Watching Asher try to act all serious, I couldn't help but laugh. "Come on, Asher, don't be like that. We're all really close."

He finally cracked a smile and walked in, sitting down next to Royce and asking about what he'd been up to lately.

After a bit of back-and-forth, Asher turned to me. "But seriously, Caroline, who brings their boyfriend to the office and lets him watch them work?"

I kept my eyes on my documents. "Why don't you ask him? If he doesn't want to be here, you can kick him out."

Asher burst out laughing and teased Royce, "Did you hear that? Caroline's got a bone to pick with you."

Royce shrugged, "I insisted on being here with her. It's only natural if she's annoyed with me."

Royce always had my back in moments like these.

I chuckled softly while still looking at my papers.

After a bit, Asher handed me a document. "I brought this for you today. It's our newly revised proposal."

I took it and flipped through the pages. "This looks great... but the previous version was already good. Why the revision?"

"Well, since this is our first project together after I came on board, I wanted to make sure everything was perfect."

"I trust my team completely. I had them work overtime to refine this proposal, and now I think it's excellent."

As Asher spoke, I continued to review the proposal.

It was indeed impressive, even better than what we had discussed during the bidding process. The content and format had significantly improved.

"Your team is really talented. If we continue to collaborate, I'm considering setting up a branch office for you to manage."

I handed the proposal back to him. "This looks good. No more changes needed. Let's move forward."

"Alright, if you say so." Asher scratched his head.

But then he added, "I've come across another project recently that I think has great potential. I wanted to discuss it with you, if you have time."

"Sure, let's talk."

I glanced at the clock; there was still some time before the end of the workday.

Royce, sitting nearby, smiled wryly. "I was planning to take her out for dinner after she finished some work, but it looks like our date is getting interrupted."

Asher laughed heartily. "Sorry, Royce, but I'm all about work and business right now..."

"Unlike you, who still has time for romance!"

Asher's straightforwardness made me wave my hand dismissively. "Alright, alright."

"Let's get to the point. We really do need to go eat."

Asher then started discussing the new project.

"I've been keeping an eye on some overseas research projects. I found that the drone industry has a lot of untapped potential. For instance, the chip technology—we could invest in manufacturing."

"The drone market's got a bright future, with applications in all sorts of fields. And the chip technology isn't just for drones," Asher said, showing me some info on his phone. "Check this out."

I skimmed through the data. "But jumping into manufacturing seems sudden. Our current project isn't even finished yet... and my company’s never done anything like this before."

I hesitated.

Asher shook his head. "I'm just throwing the idea out there for now. Once our current project is stable, we can think about it. If I find more relevant info, I'll share it with you."

"Alright... but I do think it's a good idea."

I pointed to one of the projects. "If you want to pursue this, I can help you connect with some manufacturers."

"That sounds good, but let's wait until our current project is fully stable."

Asher was practical.

After wrapping up our discussion, Royce and I got ready to head out for dinner.

As we left the office, I asked Asher if he wanted to join us.

Royce looked slightly annoyed but didn’t object to the idea of the three of us having dinner together.

Asher glanced at us and smiled. "No, thanks. You two are on a date, and I don’t want to intrude."

"But think about what I said today. As you shift your focus back to work, you should aim for some breakthroughs. This year is your comeback, and I believe you can try many new things."

His words made me thoughtful.

Indeed, if my focus had been on resolving personal matters recently, now was the time to get back to business.

Even though Brandon was released and we still had no leads on the mysterious organization, life had to go on.
