I felt a bit uneasy inside, trying my best to stay calm.

"Brett, it's time for your nap."

I said, "I brought you something. You can have it after your nap."

My heart sank, and I quickly asked, "How is Leo doing now? Have you seen him?"

"It's still unclear, but the police have enough evidence. Leo might face serious charges. We need to prepare for the worst."

"Even if he made mistakes, he's still Briar's dad," I could only say.

Briar walked over and sat down next to me.

"Aren't you supposed to be napping?" I remembered I had just told her to sleep.

Briar shook her head, her voice trembling. "Ms. Sharp, I can't sleep... Is my dad in trouble?"

I didn't expect Briar to ask this so suddenly.

I hesitated for a moment, then decided to tell her part of the truth. "Briar, your dad's situation is a bit complicated... But I'm doing my best to help him, so don't worry too much."
