Pregnant With Four Alphas' Babies: A Reverse Harem Romance Chapter 130: Who's the Betrayer?

They moved him.
Even though the others that I am working with are morons and can’t seem to get anything right, at least when I sent them a mind-link message that Trevor had gotten information from Eli about where he was, they had the intelligence to move the Alpha.
They also used an awful skunk spray to try to cover up his scent, and we crossed through it several times in the woods when we were trying to figure out where Eli had gone to. It’s revolting, and I’m pretty sure Trevor is smart enough to realize that the scent has to be fake; unless an entire family of skunks was killed by farting to death….
I am glad that we’re still lost in the woods so that I don’t have to start killing these guys. I think it might get suspicious after a while if every time I go off in one direction with a single wolf, that wolf ends up meeting an unfortunate ending, like falling off of a cliff or tripping and accidentally breaking their neck.
That might work a time or two, but probably not eighteen times.
“What should we do?” Trevor asks me using the mind-link as we continue to search through the area near where Alpha Stephen has been captured.
“I’m not sure. I haven’t been able to reach Alpha Eli through the mind-link.” I don’t tell him I haven’t tried. I have been able to reach my friend Darla, who is with the morons watching the Alpha, and she tells me he’s still out. I am making sure that they are keeping an eye on him this time since they have done a piss poor job up until now.
“I haven’t been able to get in touch with him either,” Trevor admits. We continue to search, but we’re just going in circles now. He shakes his head like he’s swearing, but wolves can’t talk. “I don’t know what to do, and I don’t want to tell the others.”
At least he will admit it when he’s lost, not like a typical man.
“Maybe we should go back to the castle and let the other Alphas know?” I say, using a tone that makes him think I might be unsure of whether or not that’s a good idea. That’s actually exactly what I want. My job is to make sure our little group isn’t discovered by this group, not to have to kill any of these knuckleheads or otherwise harm the Alphas back at the castle.
Of course, if I could help facilitate the demands of our Alpha, that would only work in our favor….
“Yeah, you’re right. This is a job for a bigger team than just us,” Trevor finally says, shaking his head. I can tell he feels like a failure. I pretend to give him a sympathetic look, but I’m actually rejoicing on the inside.
We “reluctantly” turn around and head back for home. I can tell Trevor is trying his best to get in touch with Alpha Eli as we go, but he won’t be able to reach the Alpha, not for a really long time.
My friends will make sure of that….

It’s dark beneath my desk, but I can fit right up against the side with the drawers hiding me from the side where my chair is currently pulled all the way in. It’s a tight squeeze, even for me, but I had to hide somewhere.
How did this happen?
How did she get out?
And what the hell is she going to do to me now?
My lips tremble slightly as I think about it. When I was a little boy, she was the most wonderful person in the world. We used to have the best times together. Even though she was the queen, she used to bake cookies with me and sing songs. She read me a bedtime story every night from the time I was born until I was twenty-two.
She was the best mama ever.
But then I realized that my father was not going to retire anytime soon, and I had to take matters into my own hands.
I had to get rid of them–both of them.
Well, I could hardly have them killed. After all, the Moon Goddess would frown upon someone committing regicide. So instead, I simply had them disappear. By the time I had all of my father’s close followers either turned against him or murdered, it wasn’t too hard to just make up a story.
We had a nice going away party that my father was “too ill” to attend and my mother was too far gone with dementia to notice, and then we waved at an empty car leaving the grounds. The driver thought he was in on all of it until a few of my henchmen took him out on a bridge about twenty miles from the castle, and he went down with the car.
When they returned to the castle to report they’d taken care of the driver, I had them taken care of.
And so it went until anyone who had any idea what had gone on was dead, and the lunatic in the dungeon who claimed to be the king was ignored by the one guard I allowed to bring him meals. Now, no one pays anyone in that portion of the prison any mind.
“We’ve got him in our custody,” my informant's voice comes through the mind-link. “And the ransom note is on the way to the castle.”
I am surprised I am able to pick his mind-link messages up from here. “You should be too far away by now to communicate with me,” I remind him.
“Well, there’s been a bit of trouble getting the others to do what we need them to do. They still think we’re in this for the money.”
I sigh. Why can’t anything just go right to begin with?
“Well, it would be nice to get the money and finish the job,” I tell him. “Whatever you do, don’t let them know that I’m working with you. That’s the most important part. I can’t be accused of being in cahoots with the likes of rogues. Besides, if this blows up in my face, I don’t want to be responsible.”
“Of course, King Gene. No one has any idea that I’m double-crossing them. They all think I’m some sort of a moron.”
I can’t help but chuckle under my breath. “Well, it might have something to do with your name.”
“It’s a nickname, Sire!” He says “sire” like it’s a curse word. “At any rate, I’ll take care of the Alpha and make it look like an accident, but you’ve got to be willing to deliver on your end of the deal.”
“Of course. I know your situation,” I say. “I know that your wife can’t have kids. You will get exactly what you’ve asked for. As soon as this mess is all behind us.”
The door to my office creaks open, and a shiver goes down my spine. Is it her?
“King Gene?”
It’s one of the guards. I say nothing, and the door closes. I can breathe again.
“Sire? Did you hear me?” the voice in my head says, clearly annoyed this time.
“What? No, I didn’t hear you. I’m the king! I’m busy doing important… royal business.”
“I said, please make sure it’s a boy. That’s important to me.”
“Yes, yes,” I say dismissively. “She’s having a whole litter. You can have your pick. Just make sure Eli doesn’t come back to this castle alive.” That will leave me with only three Alphas to take care of.
“Don’t worry. I’ll dispatch him,” my informant says, and I can’t help but smile.
“That’s all I need to know, Skullmark.”
