Husband plans to kill me Chapter 304
"You said you'd bring me flowers, but you don't need to anymore."
"Buying a bouquet every day must be expensive. I've already received your heartfelt gestures over the past week, so there's no need to keep sending them."
I meant it sincerely, not as a test for him.
Royce had been sending flowers for a week straight.
Every day this past week, I felt so happy. Even when I wasn't at the office, my colleagues would tell me the flowers had arrived on my desk.
I was in a great mood, feeling light and cheerful, and I always looked forward to seeing Royce.
So, I felt that our relationship didn't need these small gestures to prove anything anymore.
But when Royce heard me, he blinked and leaned in to ask, "Does this mean you're ready to accept me?"
This guy was always looking for a way to make things official!
I pushed him away, feeling my cheeks and ears heat up.
"Not yet. Didn't I say you have a one-month trial period? But you don't need to send flowers during this month!"
I pretended to be serious. "Save your money. We'll need it in the future."
"You're already thinking about our future. Don't worry, I have money. You don't need to stress about it."
Royce said as he leaned in again, placing his hands on my waist. Feeling the warmth of his hands, I felt a bit shy.
But he was polite and gentlemanly, without any inappropriate moves. Our atmosphere wasn't overly intimate, just warm and cozy.
He looked at me seriously and said, "When I decided to be with you, I planned everything out... I wouldn't do anything without preparation. You have to believe that I'm sincere."
He brought up the conversation with my mom again. "I promised Mrs. Sharp that I'd take good care of you. How could I do that without money? I know you've always lived a privileged life, like a princess..."
I felt a bit annoyed hearing that. "I'm not spoiled at all. I started my own business early on, and I've earned a lot of money over the years!"
Royce laughed. "I know, I know... You're very capable. But what I mean is, no matter how amazing you are, you can still be a princess by my side."
Royce didn't usually say such sweet things.
He only started saying these things when we had a little argument last time. My friends even said Royce was like a golden retriever, always eager to please me.
I noticed he always said these things when our relationship was about to move forward.
"Got it, got it... Then you better work hard and take care of this princess."
I couldn't help but reply with a smile.
But then I remembered everything I went through with Brandon over the years.
Unconsciously, I felt a bit sad.
When I married Brandon, I had the same mindset.
I wanted to maintain my lifestyle and be happy with him. Even if he didn't have money, it didn't matter as long as I did!
Love and financial stability are always a tough choice. He gave me love, and I could provide the stability, and we would be happy forever.
Thinking about it made me want to cry. "I used to compromise too much. I could take care of myself, but I handed that responsibility to someone else."
"From now on, I won't do that. So if you're not good to me, I won't stay with you."
That's why I set so many tests before we officially got together.
I didn't want him to take me for granted.
Royce sensed the emotion in my words. "I understand, Caroline. Don't worry. You'll never go through that pain with me."
Listening to Royce, I blinked away my tears. "You better keep that promise."
He held me and whispered sweet nothings. We were getting closer, more affectionate.
Until a voice interrupted us. "Even though this is wrapping up, isn't it a bit much to be so intimate in public?"
It was Savannah.
She walked over, smiling at us. "But I'm really happy to see Caroline find someone worth trusting."
Looking at Savannah, I felt a wave of emotion.
When we first met, Savannah was so respectful towards me. Now, our relationship was as close as family.
