am I going to do this?
