Pregnant With Four Alphas' Babies: A Reverse Harem Romance Chapter 82: Morris is Scared

*Mark*

The moment Alpha Morris hangs up the phone, I’m on him.

His eyes bulge as he sees me flying at him, my hands still in the pockets of my suit pants. “Morris?” I ask, biting my lip for a second to keep from losing my cool. “What the fuck did I just hear you say?”

His eyes bulge slightly, and he says, “Oh, nothing. I was just talking to… a friend. About… a television show.” He tries to smile at me, but he’s not fooling me.

Not even a little bit.

My hand clamps down on his shoulder, and I say, “I really don’t think that you were.”

Even in the darkness of the garden at night, I can see the beads of sweat popping out all over his forehead. “No, you know, I… uh….”

I steer him back toward the party, but not for more dancing or speaking to Emily. I think we’ve had plenty of opportunities to chat with that bitch, so I keep right on walking. I see Emily and Gene talking with Alpha Stephen, and I start to perk up a little, but then I remember what I overheard.

Morris has it in his head that he can kill Rose.

“Where are we going, Alpha Mark?” Morris asks as I continue to walk, moving him alongside me.

“Well, I just figured you thought it would be so easy to earn that money and do what Emily asked you to do, so maybe I’d just help you out,” I tell him, seething as I guide him down the hallway.

“I really think you misunderstood,” he tries again, but I don’t want to hear it. I know what I heard.

We reach Eli’s room, and I knock on the door, hard.

“What’s the password?” I hear Kelly’s voice through the wooden door.

Taking a deep breath, I realize I’m about to sound silly in front of an Alpha I’m trying to rough up. “Boom shakalaka,” I say in my most menacing voice.

“Shakalaka laka?” Kelly asks.

I see Morris’s brow furrow as I take a deep breath and reply, “Shakalaka laka laka, boom.”

Kelly cracks the door open just a bit so I can see one eye. “You forgot a laka, Mark.”

“Just open the damn door,” I demand with a sigh.

She does, convinced it’s me now, and not some murderer. Although, I suppose I have brought the would-be murderer with me.

“Who’s the stiff?” she asks as I guide Alpha Morris inside. He clears his throat and runs his free hand nervously through his hair. He can’t move his other arm because I am still clamped down on his shoulder.

“This is Alpha Morris.” I push him down into a chair across from where Rose is sitting on the couch with yarn and some kind of long, metal hook thingy in her hand. “He wants us to call him Killer, though, because he’s a tough guy.”

“Who’s a tough guy?” Eli comes in behind us.

“You didn’t lock the door behind us?” I ask Kelly, more concerned that he didn’t have to stay that stupid password than the fact that he just strolled right in.

Kelly shrugs. “Neither did you.”

Eli turns to lock the door, but before he can do so, we hear a thunderous, “Boom shaka laka!”

“Just let Tristan in,” I instruct. “Is Reece behind him?”

“No, I left him to guard Emily,” Tristan says as he tries to slide through the crack Eli’s left in the door, which isn’t nearly big enough, and he ends up pushing the door, and Eli, backward a couple of feet.

I shake my head and try not to roll my eyes. “Lock it,” I command.

“From… the inside?” Morris asks. He’s sweating even worse now than he was before.

“You don’t wanna be locked in here with us either way,” I assure him.

“Mark, baby, what’s going on?” Rose asks, and the sound of her sweet voice has me wanting to run to her. I can’t help but get up and walk over to kiss her. I sit down next to her, accidentally knocking her ball of yarn off of the couch. It unrolls as it takes off across the floor, hiding beneath Eli’s bed.

“Sorry,” I mumble.

“It’s fine,” she assures, setting the rest of what she was holding down on the coffee table. “I’m not getting the hang of crocheting anyway.”

“Crotchet-ing?” Tristan says, butchering the word. “I can help you with your crotch, little flower. Whatcha need?”

