I walked over to Isadora and sat across from her.

Isadora looked like she had something on her mind but handed me the menu first, saying, "Check out the menu and see what you want to drink. I already ordered a double serving of tea snacks, but they haven't arrived yet."

I smiled, flipping through the menu, "I thought you had been waiting for a long time. Now that I know nothing's come yet, I'm relieved."

"I left early to match your after-work time, so I haven't been waiting long." Isadora squinted and smiled, "I spent a bit more time with the kids at home before coming over."

I looked up at my friend.

Since getting married and having kids, Isadora's whole demeanor had changed drastically, a far cry from the person I first met.

Isadora had planned to bring it up slowly after I ordered, but she didn't expect me to be so direct.

I pressed my lips together.

The waiter brought our tea snacks, beautifully plated and styled.
