I thought about it for a second and said, "If you came all the way here just to talk about Briar, why go through all this trouble? We could've just set up another time to meet and let the kids hang out."

I couldn't help but mention that I had initially planned to bring the kids along, but Leo had refused.

Leo glanced at me and then at Savannah, his expression suddenly becoming quite troubled.

"Actually, there's something else I wanted to discuss with you today... I've been thinking about it a lot and didn't know who else to ask," he said.

Hearing this, I wondered if he had some shocking news to share.

If I could get some information out of him, that would be great. I pretended to be calm and said, "Go ahead, if there's any difficulty, I'll do my best to help you."

Leo nodded but was still hesitant about how to start. After a while, he said, "The thing is... I've been considering moving to this city with Briar and finding a new job. I don't want her to stay in that place anymore. At least here, she has Brett. Seeing him often would be good. Briar also mentioned that you have other kids at home, and she likes playing with them."
