I wasn't too worried about people watching us, but if someone with bad intentions snapped a photo and posted it online, things could get messy. If Alfonso saw it, he might piece together what we were talking about.

Thinking about this, I decided that next time we discussed these matters, we should find a more private spot.

Isadora took a deep breath before speaking. "Even though I kinda suspected it, hearing it out loud is still tough to swallow..."

"Yeah, I get it. I knew Alfonso was bad news, but I didn't realize he was pulling so many strings... He's got some serious schemes going on."

That was why I didn't tell Isadora right away when I first found out.

We still couldn't figure out what Alfonso was planning or who was backing him.

I said, "Knox is still overseas and hasn't come back yet. I asked Simon to look into what they're up to over there. I heard they found some work and started a small business, but how long can that money last?"

It was easy to get used to living large, especially for a family that suddenly came into money. Before Knox got out, they might've kept a low profile, but now that he was abroad, they were probably living it up.

No ordinary person could resist the lure of money, otherwise, Knox wouldn't have taken such risks.

"They must've gotten that money from Alfonso. I'm sure they're mixed up in some shady stuff..." Isadora wiped her tears and took a bite of cake to calm down. "I just want to know what they're planning."

"Nobody knows for sure right now. But I do know about Aurelia's situation." I told Isadora about Aurelia's upcoming travel plans and where she was headed.

"Do you think we can start investigating through her?"

I replied, "Definitely. Aurelia is the closest to Alfonso right now, and she seems totally devoted to him, willing to go along with whatever he does. So she must know something about Alfonso!"

I paused for a moment. "But then again, Alfonso is so sneaky, he wouldn't spill all his plans to Aurelia. Until we figure out who's backing him, we can only guess what he's up to, step by step."

Isadora nodded and then said, "I feel like... even though we have so many clues, we're still stuck."

"That's true. A lot has happened lately, but all the clues are just sitting here, and we can't move forward."

I didn't tell Isadora about Red Spider Lily. The more people who knew, the riskier it got.

Isadora looked guilty. "I know you're super busy, but I still came to you. I'm sorry, but I really didn't know who else to turn to. You're the most capable among us, and I feel better leaving this with you."

I quickly reassured her, "No need to be so formal with me. We're friends, after all. As for Knox, I can only have Simon keep tabs on him, but since he can't come back here anytime soon, there's not much we can do."

I had another idea: lure the snake out of its hole.

But without knowing Alfonso's next move, we could only take it slow and gather any possible clues.

I looked at Isadora and comforted her sincerely. "Isadora, I think you're putting too much pressure on yourself. Celestia's situation isn't your fault. Dwelling on it will only affect your current life."

"The past is the past. Those who are alive need to look forward and live well. You have a child now, and your husband treats you well. You have a happy family. Celestia would be happy for you from above!" I sighed and continued, "Just like my dad... You know, who doesn't have regrets in this world?"

Isadora sniffled and wiped her eyes with a tissue. "I understand. I'll do as you say. If there's any news, can you let me know right away? I'm much better now and shouldn't get too emotional. I also discussed it with my husband. He said that Celestia's matter needs to be investigated sooner or later, and the truth must come out."

I was a bit surprised because, last time we met, Isadora mentioned that Marshall didn't want her investigating this matter.
