Husband plans to kill me Chapter 337
Royce was waiting for me downstairs.
Seeing him instantly lifted my spirits.
It felt just like when we first started liking each other back in high school.
Back then, we didn't fully understand what feelings were, but we had a vague impression and memory of each other. Just seeing him made my heart feel warm.
Every day felt like I had eaten candy.
As Royce walked towards me, I was suddenly reminded of how he looked in high school.
The image of the present-day Royce overlapped with my memories until they merged into the person standing before me.
I stared at Royce, dazed.
Royce must have noticed my blank expression. He walked over and gently touched my face, asking softly, "What's up?"
His words snapped me out of my trance. I shook my head and said, "I was just thinking about something from the past."
Surprisingly, Royce seemed to understand what I meant. He took my hand and led me towards the car.
He asked, "Were you thinking about our school days?"
Talking about this made me feel nostalgic. I replied, "It feels like we're getting old... Why do we always talk about the past like this?"
Royce chuckled and said, "It's because you're always sentimental. You either get mad at me or ask about my thoughts on marriage and kids. How am I supposed to answer you?"
He glanced at me, checking if I was upset.
But I accepted his words willingly. My thoughts were always changing, and I never knew what I was thinking.
After getting in the car, I sat in the passenger seat, quietly watching the scenery outside.
Royce driving to pick me up made me feel safe and happy.
It felt like we were a normal couple or even married, able to have dinner together after work.
Thinking about this, I turned to him and said, "You didn't even text me before coming to pick me up today."
Usually, Royce would let me know when he was coming, but today he just showed up, as if he knew I'd be leaving the office and wouldn't miss him.
Royce glanced at me and then back at the road. "Isn't it normal to pick you up? You said you'd make my position official next month, so I need to perform well to earn it."
I laughed and said, "You're getting better at talking. I'm almost scared."
We chatted casually, the atmosphere harmonious, until Royce brought up Alfonso, making me tense again.
Royce told me he'd been investigating Alfonso, but Alfonso seemed even more cunning than before.
He disguised his actions well, making them hard to see through.
Most importantly, Alfonso was busy with another small company, having abandoned NexGen Innovations, so it wouldn't cause trouble for now.
I scoffed, "He abandoned NexGen Innovations? Then we'll ruin it! He has to compensate us."
Royce nodded, "I support you, but be careful. If we provoke someone powerful, it could be disastrous for the company."
I nodded, understanding. This issue was crucial for me and Asher's project.
So I asked Royce, "Did you find anything else about Alfonso? I need any information."
Royce glanced at me, joking, "You sound so serious, I'm getting jealous."
I frowned, "Jealous of Alfonso? Really?"
Jealous of another man would be one thing.
But knowing we're investigating Alfonso, the villain...
Royce smiled at me.
I realized he was joking, trying to lighten the mood.
At a red light, he grabbed my hand and kissed it.
I pulled my hand back, worried about the cars around us, and glared at Royce.
Royce said seriously, "I want to be with you every day, marry you soon. Jealousy is normal. And you haven't made my position official yet, I'm anxious you'll leave me."
I couldn't help but laugh, "You're always watching me, picking me up after work. How could I have time to run off? Let's focus on facing the upcoming challenges together."
"We've taken NexGen Innovations to court, but there's no news from Alfonso…" I thought of Simon's investigation into Celestia, feeling heavy-hearted.
I told Royce, "You saw how happy Isadora was at her baby's party… But she cried with me about Celestia! Celestia's death is a shadow for Isadora, so we must continue investigating and seek justice for Celestia."
Royce's smile faded.
He nodded.
The light turned green, and he started the car, "One step at a time."
On the way to the restaurant, he shared his recent findings, mentioning a name I hadn't thought of lately. Maeve!
Royce planned to investigate Maeve for clues about Alfonso.
