The crack of the gun in the distance fades as I continue to run. I don’t know where I’m going except for south as fast as I can. I’m running over snow-covered ground, sliding down hills, trying to get away from them and closer to my own pack mates so that I can use the mind-link to try to reach out for help.

I am at the top of a very large mountain, and I don’t have a lot of experience navigating ice-covered terrain. I need to slow down to make sure that I don’t fall, but I can sense them coming after me. I believe they’ve all shifted now to chase me, so it’s not like they should be able to shoot at me. Wolves do not have thumbs, after all….

I try to look ahead of where I’m going so that I don’t do something stupid like plunge off a cliff, but my feet get twisted up on a large rock, and the next thing I know, I’m tumbling.

The snow is deep enough that I’m not even making contact with the smaller rocks and bushes beneath the ground covering, but the larger ones protrude and stab into my body as I continue to flip over, sometimes hitting me right in the gut, other times in the kidneys. Either one serves to take my breath away, and I fight to regain my footing.

I manage to tangle a paw into a shrub that’s sticking out of the snow and pull myself to standing. But then, once I’m standing there panting, trying to catch my breath, I hear a rumble behind me like nothing I’ve ever heard before.

The ground is shaking beneath my paws as I turn my head, trying to figure out what is happening, but then, I see it, and all I can think is, “Holy Fuck!”

I turn around and take off running as fast as I can go, but I can’t outrun it. There’s no way I can beat the wall of snow that is coming toward me, and after a few moments of running as fast as I possibly can, the shaking grows more intense, and then, I am surrounded by nothing but cold white powder, struggling to keep my head above the onslaught.

It’s nearly impossible, and the sensation that I’m being swallowed whole, that I’m drowning, begins to set in before the ground beneath my feet disappears entirely, and I am both suffocating and falling at the same time.

When I hit the ground, I slide endlessly until I come to a stop in total darkness, and every time I inhale, there is only snow–no air. No oxygen.

My last thoughts are of Rose as the world fades away.

The door opens, and I look up into an empty black tunnel.

“Fuck!” I mutter. Why the hell didn’t those idiotic assholes just try this?

I don’t have the answer to that, but I know I can’t just stand here either. With a deep breath, I enter the tunnel on the other side of the door and realize it is connected to the tunnels I was in earlier with the Breeder bitch.

It would’ve been nice to know this. I could’ve dragged her ass out this way instead of taking my chances of being spotted in the hallway with her.

As I enter the castle, I hear Kane’s voice in my head. “Are you in there?”

I don’t want to tell him anything right now. I'm in a compromising position, and I need to get help. There’s only one person who can possibly be stupid enough to help me now.

So I say the one thing that is true but won’t help him. “Your fucking key doesn’t work, you asshole!”

“What? Are you sure?” Kane asks me.

I am back in my wolf form now, trotting as quickly as I can go down the hall, trying to figure out where I am.

“Oh, I’m sure, prick!” I tell him. “Go fuck yourself!”

“But baby!” He is already starting that shit with me. “You like the D, right, the way that Kane gives it to you? Why are you so mad?”

I wish I was there so I could rip his D right off.

Unfortunately, he’s right. I do like the D and the way that he gives it to me. But I bet it’s even better coming from one of those Alphas at the castle, and if I can manage to pull this off, then I will forget Kane forever.

After a few minutes of walking, I know I’m in the castle proper now. I can hear sounds coming through the walls again. I need to figure out where I’m at. Listening intently, I hear what sounds like dishes clanking and an older woman barking orders. This is the kitchen, I’m sure of it.

Where do I need to go to get to my destination from the kitchen?

I think back over the layout of the castle, and when I reach a turn in the road, I go to the left, hoping this will take me close enough that I can walk right into the room I need and not have to navigate the halls again.

I keep walking, hearing guards running through the hallways, knowing either Kane has actually attacked or they are searching for me. Perhaps they are organizing to go find the fucking Breeder. I can help with that. I just need to–

I hear the voice I’m looking for. He’s singing, and the words of the song are very strange, so I pause and listen:

“Little GeGe

Make a pee pee

Then you can doo doo

If you want to.”

The last few words seem strained, and then I realize I’m standing on the other side of King Gene’s bathroom, and he’s singing himself a song to make himself take a shit!

I don’t know if I should hurl or laugh!

At least I know where I am now, and I need to find the next closest exit to this stupid tunnel.

Shifting back into my human form, I begin feeling along the wall until I find a telltale crack and push through it quietly. I’m standing in his bedroom now, and the smell coming from the adjoining bathroom tells me I wasn’t wrong.

Quickly, I move to his closet, hoping to find a shirt to put on that will cover me, but all of his shirts just barely go to my waist, so I find some shorts, too, and manage to pull them on over my curves. Then, I grab a couple of ties from his rack and sit down on the floor in his closet. I tie one of the ties around my mouth and loop the other one around my wrists.

Now, it’s time for Barbara to do her best acting bit. ‘King Gene!’ I call through the mind-link. ‘Help me!’
