Husband plans to kill me Chapter 370
With Kelly right there, Royce's words seemed even more believable.
After dinner, Kelly and Zola started cleaning up. I wanted to help, but Kelly stopped me. "You go sit in the living room. I got this."
I couldn't argue with her, so I went back to the living room with Royce and Brett.
Brett grabbed Royce's hand, excitedly saying, "Mr. Castillo, can we do a puzzle? I have a new one I haven't opened yet!"
Royce smiled and nodded. "Sure, let's do it together."
It seemed like Royce never said no to any of Brett's requests.
Watching them sit on the carpet, carefully working on the puzzle, I felt a wave of happiness wash over me.
Royce wasn't just good to me; he treated Brett with the same patience and care as if he were his own child.
Seeing him like this made me feel incredibly lucky.
After all these years, someone was still waiting for me, accepting everything about me. It was the happiest feeling in the world.
A little while later, Kelly and Zola finished cleaning the kitchen and joined us on the couch.
Seeing us all so happy together, Kelly smiled contentedly. "Seeing you all like this makes me feel at ease."
I leaned on her shoulder and whispered, "Mom, thank you for always supporting me."
Kelly patted my hand gently. "As long as you're happy, I'm happy."
Royce looked up and smiled at us. "Mrs. Sharp, Caroline, don't worry. I'll make sure this family only gets better."
He sure knew what to say in front of Kelly!
Brett held up a puzzle piece and shouted excitedly, "I want to help too!"
We all laughed at his enthusiasm.
Later that evening, when Royce was about to leave, Brett held onto his hand reluctantly. "Mr. Castillo, when will you come back?"
Royce knelt down and patted Brett's head. "Brett, I'll be back soon. Next time, I'll take you to the amusement park. How does that sound?"
Brett's eyes lit up, and he nodded excitedly. "Deal!"
After saying goodbye to Brett, Royce walked over to me and said softly, "Caroline, I had a great time today. Thank you for letting me be a part of this family."
I smiled and held his hand. "I should be thanking you. I haven't seen my mom this happy in a long time."
Even though I usually made Kelly happy with my playful antics, it was nothing like today.
Maybe she was happy because she felt I had finally found my own happiness and someone she could trust to take care of me.
Royce leaned down and kissed my forehead gently. "Get some rest. See you tomorrow."
I nodded, watching him leave, my heart filled with anticipation.
The next morning, I got up early to get ready for work.
After getting ready, I went to check on the kids.
They were still asleep, so I kissed their foreheads gently and tiptoed out of the room.
As soon as I got to the office, Royce called.
His voice had a hint of a smile. "Caroline, did you sleep well last night?"
I smiled back. "Very well. How about you?"
Royce's voice softened. "I slept well... but I missed you a bit."
I felt a little shy and teased, "We were only apart for a few hours, and you already missed me?"
Royce's tone was tender. "Yes, I think about you every minute."
We chatted for a while before hanging up.
After formally meeting the family, it felt like we were truly in the honeymoon phase.
In the afternoon, Royce texted me, asking if I was free in the evening. He wanted to take Brett and me somewhere.
I replied: [I'm free, but where are you taking us?]
Royce replied mysteriously: [You'll see.]
That evening, Royce arrived on time to pick up Brett and me.
As soon as Brett saw him, he ran over excitedly. "Mr. Castillo, where are we going?"
Royce smiled and patted his head. "It's a surprise. You'll find out soon."
Royce drove us through the city and finally stopped in front of a newly opened family restaurant.
The sign read "Family Feast Bistro," and there were several cute cartoon character statues at the entrance.
Brett jumped out of the car, shouting excitedly, "This place is so cool!"
I looked at Royce in surprise. "How did you know about this place?"
Royce smiled. "A colleague mentioned this new family restaurant. I thought you and Brett would like it, so I brought you here."
I felt a warmth in my heart. "You're so thoughtful... I haven't taken the kids out in a long time."
"The other kids are still young. We'll have more opportunities in the future. Today, let's just focus on Brett." Royce smiled.
Inside, the restaurant was decorated with a playful, child-friendly theme. I looked around curiously.
The walls were covered with cartoon characters, and Brett excitedly pointed out who they were.
We found a table by the window and sat down.
The waiter handed us menus, and Royce gave them to Brett and me. "See what you want to eat."
Brett pointed at the pictures on the menu, excitedly saying, "I want this! And this!"
I laughed and ordered a few dishes, then handed the menu to Royce. "What about you? What do you want?"
Royce shook his head. "I like everything you ordered."
He seemed especially agreeable today.
We chatted and ate, with Brett being the happiest of all.
He kept running to the play area and then back to the table to eat.
Royce watched him with a look of pure affection in his eyes.
After dinner, Royce took Brett to play on the slide.
I sat and watched them, a smile tugging at my lips.
When we got home, Brett was so tired he fell asleep in the car.
Royce carried him inside and put him to bed.
As we left the kids' room, I stretched. "It feels like we just had dinner, but I'm already exhausted."
Playing with kids sure was tiring.
Royce laughed. "Good thing we only brought one. Imagine how busy we'd be with all four."
I couldn't help but laugh, pulling him to sit with me for a while. "Thank you for today. Brett had a great time."
Royce held my hand. "What about you? Did you have a good time?"
"Of course, I did."
Seeing how good Royce was with Brett, I had no doubt he'd be just as kind to the other kids.
I didn't want to spoil the moment with any negative thoughts. I just hoped this warm atmosphere between Royce and me would last.
Soon, Kelly came over, probably to check on Brett. She seemed surprised to see us in the living room.
"Oh, you two... carry on. I'll go check on the kids."
Kelly quickly left, leaving me a bit embarrassed.
