Royce nodded, a hint of relief in his eyes. "That's good to hear. It shows you've grown. But Leo is also going on a business trip there. What are you planning to do about that?"

Leo's sudden business trip to Oceancrest City, the same destination as Aurelia, made me suspicious.

But we were sure they had no prior connection.

I shared my speculations with Royce as we discussed the matter. "At this critical moment, Leo has contacted me several times. With Aurelia going to Oceancrest City for a vacation and Leo on a business trip, are they really not afraid we'll notice something?"

Royce squinted slightly.

I noticed he was wearing a light blue suit today, a stark contrast to his usual black attire. He looked particularly dashing.

For a moment, I thought of Yvonne.

I sighed at the thought, but Royce quickly brought me back to the present. "Caroline, do you think they might be doing this on purpose, knowing we'd suspect something?"

Royce said, "It's very likely. They might think that since we'd suspect something, they could be blatant about it, assuming we wouldn't investigate. But we'll do the opposite and investigate everything they do!"

I agreed with Royce. "I've always thought that way. We can't miss any clues. Even if we don't get direct evidence every time, at least we're trying our best."

Currently, we were in the open while they were in the shadows. They were the active ones, and we were reactive.

If we kept second-guessing whether it was worth investigating, we would always be one step behind.

Royce said, "The best-case scenario is that they're meeting up and have something planned. The worst-case scenario is that they have no connection, one on vacation and the other on a business trip. But investigating won't hurt us!"

Even if we didn't gain much, not losing anything was our baseline.

I couldn't help but grab his hand excitedly. "Thanks for always having my back."

I knew Simon was still helping us investigate, largely because of Royce's influence.

Given their professional roles, continuously pursuing a case with no leads must consider time and resources.

I knew this wasn't over and hoped they'd keep investigating, which was a bit selfish of me.

I couldn't imagine the pressure Royce was under for this.

Royce held my hand, turning it over in his palm. "Don't thank me. You're being too polite. Besides, I'm about to be officially part of this. Your business is my business."

I laughed through my tears. "Why do you always say that..."

"Of course, I have to say it. Otherwise, your cautious words make me uncomfortable."

Seeing Royce genuinely upset, I quickly promised, "Don't worry, I won't say it again. But I might still want to thank you sometimes."

"No need. Just treat me well."

After Royce left, I carefully considered all the clues.

Royce brought me the news about Leo's business trip. I wasn't sure if Leo and Aurelia were really in contact or if his trip was legitimate.

But I had another way to find out: I could talk to Leo.

During the last picnic, I was chatting with friends, and Leo didn't get a chance to talk to me. Maybe he had something to say...

I decided to call Leo.

"Caroline? Did you call me earlier?"

Hearing this, I felt a mix of emotions but quickly focused on the matter at hand. "Where are you going on this trip?"

"I'm going to Oceancrest City."

He was completely open about it.

This made me even more suspicious.

Or were they really playing mind games, as Royce and I thought?

I said, "Since you're so busy, let's meet another time. I wanted to have a proper chat next time and have you bring Briar for a nice meal."
