Husband plans to kill me Chapter 354
But on Aurelia's end, she was putting on a show on Facebook, making it seem like she was living a perfect, happy life.
"I think she might be one of Alfonso's subordinates and has been part of their plan all along."
Royce was taken aback by my words. "I hadn't thought of that..."
"What about the two people you sent to follow her? Have they found anything these past few days? And did Aurelia and Leo meet up before?"
Kathy had reminded me to ask Royce about this, so I bombarded him with all my questions.
Royce raised his hand to stop me. "Hold on, let me gather my thoughts and figure out how to explain this to you."
"Alright, I'm waiting."
We were in Royce's office. I rarely visited his company, but today I made an exception because Royce said he couldn't leave. He had two meetings in the afternoon, so I had to squeeze in a visit.
If it weren't for the fact that I was meeting Leo the next day, I wouldn't have come by on such short notice.
Our relationship wasn't official yet, and we hadn't gone public. I was worried that showing up at Royce's company might cause him some trouble.
But Royce treated me as usual, even taking my hand and leading me into his office.
I felt a bit embarrassed remembering the curious looks from the employees earlier.
I didn't mention this to Royce, just waited quietly for him to share any leads.
After a while, Royce spoke up. "Honestly, there's not much to say. The leads we got from this investigation are very limited, almost zero."
"What? Didn't you send two people to follow her?"
Since Simon couldn't go, Royce had arranged for two people to follow Aurelia. But I didn't expect them to come up empty-handed.
"We did follow Aurelia and kept an eye on her movements. We also followed Leo, but it turns out they were indeed on separate trips—one for leisure, the other for business. They barely crossed paths."
So it was just as we had suspected.
But these two...
If they were both connected to the Red Spider Lily, they had to have some interaction!
"Could we have been wrong from the start? Is Leo really done with Renee..."
I stopped myself mid-sentence, shaking my head. "No way. There's still Briar between them."
Renee hadn't filed for divorce yet and she was indifferent towards Briar. This only meant there was some interest tying her to Leo that she couldn't sever completely.
Royce said, "That's what we thought too, but these two really didn't meet. Leo went straight back after finishing his work."
I sighed deeply. "How did things get so complicated?"
"Don't overthink it. Aurelia is still in Oceancrest City, and my people are still following her."
Even if we couldn't get any information from their interactions, at least we could find out what Aurelia was up to.
Royce added, "And we've noticed that Aurelia has been frequently visiting a restaurant in Oceancrest City. It's a well-known place with decades of history."
"Do you think there's a key lead at this restaurant?" I asked, not expecting much, but Royce gave me a confident nod.
"Aurelia goes to this restaurant alone." Royce handed me a tablet.
I saw organized information, photos, and videos of Aurelia entering and leaving the restaurant, taken by the people Royce had sent.
"Why is she going to this restaurant... to meet someone or exchange information?" I flipped through the photos, but they didn't reveal much. "Can we get someone inside the restaurant?"
"That's a bit tricky. We're working on it, but it's not possible yet."
It turned out the restaurant was members-only and required reservations.
"That makes it even more suspicious! Aurelia isn't from Oceancrest City. Why would she go to a members-only restaurant? She wouldn't go through the trouble of getting a membership there, right? And with reservations required, how is she managing to go so often?"
Royce squeezed my hand. "I knew you'd say that. Don't worry, we've thought of it too. My people should have the membership sorted out in a few days. We'll find out then."
"That's good..."
But when was Aurelia planning to come back?
Royce said he didn't know. She hadn't booked a return flight yet.
I asked, "Who are the people traveling with her? Have you looked into them?"
"They're business associates from the same circle."
I thought for a moment. "We could investigate further, see if their husbands have any business dealings with Alfonso."
"That's a good idea. I'll have Simon look into it."
After discussing everything with Royce, I went back to prepare for my meeting with Leo the next day.
Since we agreed not to bring the kids this time, I brought Savannah along. Leo looked surprised when he saw us.
"And this is..."
I winked at him. "How could you forget her? We met in Suncrest City."
Leo took a moment to remember. "Was it during the days Briar went missing? This young lady helped a lot, didn't she?"
"That's right," I said with a smile.
Savannah nodded at him and then quietly observed him after sitting down.
I knew it was her professional habit kicking in, so I signaled her to be discreet.
Savannah sat nearby, playing on her phone while listening to Leo and me talk.
Leo visibly relaxed. "You said you wanted to meet. Is there something you wanted to discuss?"
"I just wanted to check in on you... We didn't get to talk much last time, and Briar left with you quickly. Brett keeps asking to see you again."
Leo smiled. "The kids get along so well, better than us adults."
I shrugged. "Kids' feelings are pure and simple, without any ulterior motives."
My words had a deeper meaning, and Leo's expression changed slightly, looking a bit awkward.
He took a sip of his tea and said, "I took Briar with me on this trip. It was good for her to see new places. Traveling is always good for people."
