Husband plans to kill me Chapter 345
I said, "But now I suddenly think, if this person is still changing their profile picture a lot, it means their account is super active. This also means they won't cut off contact with Briar anytime soon. So, what should we do?"
Even though Briar was just a kid, she had always been mature for her age and had her own opinions.
While many things she did were influenced by adults, Briar still had her own thoughts and ideas.
If I directly asked her about the person she was chatting with, she would definitely be evasive like last time and wouldn't give me any real information.
And considering Briar once staged her own kidnapping to avoid being found, I knew she was cunning and couldn't be treated like an ordinary child.
This situation put me in a tough spot.
Royce noticed my frustration. He squeezed my hand and said, "Don't overthink it. Briar's still a kid, no matter how clever she is. The important thing is the person she's chatting with. We just need to find a way to get that person's contact info and talk to them."
"Easier said than done. They're so cautious now. How do we get their contact info?"
Although I took a screenshot when I accidentally saw Briar's phone last time, the contact info looked suspicious. I didn't dare to add them right away, fearing it might expose us or harm Briar.
Sensing my worry, Royce asked, "If you're sure this person isn't her mom or a family member, it should be easier."
"We can have Simon and his team pretend to be strangers and add them..." Royce lowered his voice and whispered a plan in my ear.
My eyes lit up. "Are you sure this will work?"
"Absolutely. I'm confident it will."
Royce's certainty gave me a boost of confidence. "If that's the case, I think we should give it a try. But we must keep everything completely secret, especially from Leo. If he finds out, he'll be even more guarded, and it'll be harder to get any information."
Royce nodded in agreement.
We sat in the living room for a while, and I kept thinking about the kids. Suddenly, an idea flashed through my mind.
I grabbed Royce's hand and looked at him, blinking.
"What's up?" Royce, who had driven back early in the morning, was a bit tired and lounged lazily on the couch, looking at me.
He looked particularly relaxed, with a lazy vibe that made him even more approachable.
I bit my lip. "Do you remember when we brought Aria back and met Adelaide? The one Alfonso arranged to take care of Aria. She seemed to treat Aria like her own child and was reluctant to part with her."
Royce frowned. "Of course, I remember Adelaide. But hasn't she gone missing? Simon told me she's no longer at the place you arranged for her."
I had almost forgotten about that and felt deflated again. "You're right. She's missing. Maybe I shouldn't pin my hopes on her."
"But if you have any ideas, share them. Simon might find some leads in the next few days."
I said, "It's not really an idea, just a feeling. What if Adelaide knows the people behind all this? She took care of a child and seemed to treat that child as her own..."
I was speaking from a mother's perspective. "As a mother, it's instinctive to gather information that could benefit your child. If she sensed any danger, she might have investigated a lot herself. Do you think she might have done that?"
Royce thought for a moment. "It's possible."
"So, we need to find Adelaide quickly. She might be the key."
Royce said, "I'll ask Simon. And remember when you said we needed more private investigators? I've been quietly arranging that."
"You found more people?" I was a bit worried about involving others. Simon was someone we trusted, and he always delivered results.
But with others, I didn't know their intentions or if they could be trusted.
"Don't worry. The people I found were vetted by Simon. It's almost like giving him a dedicated team, making his investigations easier."
I nodded. "Alright, as long as we get the information we need, it's a good thing."
I thought about it. With so much going on, we needed to stay strong.
If we could find information about Adelaide, it would shed light on her interactions with Alfonso.
If we could get key evidence of their dealings, we could use it against Alfonso if he tried to attack us in business again.
"With Knox's situation, I feel like Alfonso has more evil plans... I can't let such a monster roam free."
Royce put his arm around my shoulder. "Don't worry. They'll be dealt with eventually. The key now is to stay calm and not show any fear in front of Brett."
Hearing Royce, I felt a bit embarrassed. "How did you know? I was a bit upset talking to Brett earlier."
"I could tell. And Brett talked to me a lot last night."
