*Reece*

My daughter is here. I can feel it.

From the moment we started tearing through the train station, looking for the babies, I could sense that Reeva was here.

But I don’t see her anywhere, and I'm starting to get frantic!

The train that has been loading passengers toots its horn, and I look over to see a young woman getting on the train carrying an infant in her arms. She has a huge smile on her face and tears in her eyes. The baby is wrapped in a pink blanket.

My heart stops beating!

I see Mark and Rose running toward the train, but I am so far away from it, I’ll never make it on time.

Instead, I run to the office where they sell tickets and people can ask for assistance if needed. “Stop the train!” I shout at the man who is working there. “Call that train and tell the conductor not to pull away from the station! Now!”

The older gentleman looks up at me as I push through all of the people standing in line, trying not to hurt anyone, but I am in too much of a hurry to pay too much attention to anyone else.

“We can’t just stop the train,” the man says, scratching his head.

“By order of Alpha Mark, you can and will stop the train!” I command him, knowing Mark would say the same thing if he were over here with me.

“But you ain’t Alpha Mark!” he argues.

“No, I am Alpha Reece, and Alpha Mark is right there, running toward that train, so you need to stop it this instant!” I shout at him, pointing my finger in my best Alpha stance.

His mouth drops open, but behind him, I see a middle-aged woman who looks to have some sense about her. She picks up a phone and begins speaking into it. Behind me, I hear the train begin to pull away from the station.

“No!” I shout at the top of my lungs, seeing that the train is leaving but Alpha Mark and Rose haven’t made it to the platform yet. The woman is already on the train.

And I’m certain that she has my baby with her.

The train seems to be picking up steam, so I plow back through the crowds again, trying to get to the tracks. If I have to throw myself in front of the moving locomotive to get it to stop, I will. I cannot have my baby daughter taken away to some new location without even trying to get to her.

Just as I reach the tracks, I realize the train is no longer moving at such a great speed. It’s actually slowing down. Relief washes over me as I quickly find the closest door and hop up on the steps, banging on the barrier for someone to let me in.

A train conductor pops the door open. “What is the meaning of this?” he asks, but I push him aside, my eyes flying down the aisles, looking for my child.

‘We’re in the last car, moving that direction,’ I hear Mark say in my head.

I notice a woman with a baby, and my heart leaps into my throat, but then I see that the baby is too old, so I keep walking. I see another child, but the ethnicity isn’t the same. I keep walking….

I go through one car after another, looking everywhere until I’m in the same car as Mark and Rose, and they don’t have my baby either.

“Where is my baby?” Rose shouts, her eyes wide and white. She squeezes onto Mark’s arm.

Then, I notice a small woman tucked between the seats on the floor, trying to hide beneath the seat where she is supposed to be sitting, with a large suitcase in front of her, as if she might be able to block our view. I hear a soft whimpering sound. My heart stops beating.

I approach her from the front, signaling for Mark to come from behind. Rose hasn’t seen her yet.

Stopping in front of the seat, I say, “Get up. Now.”

She doesn’t move, so I take the suitcase and jerk it out of the way, tossing it into an empty seat behind me.

“Now!” is the only word I have to say to her.

The girl slides out, her face pale with terror as she cowers before me. I can’t think about her at all, though, because in her arms she is holding the most beautiful little creature I’ve ever seen.

“Reeva!” I shout, bending down and snatching my daughter out of her hands. “Oh, thank the Moon Goddess!”

“Reeva?” Rose shouts, dodging around Mark to come to us. “Is it her? Is it my baby?”

“It’s her,” I assure her. “It’s our baby.”

“Oh, Goddess!” Rose takes her from me, and I let her, but I keep my arms around both of them. “Is she okay?”

“She’s okay,” I assure her.

Reeva knows her mama has her, and she begins to coo, snuggling into Rose’s shoulder as tears cascade down my beautiful mate’s face. I have tears in my eyes as well. I kiss Reeva on the top of the head and then kiss Rose on the lips. I want to stand here and kiss her forever.

But our work isn’t done. We’ve found one baby. Unfortunately, there are still three babies missing, and I will not rest until we have found them all.

“You’re coming with me,” Mark says to the woman on the floor of the train.

“Yes, Alpha.” She is crying as he tugs her up by her arm.

We head off of the train, and since we know none of the other babies are on this train, Mark tells the conductor that he can go.

Once we are off of the train, I see Tristan and Eli still searching for their children, but I have a feeling they’re not here. Mark guides us to the train conductor’s office and tells them to stop every train that has left there in the last three hours and to do a thorough search of every one of them for two baby boys and a baby girl, all less than a week old.

Then, we go into a little office with the woman who had my daughter.

She’s got a lot of explaining to do.