“That’s not what she said,” I tell him, glaring at him. “Listen, you guys, I just overheard Morris talking to someone on the phone back at his pack, his dad, maybe? Anyway, Emily tried to make a deal with him, one he’s going to regret ever considering.”

“I… I’m not considering it,” Morris refutes, wiping the sweat that’s pouring down his forehead onto his sleeve. “I would never ever… it was just… my pack needs the money, that’s all.”

“What were you supposed to do?” Rose asks him, and I squeeze her hand, waiting for him to answer.

“It’s nothing, Miss–” Morris stops, a confused look on his face.

I gesture to Rose’s stomach. “Morris, this is Rose,” I tell him. “Your prey.”

“What?” Rose asks, her eyes wide. I wrap an arm protectively around her as she turns her attention back to Morris. “What does that mean?”

“It doesn’t… I mean, I never….” He takes a deep breath, clears his throat, and runs a hand through his hair.

Tristan clamps both of his giant hands on either of Morris’s shoulders. “Why don’t you go ahead and tell us what Emily wanted, Morrsey, before I decide to snap your head off?” he prompts.

Morris’s mouth is open, but no sounds are coming out as the sweat spews off of him. It looks like he has a fire hose hidden in the back of his shirt.

Tristan comes around the front and crouches down in front of him. “We can do this the easy way, or the hard way. Don’t make me go get my magic wand.”

“M-magic wand?” Morris stammers.

“That’s right. You’re gonna wish you never met it once you lay an eye on it, so why don’t you tell us what Emily wanted you to do?” His voice is calm, but I can see that the back of Tristan’s neck is about to explode from the tension in his muscles and tendons.

In a soft voice, Morris confesses, “Emily offered me money to… kill… the Breeder… and her babies.”

“Our babies,” I clarify.

I hear Eli swear behind him.

“But I never would have done it!” Morris exclaims, pleading with Tristan.

“No, of course, you wouldn't have,” Tristan says. “And if I ever hear another word about it, I’ll shove my magic wand so far up your ass you’ll be singing soprano.”

“I’ve seen his magic wand,” Rose chimes in. “You don’t want it anywhere near your ass.”

Morris looks petrified, and I’m not sure if his sweat just smells like urine or if he’s peed himself a little.

“D-don’t worry,” Alpha Morris stammers. “I would never hurt an innocent woman.”

“Not this one you won’t,” Eli says as he comes to stand behind Tristan, his arms folded across his chest. “We will snap you in half like a twig.”

“I understand,” Morris says. “Believe me… I will never, ever be a problem for any of you or for Miss Rose.”

We stare him down for a moment, and then Eli says, “Get the fuck out of my room.”

Without having to be told twice, Morris shoots up out of the chair, taking off toward the door, shouting behind him as he throws it open, “Boom shakalaka!”

“Goddess… Emily’s never going to stop, is she?” Rose is beginning to cry, and I feel terrible that she’s upset. I shouldn’t have brought him here. I just needed to get Morris away from the other Alphas so I could intimidate him more easily.

Pulling her to my chest, I tell her, “Don’t worry, Rose. She will once she realizes she can’t win. Besides, I saw her talking to another Alpha, and I think she might actually be interested in him.”

Rose’s face brightens at the possibility. “Do you really think there’s a chance she might find someone else to focus on? But then, King Gene would have to agree with him becoming king, and then none of you will be. And… well, it all seems like such a complex mess.”

“It is complex, but we’ll figure it out,” I assure her. I press my lips to the top of her head, hoping I’ve soothed her some.

She looks up at me and smiles. “I trust you.”

“Good.” I brush her tears away. “She’s out there dancing with Alpha Stephen right now, and with any luck, she’ll fall in love with him, and he’ll take her away. Then, we won’t have to worry about Emily anymore.”

I know it’s a long shot, but I have to believe we’ll find a way to pull this off. I can’t let anything happen to Rose and the babies.
