Savannah shook her head and said, "Caroline, you're just overwhelmed right now. You're juggling so much that it's hard to think straight. But don't worry, I'm here with you, and we'll get through this. You need to take care of yourself first. We might have to dig into this again, so you can't afford to fall apart."

I nodded and reassured her, "I'll be fine. It's just that thinking about Briar really gets to me."

With four kids at home, I knew how tough it was to manage everything. I could only imagine how hard it was for Leo to handle Briar.

Every kid grew up mimicking the people around them. What could have happened to make Briar turn out this way? I didn't even want to think about it.

I shared my worries with Savannah.

After listening, Savannah nodded and said, "Caroline, I get how much you care about Briar. But we can't control other people's lives. Things are what they are, and all we can do is tackle the problems in front of us. Whether Briar gets back on track is up to her. You don't need to take on too much. You've already got four kids at home."

I knew Savannah was trying to comfort me, to keep me from overthinking.

But having bonded with Briar, how could I not worry about her?

I thought for a moment and then said to Savannah, "If it comes to that, if Leo and Renee split up, I'll adopt Briar. Maybe she won't live with us, but at least she won't be alone."

Briar had been through too much already. She couldn't keep getting dragged down by her parents.

Savannah sighed when she heard me say this.

She didn't say anything, but I knew she didn't agree with me.

Adopting a child was a big decision, and I already had four kids. Adding another would make it five...

Even if Royce wanted to be with me, he probably wouldn't be okay with me adopting another child. But I felt like Royce would understand.

I thought about this and then changed the subject with Savannah, "Let's drop it. We've got other things to do. Let's go."

We left in the afternoon.

"Is there something you need to tell me?"

The security guard sighed and said cautiously, "Ms. Sharp, we've noticed some weird stuff on the surveillance cameras lately. We weren't sure if we should tell you, but now that you're here, we figured you should know."

I was puzzled until he led me to the surveillance room to show me the footage.

The footage showed a man hanging around outside the office building for the past few days.

Sometimes he had a briefcase, sometimes he looked disheveled, but he was always lurking near the entrance, making people uneasy.

When I saw the man, I realized it was Brandon.

This guy had been quiet for a few days, and now he was back to his old tricks?!

The last time I saw him at the restaurant, I made it clear that I didn't want him disturbing my life anymore.

Brandon no longer had a key to the office and was on the blacklist, so he couldn't even get through the front door. But why was he hanging around outside?

He couldn't possibly be here to see me!

Seeing him loitering around made my blood boil.

I had been focusing on Leo and other things lately, and now Brandon was back to haunt me. How long would I have to deal with him?

Feeling angry, I asked the security guard, "How many days has he been hanging around here? Any other movements recently?"

The security guard shook his head and said, "Not really. He just seems to come here to look around. Every time you're not here, he leaves. He hasn't caused any real harm, so we can't call the police... We thought about chasing him away, but by the time we got outside, he was already gone!"

The security guard had been working here for a while and knew who Brandon was. Hearing this, I rubbed my temples.

But if he kept loitering around the office, it would definitely affect us, especially since not all the employees had been replaced. If they recognized Brandon, would they think he had ulterior motives?
