Just as I got back to my office after meeting with Isadora, my phone rang. It was Kathy.

I thought to myself, 'Our group of friends is really tight-knit; we get anxious if we don't call each other every day.'

Kathy sounded excited. "Caroline, guess what? I applied for a research trip to Oceancrest City! Didn't you say Aurelia was planning to go there?"

Oceancrest City?

Yeah, Simon had already told me that was where Aurelia was headed.

She added, "I thought I could go there and help you keep an eye on her."

I was taken aback, clutching my phone. "What? You're going to Oceancrest City for research? Why so sudden?"

Just a few days ago, she hadn't mentioned anything about this. How did it come up so quickly?

Kathy sounded a bit embarrassed. "Well, after the custom event, I got swamped with orders and felt a bit overwhelmed... I've been running low on inspiration lately, and my brand has hit a bit of a standstill. So, I thought I'd take a trip to get some fresh ideas and also check out the local culture! Plus, there's a niche designer exhibit there that I want to see."

It all made sense now.

As a designer, inspiration was crucial for Kathy.

I told her, "It's great that you're going on a business trip. I can't interfere with your decisions. I'll miss you, but if you're going for work, don't worry about Aurelia. It might distract you."

"Don't worry, I won't. I actually took a short vacation too, so it's partly for work and partly for rest. Since things aren't resolved on your end, I'll do my best to help."

I was touched that Kathy was thinking of me even while planning her trip.

As we talked, I couldn't help but tell her about Isadora's visit today.

Kathy was surprised. "At the picnic, Isadora didn't show it, but she's been thinking about Celestia all along..."

"Of course, they're family."

"Isadora has had a tough time. I remember she once told me that she and Celestia had planned to see each other every day after having kids, so their children would be close too."

I shook my head. "Hearing that makes me want to cry."

"Who wouldn't feel sad hearing that? We're all human." Kathy said, "Alright, enough of that... It's settled then. When I get to Oceancrest City, I'll update you on the details. I'll coordinate with Simon to see how we can investigate Aurelia."

I agreed.

Just as I hung up, I got another unexpected surprise.

Royce came into my office, bringing my favorite pastries.

I smelled the sweet cakes and smiled. "If only you had come yesterday."

"What do you mean? You don't want them today?" Royce laughed, sitting across from me.

I told him about meeting Isadora and having afternoon tea at the café.

Royce shrugged. "Looks like you won't be enjoying these then. Take them home for Mrs. Sharp."

"No way, I'm keeping half for myself." I had loved these cakes since I was a kid.

Royce touched my cheek. "I have to head back to work soon, but I wanted to give you some news."

"Go ahead." I set aside the pastries and looked up at him.

Royce said, "Leo is going to Oceancrest City for a business trip."

I was stunned!

Two key words: Leo and Oceancrest City, both of which I had been hearing a lot lately...

"Why is everyone suddenly going to Oceancrest City? Is there something special there?"

Royce raised an eyebrow. "Who else is going?"

"Kathy. She heard Aurelia was going and decided to help me investigate. Plus, there's a niche designer exhibit she wants to see, so she combined the trip."

Royce nodded. "I see. But Kathy's trip is for work, so investigating might be tricky. I just arranged some people for you. Should we send a couple to help?"

Royce's suggestion seemed good, so I nodded. "That could work. But won't that leave you short-staffed? Those people are helping you with a lot, right?"

Royce shook his head. "Don't underestimate my team. We have plenty of talent."

"Really? Can they all come work for me then?"

I joked, but Royce looked serious. "If you marry me, you'll be their boss, and they can follow your orders."

"Stop joking around! I'm being serious here!" I felt my cheeks warm up, unable to handle Royce's frequent teasing.

But I sensed he had a purpose. He didn't need to marry me; he just wanted me to relax about the idea.

I used to be cautious about marriage, always asking if he was ready, especially with kids and the future. I knew Royce wanted to give me a sense of security.

Royce watched my expression, seeing I wasn't upset, and continued. "I can arrange for two people to investigate, but Aurelia and Alfonso are married. Dealing with them won't be easy."

"I know, but if we don't take this step, we'll never get anywhere. Besides, I'm not afraid anymore. My child isn't in their hands. What do you think?"

Royce paused. "You seem in good spirits, joking about your child."

I remembered my frantic search for my child and felt a bit embarrassed, shaking my head at Royce.

He knew everything and remembered it all.
