Husband plans to kill me Chapter 356
I thought about it for a second and said, "If you came all the way here just to talk about Briar, why go through all this trouble? We could've just set up another time to meet and let the kids hang out."
I couldn't help but mention that I had initially planned to bring the kids along, but Leo had refused.
Leo glanced at me and then at Savannah, his expression suddenly becoming quite troubled.
"Actually, there's something else I wanted to discuss with you today... I've been thinking about it a lot and didn't know who else to ask," he said.
Hearing this, I wondered if he had some shocking news to share.
If I could get some information out of him, that would be great. I pretended to be calm and said, "Go ahead, if there's any difficulty, I'll do my best to help you."
Leo nodded but was still hesitant about how to start. After a while, he said, "The thing is... I've been considering moving to this city with Briar and finding a new job. I don't want her to stay in that place anymore. You know the economy there isn't great, and I always felt that if I couldn't provide a better environment for Briar, then no matter how hard I worked, it wouldn't be worth it."
"Briar hasn't been in a good mood lately. She said she wants to see her friends more often. She's quite lonely at school and doesn't have many friends. I thought if we moved to this city, she could see Brett more often, which might be good for her. Plus, we used to visit each other frequently. Being so close, we could continue that relationship."
I started to understand what Leo was getting at.
He was almost saying that it would be great if Briar could stay with us!
I wasn't sure if I was overthinking it, but I felt like Leo indeed had that intention.
But I couldn't say it outright. I was afraid he might agree without hesitation.
If that happened, I wouldn't be able to back out.
Thinking about this, I said, "If you want to move Briar here, I agree. But she already has classmates there. Wouldn't she find it hard to adjust if she transferred here? If she leaves her friends and comes here, she might be even more unhappy, which wouldn't be good for her growth."
I watched Leo's expression as I spoke. He thought for a moment and then said, "I already told you, she doesn't have any close friends there. That's why I want to move her. At least here, she has Brett. Seeing him often would be good. Briar also mentioned that you have other kids at home, and she likes playing with them."
Hearing this, I suddenly felt uneasy.
Briar had met my other kids before. Had anything happened between them?
I thought carefully and replied, "But Briar is still a kid herself. I can't suddenly ask her to help take care of my kids..."
A child that young should focus on her own development.
"She should focus on her studies." I was worried Leo might suggest something I couldn't agree to, so I said, "If you really want to move to this city, I can help you find a job and a place to live that fits your budget!"
I added, "If my house wasn't so full, I would have invited you to stay with us. But since we used to be part of the Jordan family, living together might not be convenient. I'm worried about what people might say. Brandon and I are in a tricky situation right now. He even threatened to take back custody of the kids. This issue hasn't been resolved and is a big concern for me!"
"I thought about letting Briar stay with us, but it's not feasible. As her father, you need to be around. It's more convenient for you to take care of her. Our relationship is a bit awkward, otherwise, I would treat her like my own child." I watched Leo's expression change several times as he considered what I said.
After a while, he waved his hand and said, "Staying at your place would be too much trouble. I didn't mean that. I just wondered if moving to this city would be inconvenient for you. You've been living here for a while, and I don't want to seem like I'm imposing. I worry it might cause you stress..."
I stayed silent, listening.
He continued, "If we move here and you're busy, you don't need to worry about us. I'll just treat it as a change of scenery."
I sensed a change in his tone and thought of Renee. I cautiously asked, "What about Renee? Won't she be involved?"
I quickly added, "I don't want to bring up Renee, but you two are still married, and Briar is your child. If you suddenly move here, Renee wouldn't just ignore it."
No matter how heartless a woman was, she wouldn't forget her child. She wouldn't let the child always be with the father, moving around.
I guessed Renee had been in touch with Leo, but I couldn't tell from his expression.
He didn't seem to want to discuss it.
After a long silence, Leo's phone rang.
He glanced at it, and I said understandingly, "If it's work, go ahead and take the call. Don't keep them waiting."
Leo stood up and said, "I'll take this call and be right back."
I nodded. When Leo left, I nudged Savannah with my elbow.
I whispered, "Stop playing with your phone. You've been on it for a while. Did you notice anything unusual?"
I trusted Savannah's abilities. Even if she was on her phone, I believed she was observing Leo.
So I quietly asked if she had found any clues.
Savannah showed me her phone, which was still on her chat with Briar.
