Husband plans to kill me Chapter 336
Harold was different from other teenagers his age.
I had met tech nerds before, and they were usually quiet and reserved. But Harold was quite the chatterbox, which was surprising.
Asher told me that Harold could be a bit of a bully at home, maybe because he'd heard a lot about me before, so he felt comfortable around me.
But when he was out in public, he was pretty timid.
I laughed and said, "Teenagers at this age are like that. They'll grow out of it."
We didn't dwell on the topic much.
I left the NexGen Innovations lawsuit to Travis and Asher to handle. As for me, I returned to my office, looked at my empty desk, and remembered there was something important I needed to take care of.
After these busy days, Isadora's baby's one-month celebration was over, and next up was the company's anniversary.
Thinking back to the last anniversary, Brandon had taken over my spot, declaring his "rights" over the company.
Now it was my official return, and I had to make everything as grand as possible!
Part of this company was Gerald's legacy, and since I decided to redevelop it, I was determined to do it well.
If Brandon could run this company into the ground, I could make it thrive.
Back in the office, I ordered myself a coffee and some milk tea and desserts for the employees.
With the NexGen Innovations issue finally being resolved, it was a little treat for everyone.
Next, we had to have a meeting to discuss the anniversary celebration.
In the afternoon, Asher and Harold probably went home, but they stopped by to say goodbye.
I continued working, organizing all the contracts and projects from the past few days, and told Kelly I'd be home early for dinner.
But I had an unexpected visitor at the end of the day.
When the office door opened, I thought it was Madeline, but it was Aurelia.
Compared to the last time I saw her in a formal dress, this time she was dressed much more simply. A white dress that was elegant yet had large floral patterns on the hem, adding a touch of bold charm.
Seeing Aurelia, I couldn't help but think of Celestia.
And then Alfonso, that jerk, which made me feel even worse for Isadora…
Their family really encountered some ungrateful people!
Even though I was thinking all this, I didn't show any reaction on the surface and asked calmly, "What brings you here?"
I wasn't surprised that Aurelia knew where my company was and came to my office.
After all, Alfonso had threatened me several times, and the company's address wasn't a secret.
Aurelia slowly closed the door, walked over, and sat down in front of me, placing her purse on her lap with an elegant posture.
But I knew it was all an act.
She was just a woman who climbed up by being a mistress; what real class could she have?
Aurelia said slowly, "Caroline, I've noticed that every time we meet, you seem reluctant to talk to me. I came to see you today, and you can't just kick me out, right?"
"I won't kick you out. We do have hospitality here. But say what you need to say; my time is precious." I had to get home for dinner; I didn't want to disappoint Kelly.
Aurelia's smile stiffened, and she said, "I heard Alfonso met with you alone a few days ago. What did you two talk about?"
Was she here to interrogate me?
It seemed Aurelia wasn't having a great time after becoming Alfonso's wife, still suspicious of him.
No wonder, their relationship was a cycle.
After all, a man who cheated once would cheat countless times. Aurelia was probably worried she'd become the next Celestia.
I was still trying to figure out what forces were behind Alfonso, and seeing Aurelia here made me eager to get some information. "We talked about business and company matters. You wouldn't understand even if I told you. Are you sure you want to hear?"
Aurelia's smile changed, her eyes turning a bit venomous. "Caroline, you're doing this on purpose, aren't you? You know I'm not interested in business, and you know what I'm really asking!"
I replied, "Then say it clearly. If you don't, I won't know what you're asking, and I'm not going to guess."
Aurelia gritted her teeth, clearly annoyed.
I thought her mental resilience was pretty weak, getting upset over a few words.
She wasn't as composed as Alfonso.
Alfonso had been tight-lipped and strategic in front of me.
I could see the difference in their status.
Alfonso was cunning, no wonder he could do such things…
Aurelia finally asked, "Alright, I just want to know if you know anything about Alfonso and Maeve's connection? He's been acting strange lately, often not coming home… I know you wouldn't stoop to having an affair with Alfonso, so I'm asking if you know anything."
Honestly, if Aurelia really thought I had something with Alfonso, it would be humiliating.
No one wanted to be associated with someone like Alfonso, except Aurelia who treated him like a treasure.
Thinking of the unjustly killed Celestia, I felt sad and said to Aurelia, "Does he have a connection with Maeve? I really don't know. If Maeve has something with Alfonso, it wouldn't be surprising, right? You know Maeve's background."
Aurelia's face turned even more displeasing.
She muttered something I didn't catch, but I said, "I know Maeve hasn't been in town recently, so you don't have to worry about that."
"Really?" Aurelia's eyes lit up.
"I'm not sure, that's what I know. But you should know, I'm not interested in them, so I can't know everything."
Aurelia seemed to be pondering my words.
After a while, her phone rang. I glanced at it but didn't see the caller ID. Judging by Aurelia's expression, it was probably Alfonso.
I said, "If you have nothing else to say, you should leave. I don't have time to chat."
Seeing her ask about Maeve, I knew she didn't know much about Alfonso either.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have come to ask me.
After Aurelia left, I sent a message to Savannah, asking her to keep an eye on Alfonso, and told Harold about it.
I sent: [If you have any network monitoring programs, keep an eye on Alfonso's activities.]
Harold quickly replied, saying he understood.
Harold: [Ms. Sharp, I want to visit your company more, your computers are great.]
I held back a laugh and forwarded the message to Asher, reminding him to update the employee' equipment.
It was a rare moment of lightness, I thought.
After sending Aurelia off, I organized my files and planned to head home for dinner.
