Pregnant With Four Alphas' Babies: A Reverse Harem Romance Chapter 223: A Love So Deep
*Rose*
The joy of having Reeva back is immeasurable, but it’s countered right now by the fear for my other babies who are still missing, and that unbearable mix of emotions is pouring down my face in the form of tears.
I hold my little Reeva as tight as I can. I’m never letting her out of my sight again.
I’m numb as I watch the guards drag off the woman who had stolen her. I don’t know what her story is, but Reece is following them into some back room to find out.
As I take a step to follow him, Shelby runs up to me. “Rose!” she calls, and she somehow hugs me and Reeva at the same time. She looks over at the guards and the woman they’re dragging away. “Rose, don’t,” she says. “Let’s get you somewhere where you can feed her. She must be starving.”
My eyes move back to my baby. She’s right. My Reeva’s needs come first. I have no doubt that Reece will get to the bottom of whatever that crazy woman was doing with my baby, so I nod. Shelby leads me by the arm to a woman who must work here since she’s wearing a form-fitting blue uniform, and the lady has a knowing look in her eye as she directs us to a hallway in the corner. There, we find a room set aside for nursing mothers.
The décor inside the room is nice and calming, exactly what I need right now. I can’t nurse my baby when I’m panicking. Shelby guides me into one of the small side rooms, which only has space for the two of us and the baby, and I sit down and get her situated.
My poor baby is starving! It brings more tears to my eyes.
“She’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen,” says Shelby quietly, smiling as she touches Reeva’s little toes, careful not to bother her as she eats.
It’s only then that I realize that Shelby has never even met Reeva—or any of my babies. “This is Reeva,” I say.
“Hi, little Reeva,” she says. “She is absolutely precious.”
“Yes, she is,” I say, and that sends a whole new set of tears streaming down my face. I don’t know how I have any liquid left in my body at all with all that crying, but thankfully, Reeva is getting some milk.
Shelby grabs me a couple of tissues from the corner of the room, and I wipe my eyes. I look up at her, and it’s as if she can read my mind. “You need to leave it to the Alphas now, Rose,” she says. “This little girl needs to be with her mother, and you can’t run around looking for the others while taking care of her. They have a lead now that they’ve captured that woman, and they’ll be able to find the others quickly, I’m sure.”
I nod, but I don’t really believe that. I sense in my heart that none of the other babies are in the train station, and I’m scared that the woman doesn’t know anything at all. She had looked so happy with my baby. She’s probably just someone who bought her so she could be a mother, and she probably has no idea where the awful person who stole them could be. Retta is involved, but I heard Reece mention something to Mark about a man, so they need to find him too.
When I get my hands on that Retta….
“Rose,” says Shelby, snapping me back into the present. “Hun, you’ve got to focus on the baby in front of you.”
She’s right. Reeva is fussing, and it seems like she’s already done eating. I guess that little tummy can only hold so much at a time. I bring her up to my shoulder and gently pat her back as I caress her.
She’s so warm, and she smells so wonderful. My heart aches for my other babies, but there’s some comfort in holding this little one right now.
Shelby steps out of the room and comes back with a tiny diaper and some wipes. “They’re well stocked with supplies here,” she says. “I think there are even a few little onesies in the drawer there if you want to change her clothes.”
Her clothes…. Only now I look and notice hints of blood splattered on her adorable little outfit. “Oh, my Goddess!” I say.
“Hey, it’s okay,” says Shelby. “I’m sure it’s just splatter from Barbara. Adam said that the Alphas told him how messed up she was.”
“But they were in the same car….”
“I’m not helping, I know,” Shelby says. “Please, try not to think about it. Let’s just think ahead to when you get them all back. Here’s a new outfit for her.”
I’ve finished her diaper and am taking off the old outfit and putting on the new onesie, which has a cute little pink teddy bear on it. Shelby grabs the old outfit and throws it away quickly so that I’ll stop looking at it.
“What do I do now?” I ask, half to Shelby and half to myself.
“I think you should relax here for a bit,” she says. “They have everything you need here, and the Alphas will know where to find you. Adam and some other warriors are guarding outside. You and little Reeva are completely safe in here.”
I nod. Safe… I don’t care at this point whether I’m safe or not, but I do feel more secure knowing that little Reeva is safe. “You’re right,” I say. “I need to stay here.”
Shelby disappears for a moment and reappears again, wheeling in a small, portable bassinet.
“Wow, they sure do have everything here,” I say.
“It’s a really modern train station,” Shelby says. “Alpha Mark is a great leader and provider for his people, even in this awful village.”
I realize that I’ve never been in a place like this in my life. I’ve never been a mother before I came to the castle, so I’ve never needed to go into a private place to nurse, and since I have been a mother, up until now I’d only been with my babies in Mark’s castle, never out traveling or in public.
I don’t want to part with her, but Reeva is quietly drifting off to sleep. With so much excitement, I know I have to let her rest, and I need to clean myself up a bit as well. The woman in the blue uniform who had brought us here brings me more things, including a pump in case I need it, and directs me to a washroom. I look hesitantly back at Reeva.
“Don’t worry,” says Shelby. “Auntie Shelby is guarding her with her life. Besides, it’s right around that corner. You’re not even leaving the nursing room really. Oh, and the Alphas have the healer on the way to check her over. She should be here soon.”
My eyes linger for a while on my baby.
“You can leave the door open,” says Shelby. “The guards aren’t letting anyone else through that door.”
“What about the other mothers who need to feed their babies?” I ask.
“They’ll be fine,” she says. “They’re sending them to the other nursing room down the hall.”
“Okay,” I say, but I still stare at Reeva for a few minutes before I’m comfortable enough to go wash up.
As Shelby suggested, I leave the washroom door open. If Reeva makes the slightest peep, I want to be there for her in an instant. Looking up in the mirror, I barely recognize the woman staring back at me. My hair is a mess. My eyes are red and puffy from so much crying.
A few splashes of cold water help that… a bit. I wash my hands and straighten out my clothes and start to look half-presentable again. I look back up at the mirror and notice something else. That woman in the mirror… she’s not the same young woman who arrived at the Black Rock castle so long ago, the one who underwent the exam and learned about her two uterine horns, who shook nervously when the king interviewed her, who innocently bumped into two of the most gorgeous men in the world in the hallway.
This woman… she is a mother. She’s strong and determined, and nothing is going to stop her from finding the rest of her innocent babies.
I finish up and walk back out to see Shelby with a huge smile on her face as she watches Reeva sleeping, and the same smile comes to my own lips. I can’t help it. Even though I’m still terrified for my other little ones, looking into that sweet little face warms the deepest part of my soul.
“Do you need to pump at all?” whispers Shelby.
“I do,” I whisper back. “But I think I need a minute to just relax first.”
She nods, and I sit in the chair, which is amazingly soft and comfortable, next to the bassinet, and watch Reeva’s little fingers wiggle as she sleeps. The love I feel for her is so intense. There’s no way the Moon Goddess will take any of these beautiful babies away now.
I know in my heart that we’ll find them. I just hope it happens very soon.
‘Tristan,’ I say into the mind-link. ‘What’s happening out there?’
