Husband plans to kill me Chapter 362
"Why'd you say that out of the blue?" Royce gently ran his fingers through my hair.
"Even if we made it official now, it still feels a bit off."
If those misunderstandings and accidents hadn't happened back then, Royce and I might have been together already, and we wouldn't have gone through so much.
Royce could tell from my expression that I was thinking about the past again. He quickly cupped my face, making me look at him.
At such a close distance, we could only see each other in our eyes.
For a moment, I really felt like I was starting a new life. "So, after we officially get together, will you treat me even better than before?"
"You've asked this before. My answer is the same: absolutely."
Hearing Royce's answer, I closed my eyes in satisfaction. "That's good!"
"So, am I your boyfriend now?" Royce seemed eager to confirm this.
I nodded. "Yes, you are my boyfriend now."
At our age, calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend might sound a bit childish, but people could fall in love at any age. That was something I had recently come to understand.
I didn't think it was anything to be ashamed of.
"When we get back, I'll tell my mom. You should feel more comfortable coming over then..." Thinking about the plan, I couldn't help but smile.
Royce saw my smile and gently patted my head. "I feel like I haven't seen you smile like this in a long time."
"What do you mean? Haven't I smiled in front of you recently?" I pouted, but inside, I was a bit startled.
I had indeed been dealing with a lot lately, and my mood hadn't been great. Maybe Royce had noticed all of it.
Royce just smiled without saying anything.
We sat in the car for a while, with him holding my hand tightly until it was time to go home.
At the door, he seemed reluctant to leave.
Royce kept asking me to confirm if he was really my boyfriend now.
His nervousness made me want to laugh. I kept nodding and saying yes, but then Royce suddenly brought up another topic.
"Since we're officially together now, there's something I need to remind you about. It's best not to mention my identity to others."
"What identity? Besides being my boyfriend, is there something else that needs to be kept secret?" I blinked at him.
I was just joking, but Royce's expression turned very serious.
"I have a lot of projects right now, and some involve confidential matters that can't be casually discussed. So, I need you to keep my identity a secret... You can tell people we're dating, I'd love for you to announce it!"
I couldn't help but ask, "Then why bring up the secrecy?"
"Because now that you've officially acknowledged me as your boyfriend, we'll be in closer contact. You'll definitely learn about the things I'm working on. I didn't tell you before to avoid overwhelming you, but now we'll face many things together..."
Royce meant he was handling a lot of confidential matters. Even his connection with Simon was part of it. So, I couldn't casually talk about certain things, not even with my closest friends.
I understood Royce's point. "Okay, I promise I won't tell anyone."
"We'll carry on as usual. Just consider this a heads-up and be a bit more careful." Royce wasn't too stern about it. "If anything goes wrong and you accidentally spill the beans, I'll cover for you. Don't worry."
Royce was always so reliable. I couldn't help but hug him before heading inside.
Back home, I immediately told Kelly about making things official with Royce.
Kelly was sitting by the coffee table, knitting a winter scarf for Brett. The scarf was made of blue yarn with some sparkly threads woven in.
I really liked it and cozied up to Kelly. "Mom, can you knit me a scarf too?"
Kelly glanced at me and adjusted her glasses. "You have so many clothes in your closet, probably dozens of scarves. And isn't Kathy a designer? She takes care of your clothes. Why do you need me to knit you one?"
I pouted. "I just thought a scarf knitted by you would be warmer. I want one made by my mom..."
I pretended to cry next to Kelly. "You know how tough things have been for me. I just want a scarf from my mom. Is that too much to ask?"
Kelly was speechless for a moment, then reluctantly agreed to knit me one after finishing Brett's scarf.
Satisfied, I sat next to Kelly, watching her work with the crochet hook. Suddenly, I spoke up. "Mom, I have something to tell you that happened today."
Kelly's hands paused, and she turned to look at me, taking off her glasses with a serious expression. "What's so important that I need to brace myself?"
Seeing Kelly's serious look, I quickly waved my hands. "It's not that serious. It's about Royce and me..."
"You and Royce broke up and won't see each other anymore?" Kelly looked even more anxious.
I was surprised that Kelly's first reaction was that. I held her hand and asked seriously, "Why would you think that? Why is your first thought that we broke up?"
"Because you used to come home crying, saying you had no hope for the future and didn't know how to date. I saw how deeply Royce cared for you. Your attitude was bound to hurt him eventually. Breaking up seemed inevitable..."
Kelly rambled on, watching my expression. When she saw my wry smile, she quickly asked, "So, you didn't break up. You're officially together now?"
I nodded. "Yes, that's right. I wanted to tell you first. If he comes over, things should be more relaxed between us."
