Husband plans to kill me Chapter 320
Lately, we've been caught up with other stuff and haven't shared much with Isadora.
But we definitely have to make it to the full moon celebration tomorrow. Kathy and I picked out gifts for Isadora's baby a while back.
Kathy quickly confirmed she had her work schedule sorted and was ready to go with me. She reminded me to keep quiet and not accidentally mention Joanna's situation to Isadora.
I said, worried, "It's not just about Joanna anymore. Alfonso reached out to me again. I really don't know what those two are planning..."
Kathy was surprised to hear that Aurelia had approached me at that private event.
She frowned and exclaimed, "What are they up to? Wasn't causing Celestia's death enough? Alfonso is bad news; no woman should get involved with him."
I agreed with Kathy. Alfonso is ruthless and only cares about his career. Women seem to be just tools for his benefit. Celestia might have threatened his interests, or her death might have brought him greater gains, which is why she met such a tragic end.
Now, what could Aurelia possibly gain by staying with Alfonso?
Thinking about Aurelia and Lowell, a bold idea suddenly came to mind. Under Kathy's puzzled gaze, I called Simon to ask if there was any connection between the two.
Simon, used to my recent wild ideas, quickly agreed to help investigate without any complaints.
I felt relieved and had some afternoon tea with Kathy, chatting about the past few days.
We made sure our information was aligned and discussed what to say and what not to say in front of Isadora tomorrow.
Then we each went home.
The next morning, Kathy came to pick me up. She was in high spirits lately.
After the private event, she landed several big deals and even bought herself a new sports car.
I circled Kathy's car and gave her a thumbs up, saying, "You're the real career woman. I need to step up my game. I've been down and out lately."
Kathy laughed and invited me into the car, saying, "Come on, let me take you, beautiful."
I couldn't help but laugh at her joke.
We headed straight to the venue for Isadora's baby's full moon celebration.
The event was held at a small hotel. Because of her husband's job, they kept it modest and practical.
But the hotel was beautifully decorated, and the celebration was clearly heartfelt.
Isadora was in the hall, wearing a red dress, looking radiant and cheerful.
Seeing us, she waved and said, "Come over here."
We walked over, smiling, and said, "Isadora, you picked a great postpartum center. You look even better than before. If we have kids, we'll go there too!"
Isadora laughed and said, "Which one of you is having kids? Don't think I don't know. One of you doesn't want kids, and the other isn't planning to get married!"
We all laughed, and the atmosphere lightened up.
We saw Isadora's baby again.
We had seen the baby at the postpartum center, but now the baby looked a bit more grown, and we all felt a special fondness.
Watching a child grow and seeing their joyful smile made us realize how tough growing up and life can be.
Looking at the baby, I felt a lump in my throat and said to Kathy, "I don't know why, but seeing this baby makes me want to cry..."
Isadora overheard and, with tears in her eyes, said, "Caroline, don't cry. If you cry, I'll cry too..."
We looked at each other, tears streaming down our faces.
Thinking about the hardships over the years and seeing new life growing, I couldn't control my emotions. I quickly said, "I'll get a drink to calm down. You guys stop crying too."
As I turned, I saw someone standing at the hall entrance.
It was Joanna, whom we hadn't seen in a long time!
Seeing Joanna made me feel a bit guilty.
Even though we had decided to tell her everything, it was still a huge blow for any woman.
Ronnie's infidelity was unbearable for Joanna.
So, seeing Joanna, I didn't know whether to greet her.
This was the first time we were meeting since she found out...
While I was lost in thought, Joanna saw me and walked over.
Joanna was wearing a purple high-waisted skirt and a black-and-white checkered top, looking very confident.
Seeing her, I couldn't help but say, "You're here!"
"Of course, I'm here for Isadora's baby's full moon celebration!"
Joanna smiled at me, took my hand, and led me towards Isadora.
I completely forgot about getting a drink, my attention now fully on Joanna.
As we walked, I couldn't help but ask, "How have you been these days?"
Joanna paused, tightened her grip on my hand, and said, "Honestly, I didn't want to talk about this today, but since we're about to see Isadora, we need to put on a front..."
I wanted to tell her that Isadora already knew everything and felt for her.
But I held back.
For proud Joanna, this was a stain on her dignity.
The more people knew, the worse she'd feel. Seeing her now, I knew this was still unresolved for her.
Bringing it up would only add to her stress.
So I nodded and said, "Don't worry. Isadora doesn't know much. We just said you've been busy. Just act like you don't know anything and congratulate her on the baby."
Joanna smiled gratefully, "Thank you for doing so much for me. A lot has happened at home... but I haven't told him yet. I'm waiting for the right moment."
